Hi all,
So i'm at work last night,sitting in the fire house and the house alarm goes off.This means we have a run/call to go on.I am driving last night and am first on the rig and start it up. Soon as i start it,the on board computer kicks on and the call pops up on the screen, The run is for an investergate call. Someone has called 911 to report a "huge 767"(exact words used) Has crashed off the coast of brooklyn,nyc landing and exploding in the water. At first i see there is only one call and when these big things happen there are always like 20-40 calls on it. Everyone is loaded and there are 4 rigs going to the call, i am the first out of the fire house and make it only a block or 2 when the dispatch tells us there is another call for this.I start to think "oh poop" this is for real and a bunch of people sadly just died.I race along with the other rigs and the police right behind us to the call,also FDNY marine5(which is a FDNY boat) is also responding in.We get there and well nothing in the water.There is no evedince of a plane wreck.Still we spend the next 30 minutes looking in the water for several miles out.The police have traced one of the calls and go to the house which is about 2 blocks away to speak to the caller to find out what she/he saw.The front door is open and there they find a ounce and a half of cocaine on the table along with a smaller amount of pot and large amounts of vodka.In the house are 2 people both very stoned, both morons,one is a 19 year old man who lives there and the other is his girl friend also around 19. The first 911 call is traced to his home phone while the other is traced to his girlfriends cell phone.
So i guess i'm out of the loop,the cool thing to do these days is get ripped and prank calls about major events to 911.
What happened to the good old days when peope just stole cars?? 
Not to worry both were arrested and we went by the house and this kid is and i quote" do you have to tell my parents"? I looked at him right in the eye,btw he has already admitted to the 911 prank call,and i promissed him i would make sure the police did not tell his parents,he looks at me and says thanks man. So i say no need to thank me just yet,the reason why i will make sure the police will not tell them is because i'm gonna make sure i tell them first!! So anyway he went off to jail on drug and a dozen other charges for calling in the 2 fake 911 calls.Maybe he will get the help he needs thru the court system.Still some part of me really wanted to beat the,well you get the picture.Funny after 8 years on the job with the FDNY some things still manage to amaze me from time to time.
