Hi all, I am back after 4 weeks of illness -
This issue is NOT an IE7 issue, per se. It is a SHOCKWAVE/FLASH issue in relation to Mozilla style browsers with Norton AntiVirus on your system (even if not used). The Mozilla browser is based on Netscape Navigator (which was based on the original Mozilla browser) - this browser, when installed, caused all browsers to use an old code page in which the backspace button IS the browser back button. This comes out in certain versions of Firefox and a few versions of IE7 when Mozilla Firefox is installed and a certain Shockwave version is used (not nessecarily installed, VMK is based on Shockwave and they can use any archive version) - so in essence, VMK did an update, and it messed with the Shockwave, which interacted with the Mozilla code page in IE7 because Norton blocks the proper code page from being installed in the browser
Confused yet? It gets better, uninstalling Mozilla wont help, uninstalling IE might not help either, uninstalling Norton might help. To really remove this issue from your computer, you must remove all of it. Norton, Shockwave, Flash, Mozilla, IE (this issue appears in 6 and 7, it is not a 7 exclusive issue) - and still there is no garauntee that it will work. Best bet is to try upgrading everything to the next known version.(and completely remove any Norton products from your system)
