Well everyone just spun right past my question, I see. If anyone can direct me to an answer, that would be great. One that doesn't include condescension or sarcasm would be even better. Thanks all

I think Ninja Mom answered your question quite nicely shortly after you asked it. Check back.

Ninja Mom said:
What they mean when they say water view is just what you have described above. I'd stick with the water view you have booked and then on your room request I'd put "Need best water view".

The next part of the plan involves you NOT doing on line check in!

Check in only when you get to the resort. While at the desk you can discuss your room assignment with the front desk personnel and see what they have to offer. Remember that you can go and check out your room to see if it meets with your approval after you speak with the front desk check in staff.

If it so happens that the best that the resort has to offer... AT the Time that You check in... does not meet with your expectations then I would go back to the front desk and ask to be down graded to a "Standard view".

Alternately, a really great view often requested by those in the know staying at the Yacht Club is the Wedding Gazebo view. I believe that this would be considered a garden view which is only about $10 more than a standard view.

So that is what I believe the best course of action might be. Others might have better advice so let's hear it from the peanut gallery!

Good luck and stay tuned to this thread for further updates and information!

See NMs reply... I would agree with her. Maybe add a request for lagoon view instead of just best water view since you know you don't want a pool view.

I do love in the Unofficial Guide when they say, "The Beach Club will sell a room as a water view if you can see so much as a birdbath."

I know it's not true, but I think it's hilarious. :-)

Oh no, it's official if you are condescending and any hint if sarcasm you lose your sunken treasure privileges.

But I do agree with NM Fargo online checking. If you get a room u are unhappy with discuss it at the front desk. I'm sure they will do what they can to help. But a water view could mean anything from pool, lake or puddle. Lol

Thanks you guys, and especially Ninjamom. That response did not come up on my mobile phone for some reason. It's on my computer. Ahhh. Technology. Anyway, this is very, very appreciated, and thanks again!

Ouch. That's way harsh. We're a friendly bunch here and never mean to harm or offend anyone. Many times here I've seen a question posted here that goes unanswered. It's not rudeness or exclusion, but just that nobody has the answer. Dee has put together a wonderful, informative thread where people can talk, share stories, get information, and occasionally, but delightfully get a little off topic. I see NinjaMom gave you some excellent advice and I see no sarcasm or any condescending remarks. I'm sorry you felt that way about this thread, but I fear you have sorely misjudged us.

Ok so we are less than a month away :thumbsup2 and I feel so confused about this magic band and FP+ thing so help me clear this up.

ok so not everyone gets a magic band? This is a new test run type thing?

And the same thing goes for the FP+? People are chosen at random, sent e-mails and can participate? And you can only do 3FPs a day with that?
If chosen would you want to participate or not? And you can no longer use regular FPs?

And finally, checking in on line, yes or no?
o and is it a big deal to add another day of Park hopping to our package when we get there? we were going to do a day at US/IoA but now we decided not to

Great to hear you you got to DL AliceIn! I hope you get on POC...I like the DL version better. Oh Indiana Jones is good too.

I'm sure you are having fun!

The way the fast pass with the magic band was explained to me ... and remember please that everything is in a test mode so things that are happening now might change tomorrow. However, it was explained to me that if you have the magic band and do the scheduled fast passes, you must get 3 per day, not 2 and not 1, it must be 3. And it can only be in one park per day so if you park hop, you have to choose which park you want your fast passes in. And you cannot get more after you use your 3 reserved fast passes.

now the bands, I received all my package info in the mail the other day, are the bands all a test too at this point? And people are chosen at random?

Here's what I KNOW: we are 17 days out from our trip and got an email AND a UPS 2nd Day express delivery letter about it today. We are staying at YC. We can choose only 3 FP+s per day. You can opt not to participate in the testing.

Here's what I THINK from reading in other threads: guests are being told by email just over 2 weeks before they arrive. Some people are calling and asking and are getting two answers about regular FPs -- some are told yes you can have them and some are told no, so that's just not clear until you arrive.

I'm calling tomorrow with some questions, but I have a sneaking suspicion that if I called twice and talked to two different people I might get two different answers. I hope that helps at least a tiny bit, but I know I want more definite answers myself!

Hey Kerry ... Pete bid over at the YC and you can usually find him there in the afternoons and evenings at the front desk.

Thanks Teena I didn't realize that. I'll be visiting you both in October! All this talk about magic bands and FP+ has me thinking I better get familiar with this! As much as I understand people may be excited about this, the thought of planning fast passes before my vacation really doesn't appeal to me!

Welcome back Robyn! Sounds like you had a nice time. That's great you got to get over to GF too!

Yes, the bands are still in test mode too and people are chosen at random.

Hey all,
I would love a great water view room, but it seems that is not guaranteed. Only the higher price is guaranteed.

Should I switch to standard view and deal with a parking lot, or should I stick to the water view and play roulette on getting a good view?

I know Ninja Mom mentioned the garden view, and I just wanted to put in a plug for that option. Guarantees we won't be overlooking a parking lot, but it's far less expensive than a water view. I'm a big fan of the garden view at YC and BC for that reason, and will book it whenever it's available. Last year, we had particularly lovely garden views at YC (April) and BC (October.) Just a thought!

Right now I'm trying to coordinate a resort for 7 people. I'm trying to steer everyone towards POR. I think if I wrote a trip report I'd have to call it something like "Herding two cats and four sheep from from five different states to Disney while working full time and training for a half marathon." Of course, the last PHM trip was for 17 people from five states in two resorts, so this one has to be easier, right? :)

Wow - that's no easy task! But it does sound easier than last year, and like it will be a ton of fun when it all comes together. I know what you mean about conflicting training advice - lots of different ideas out there.

I know I've asked this before, but anyone stay at BC for PHM and have any thoughts about ease of transportation? I also love Poly and BWI, but I'm most comfortable with BC. So we're likely to choose BC for an event like this, but I want to make sure it's a good fit for PHM.

Oh yes. In line for one of my childhood faves: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Did the Matterhorn bobsleds and Buzz so far. Waiting for next FP pull. Space Mountain FP is in my pocket, but have almost 4 hours for that one.

Yay! I love Toad, too. Have a great time!

Lots of people are not happy about planning fast passes way in advance. But you don't have to. They say if you don't schedule them ahead of time, you can go and just do the parks the way you use to and that there will be places at the park where you can still get fast passes. Apparently when this is all final, just about every attraction will have fast passes. The only thing I'm happy about is being able to get reserved spots for the parades ahead of time so you don't have to plant yourself at the curb 2 hours before the parade. I think that and getting a reserved time to meet and greet characters is the only thing I'll use it for. I don't plan my every ride at every park at a precise time. Just isn't me.

Thanks for the info Teena. I agree about FP being good for the parades and character meets.

Get this...I only have one dinner reservation so far and that's for Artist Point. We didn't eat there back in 2005 when we stayed at WL. I'm looking forward to going back to WL for a visit. I am also going to schedule the Keys to the Kingdom Tour and maybe MNSSHP. Erin will be upset that she'll miss it (college)! This trip with just DH may require another soon after with the kids...or at least my daughter!
