OK, the title says it all really.
Just a word of caution to all you future brides out there. Don't forget how unforgiving the Florida sun can be.
I spent months ritually preparing my skin for my once in a lifetime photos.I spent the first week of our vacation wearing factor 50 so I wouldnt have any strap marks or a red nose. I spent the day before the wedding being pampered over at the Mandara spa and the entire day with oil on my hair to make it shine. Yes, the night before the wedding I wallowed in our tub with my Elemis bubbles and moisturising masque on my hands to soften them. I primped and preened ( and plucked! )
BUT on the morning of the wedding, did I even think about putting sunscreen on either myself or our 4 year old? NO:rotfl:
Luckily DD wasn't in the sun for quite as long as us, but after a good couple of hours of photo taking my arms were looking decidedly red.
Want proof? heres the evidence captured by Randy that night on our wishes cruise. Oh and I wasn't the only one either, DH's neck was a little more than slightly pink:rolleyes1

ACk, I hate sunblock but don't want to get burned! I hate the feel of it and the thought of wearing it while in a huge fancy dress....yuck!

Check out Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock. It doesn't have that greasy sunblock feel. :thumbsup2

ohh my that would have been me ... i hate sunblock and am still peeling from the 4th of july we spent at the beach..lol

I will look into the Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock.. ty ty ty

and also will add to apply some on my list of things to do that morning..lol

I forgot to put on block the day of the wedding too...I got a little burnt but nothing horrible thank God...so yeah if you are fair skinned try not to forget.

You could also try a makeup base with sunscreen. MAC makes one called "Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50." It's specifically designed to be worn under makeup and will not affect the look or texture of your makeup. And it helps control shine.

For your body there are lots of sunscreens you would never even know you were wearing. Neutrogena makes some nice ones (I second the dry touch ones) and so does Aveeno.

OP, you could correct the redness in your photos with a little photo editing, if there's a photo you really love and it bothers you. It's not as bad as you think, though. :)

I'm infamous in our family for wearing sunscreen - I burn at the drop of a hat and even wear Factor 40+ in the UK!

Thanks for the tip on Nutrogena - I was wondering about how to avoid the greasy feeling :thumbsup2

I'm not at all bothered by the red glow in my firework photos, but a little while longer in the sun and it would have been painful!:headache:
I just wanted to highlight the sunscreen issue to any future brides out there. I was on this site day in day out before my weddidng and picked up loads of tips and ideas but I don't once remember anyone mentioning sun screen. I know it was just silly of me to forget, but the morning of the wedding is not a normal one. My usual vacation ritual is to apply a facial sunscreen, wait a few minutes, then put my makeup on, but of course on the morning of the wedding I left my face bare ready for Anna from makeovermajic to do her stuff.
I also underestimated just how long we would be out in the sun for taking photos and meandering back to the Boardwalk!

Wow, that's something that I would've never thought about, and I've lived in Florida my whole life!

Thanks for pointing this out :)

oh yes...as a Florida native, sunscreen is a MUST..even for me!

I was also very careful to wear the right bathing suit..our VR was at the end of the week so I wanted to make sure my dress didn't show my strap marks

Strap marks were at the forefront of my thoughts the entire week before the wedding, I had a bandeau swimming costume with a detachable halterneck, but I didn't dare wear the strap at all in case of marks. I just had to get out of the pool VERY carefully in case the whole thing slipped:scared1:
