Don't have your credit card on ITUNES

My daughter had an itunes card and it didn't cover the full cost of what she wanted to buy and she was short $2.50 so I said she could put the balance on my VISA. Over the course of the next few months I kept seeing little itunes charges on my credit card - $1.12 here, $1.70 there......I figured she was buying music. She told me she wasn't and so I investigated and determined the site is completely unsecure, these were fraud charges being put on my credit card and Itunes would not take any of my calls - they claim they are an online service and not a support centre.

I am telling you I tried for 2 days to get someone from itunes/Apple/anyone to respond to me and noone would. Their solution via an email was that they cancelled my daughter's itunes account and told me to cancel my VISA. I then did a google search to find that people have lost hundreds of dollars through this unsecure site!

So get your VISA off this site if your kids have used it!! You'd think being an APPLE brand it would have better security!! Go figure!

Sorry to hear that. I have never had any issue with itunes and use it all the time with my iphone. Is it possable your daughter logged into her account at a friend house? or on someones ipod?

Your right though, I would never link my credit card to my kids account. Thats what Itunes cards are for.

EXACT same thing happened to me!!! Last time it was a charge for $14.99:scared1: I even cancelled a credit card and got a new one. I also cancelled the account and took my info off! The sad thing about ITUNES cards are you can't use them for games, which my kids really want for their ipods. I will never trust ITUNES with my CC info again!

Yikes! I have never given them my CC. We only use gift cards and, if we don't ahve enough, we have to wait til we can go by one. Something about the itunes set-up never made me feel comfy enough to give them my cc. Never had any trouble the gift card route, though.

Thanks - I'm gonna make sure I never do this! Can't believe that of all the businesses this one isn't secure.

I have used thee iTunes store many times and never had any problems with charges like that. They always e-mail me a receipt about a week or so after any purchases either on a gift card or charged to my credit card.

If I Tunes is not co operating. Dispute the charge with your credit card company.

I read a news article a while about about this. I can't find it now but it was a while ago.

It's not apple that is insecure it's the use of the account most of the times. Especially younger kids using the account. Someone already mentioned this above. Logging in on another friends computer, iPod, etc. The account login information is saved then who ever the computer or iPod belongs to can go into the account and make purchases, most of the time unknowingly.

Another thing is someone getting a hold of your credit information and making small purchases on iTunes with your card to see if it's active. If it is then they go on to make bigger purchases.

Best thing is to use gift cards if you are sharing the account with anyone. If you aren't then a credit card is no harm. Also never login on another person's computer or device, unless you can remember to check that your information wasn't saved.

So many things to remember lol :)

But it seems to be my account as the purchases have been made to my account...they couldn't just use any credit card to purchase iTunes on my account.
SHEESH!
