Don't cancel your vacations yet!!!

We are 3 weeks out.
Looking at the system it seems it will fit our touring style very well. We like hitting RD and touring hard until lunch. We have a checklist of what we want to do/accomplish for that day. After lunch we take a break and go back to the resort for nap time. Then we go back to the park for a very leisurely evening. We didn't book very many evening FP+ because we didn't want to get on to hardcore of an evening schedule. For us it's about being there as much as riding rides. This year we are actually showing up on Sunday afternoon and doing evening EMH at MK and we already have FP for that evening booked. To me that is awesome.
My theory is this. I think the new Fastpass system will make rope drop even more appealing than ever before. I think more people will book FP+ after 11 so they will sleep in later and won't get to the parks until time for their first FP. Imagine opening to noon being even less crowded than before.
I am looking at all of the positives I can.
To me this is going to be THE BEST TRIP EVER!!

I can't understand your logic.

You didn't book evening FP+s, although that is the only real advantage to FP+ ... because you didn't want to and want to more, go with the flow and do RD.

Except you used to be able to pull ... 3, 4, 5 FPs at RD ?? Without Tiers, and now you will be able to pre book 3, with tiers which in some parks really = 1 ...

When you return in the evening, the non-hardcore rides currently are showing much longer wait times than pre FP+ ... like, doubling and tripling in some cases. And you wont be able to FP them ...

We also have a bunch of reports of SB lines growing faster in the morning, because, though you don't think they will, people are in fact booking FPs for the morning. Heck even on these boards where people should "know better" there is someone asking about his 9:35 Safari FP+ and whether she/he will make it in time from their breakfast...

I really do hope you have an awesome trip, but I can't see how you could possibly look at FP+, and the amount you will be able (or rather not be able) to do, and this its going to make your trip the best trip ever ??? :confused3

we just "squoze" in an extra surprise trip in feb. before our big one in October, and I am so glad we had a chance to experiment with FP+. So, maybe we don't get to pull 6 or 7 - but the great thing is, the limitations on EVERYONE opened up the general pool of available attractions, making it so easy to swap things out on the fly.

DO get the app so you don't have to hit those kiosks; the lines looked intimidating.

DO take advantage of rider swap for the big rides, if you have little ones - and basically use one FP for up to 4 people.

DON'T forget about the distance you'll travel between FP "appointments", try to map your trajectory with a little common sense!

Hakuna Matata, people. It's DISNEY, you will have fun no matter what!

Here, Here!:thumbsup2

We will be there a week from Sunday and we can't wait! My DW is putting her autograph book together as I type! The DSs are teenagers and they still can't wait to get out and have some fun! We simply cannot wait!

FP+ really shouldn't be that much of a factor in us having fun because we don't let stuff like that dampen us. If we see how it can be improved, we may discuss it, but we are there to have some fun, not to maximize our FP+ attendance and value.

I've learned my lesson on that a few trips back. We were in Animal Kingdom and I can remember this poor family- in a dead sprint to EE. They were running fast, sweat on their brow, screaming at their young children to hurry up. The kids were crying, so the mom snatched one child up by her arms and kept with the sprint-arguing and yelling at each other to hurry up.

Here's what I thought: That looks like real fun!:rolleyes2 And we made a vow to NEVER let stuff like fastpasses, scheduling or anything that has to do with a clock get us in stressful situations on vacation.

In short, YOU bring the Magic.

In short, YOU bring the Magic.

While I appreciate that positive attitudes are great and all.

If YOU want to bring the magic, I have a nice back yard you can set up a tent in, and YOU can bring the magic and have an awesome time, and I will only charge you $300/night plus $100/person /day for "back yard entry" per day.

You bring the magic and I am sure it will be worth it.

Why can't you just let it go and face the fact that some people just aren't upset and plan to still have a good time?

Why does anyone owe you (or others) an explanation of why they think they will have a great trip?

Myself, I'm still a bit apprehensive and now I'm worried about October crowds, but I don't feel the need to rain on other people's parades, unless they ask me to! :rotfl:

But last I checked this was a discussion board, and I like to discuss, including the merits of people's assumptions or assertions.

So ... yea.

oooooh, a discussion board. Thanks. :) Have a fun trip!

And the threads about the horrors of cUrrent FP+ are never visited by someone saying "I visited last November, and it was amazing".

See, the thing is, once you become one of them, you don't get to complain about them anymore. Otherwise you don't have to just look up the definition of "ironic", you also have to go look up "hypocritical".

You realize that for 15 years, you never saw that, right? Or if you DID, you knew those people would make their ride, even if they didn't. Now, the cold hard reality is if you forget a time, you could miss the only time you can easily ride something that you scheduled weeks ago.

And it is all DISNEYs fault.

You are just too negative.

You probably don't even have a waterfall in your backyard. Let alone a horribly forced perspective castle on the top of your house.

Plus your touring style is all wrong.

I'm not the ironic one. The people on this thread that attacked me early on in this thread AND an anti-FP+ thread are the hypocrites.

I do live 1500 Yards from Niagara Falls, like the actual falls, not the city. When you open my back door that's what you hear, the water falling and crashing to the gorge below :)

So I totally have a waterfall, but no, no castle. Though I love the Disney castle :)

I wouldn't be too happy to be 1500 yards from the falls. That was a pretty bad neighborhood when I lived In an apartment there for literally 6 hours, before realizing the mistake, and leaving.

Hrm, I live on the Canadian side ? In a nice new subdivision ?

Let's try to keep this thread positive. There will always be someone trying to turn it towards the negative but if you don't feed into it, they won't be able to.

BTW... My dance team thought it was magical enough to request we book for next year!!!

We just returned this past Monday from an 11 night stay at POR. I have to say our trip went pretty great and I really loved the whole magic bands and fast passes thing. Worked perfect every time, we were able to change things on the go and do most everything we wanted to. We did not add the charging capacities to our magic band as we wanted to be sure we kept in a budget (we had money on a Disney visa rewards card and a set amount of cash we took) but I can see where the convenience of it would be nice. Great time! And met a lot of really nice people!
