DON'T CRY OR WE'LL RIDE DINOSAUR AGAIN! A Spring Break TR---Final Thoughts 5/5

I've been so bad at catching up with my subscribed threads the last few days. I love love love the safari at Animal Kingdom and to me you can't have too many pictures of the animals. Your gorilla pic is great. Last year, Hunter and I were able to catch sight of a lot of gorillas since they had just fed them when we got there. They are truly amazing animals.

I once saw DiVine but didn't really know what I was looking at and we were on our way to something else so I walked on past. I wish I had stopped to take pictures.

I can hardly wait to see the picture of Dinosaur! When Hunter was younger, we could always tell if he really liked an attraction by asking if he wanted to ride it again. If he said "no", then we knew he didn't really like it much even though he said he did.

I can hardly wait to see the picture of Dinosaur! .

I know what you mean, Lisa. I was out, with no DIS time this weekend, and now catching up on my threads, is worse than my laundry! :surfweb::laundy::surfweb:

You will definitely want to see this terrible picture! :rotfl:

Well, I left you with the tale of the Dinosaur ride and the promise of a very unflattering picture.

To review-----Meg had not cooperated with getting to sleep on either Friday or Saturday nights, when it had been bedtime. So, while in Animal Kingdom, that Sunday, my sister and I decided that a “little” punishment was required for such behavior! ;) We decided that we would all ride Dinosaur. I could hear Meg screaming throughout the ride and I remember just trying to reach over and try to comfort her and keep her from bouncing all over the place.

When we came off the ride, we ran to the PhotoPass pictures. Here it is----

It looks like I’m grabbing her face to make her look at the scary dinosaurs. My sister had to provide some “imagined” conversation…… “Look at it---You look at that scary dinosaur. You’ve kept us awake for two nights, tormented us, and now it’s my turn. I mean you look at that good.!” We cracked up! My sister and I just lost it laughing. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh, and for the record, my story is that I was trying to comfort her and help her to not be bounced all around. THAT'S MY STORY, AND I'M STICKING WITH IT!!!

After that, any time Meg began to melt down into a temper tantrum (in the South, we call that a “fit”), my sister or I would say, “You better stop that crying. Do you want to have to ride that Dinosaur again?” Then we’d just look at each other and say, “You better look at that scary dinosaur!”

Some may not agree with our demented parenting techniques……………………………

After that , we got in to see the first showing of the Nemo show. We were some of the last ones in the theater, and we had to sit all the way on the bleachers at the back---Not the best seat, but we’ve seen the show before, so we made the best of it.

We left and decided to grab some lunch. It was Flame-Tree for my sister and me. We took our trays and walked over to Pizzafari, to grab that for the kids.

It had started to rain, so ponchos were purchased and that only set us back about $22 for three adult-sized ones! :umbrella: We decided to duck into ITTBAB. As we got closer to the entrance, it began to pour----awful, straight-down falling rain. The line practically stopped, because people were stopping to take off their ponchos. Finally we got in, and watched the show. Meg had never actually sat on the theater seats, and you should have seen her face when those hornets came by “stinging.” She jumped off that seat and looked back at it! :lmao: Of course, even my “scaredy-cat” older girls lean up during this part!

When we came out the rain was even worse. We took cover under a store awning, but at that point, our shoes were soaked. YUCK! :sad2: After about ten minutes of us being huddled under the store awning, there seemed to be a lightening up in the heavy rain. We decided to make a run for FOTLK show. When we got there, there was a line, going to the back of the theater. I commented on how I’d never gone in this way. When we finally got to the door, I knew why---------------- The door opened up at the very top, behind the very last seat. It was standing room only. We moved all the way down to stand against the wall. A CM came over and asked how many, and we told her 6. She said she had room for 5, and we told her someone would hold Meg, and we’d make it fit. She led us down the stairs, across the floor, past a float, to the handicapped row right on the front. Lucky break for us coming in so late! :woohoo:

This is one of my favorite shows at Disney, so I thought it was great as always!

When we left the show, it was still raining, and it was almost 4 o’clock. Everyone was wet and cold. We decided to head back to POR and put on some dry clothes. The original plan was to grab some dinner and go over to MK for evening magic hours. No one really had the energy to do that, so we just made an early night of it.

Up next----Rock-n-Roll time

We too call those temper tantrums "fits". Actually I usually say "pitching a fit". Hum....If I reprimand you on your parenting skills, then I'd have to reprimand myself too 'cause I've used those same techniques before. :rolleyes1

It sounds like ya'll sat in the same section that we did in the Nemo show. John actually kept falling asleep during the show and he ended up leaving to take a catch a few winks on a bench beside Dinosaur.

Very very cool that you guys were able to get good seats at Festival of the Lion King. That is my favorite show in all of Walt Disney World!

Too bad the rain made you have to leave the park. Nothing worse that soaking wet shoes!

Aww poor Meg - threatened by the Dinosaur ride. I love that you got great seats at the last minute for FOTLK! Sometimes it's good to have an early night.

I called those temper tantrums "hissy fits" and still do (and I swear at 24 and almost 22 they still have them sometimes).

:lmao: I am dying laughing over the Dinosaur story! Poor Megs!

What a shame about the rain, but it sounds like you made the best of it by hitting all the shows.

Ha! It does look like you are trying to force the poor child to look at the scary dinosaur

For the record - I lean forward when the hornet 'stings' you too......

No only do we call it a "fit" we say "pitching a fit".........lol.

Your AK day sounds like a pretty good day except for the rain. The rain from last May has me stressed about this upcoming trip. I don't want to deal with that again this year. While we were there last July it rained a little, on the 4th, but it was so hot we were WANTING it to rain .

Poor Meg! Forced to look at that scary dinosaur and get "stung" by hornets! :rotfl: Hope she wasn't too traumatized. I know when I come out of It's tough to be a bug I'm pretty much traumatized!

My goodness, that is so funny about the dinosaur. I may have to use that line on my youngest next time we go. He wants to ride it for the first time and I"m sure that it is going to scare him into a "fit".

That picture is hilarious! Great update! :thumbsup2

On our trip last summer, we had a day of rain like that, at Epcot... we bought ponchos, but the rain was still so hard that it managed to wash the contact lenses out of DH's eyes! :lmao:

Well, this really begs the question... "Did it work??" :rotfl:

Great FOTLK karma... you squeaked in just in time to get the front row!!

Kathy

The Dinosaur picture/story is too funny!!! :rotfl2: Sounds like something I would do to my children. :rolleyes1 ;)

Boo for all that rain! You really lucked out with those FOTLK seats! :thumbsup2 And got some fantastic pictures!! That is my very favorite show! :goodvibes

but at that point, our shoes were soaked. YUCK! :sad2:

I hate that part of sticking it out at the parks in the rain. Squishy shoes.

What a great show this is! ::yes::

Sometimes that's just the thing to do - good hot showers, dry clothes, and hang out in bed. :thumbsup2
