Don't answer the phone, it's her AGAIN!!

I'm so sad for you! I just found your Pre TR and I loved it and now I feel your confusion. Things will work out for the best, I'm sure. On my first Disney Trip, my brothers and I were all in middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade). For two of us, it was just fine. For one of my brothers, you would have thought we had left for a month instead of a week. So it can definitely go either way, depending on the teacher. I think whatever you decide, you will find a way to make it work!

I agree, drop some big news like that and then not post for 24 hours, how are we to survive  .

I agree but I think we should all chip in and buy a trip to the beach for Ktink:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 so she can do both :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 & I'm putting my 2 cents worth in right now!!!

ktink......
All kidding aside...and we have done lots of that:)

I have grown a fondness of you and your planning and your planning:)

Stepdisneys sentiments were so true and heartfelt:)

Family is #1 no matter where you are....my DH is always busy and any time together is quality time with the family.

Follow your heart and what works for you and your family. Disney will always be there....as far as school, public schools have really changed their policies as of late with dictating how parents "parent" their children. I think that traveling and vacationing with family and creating memories and traditions can be more influential in a child's future than 2-4 days of school work..but thats just me. By the time my kids graduate 8th grade.....I want them to be a "good person"...not just a "good student"
Thats enough from me....

ktink..we love ya:) Sent you a PM

To ktink, ditto the above.
To DisneyBride'03 well said.

Thanks:)
No one sounded glib at all either:)

I am sure ktink is feeling the love and support when she reads all of OUR comments:)

Well first of all THANK YALL for the thoughts and kind words. I kept away from the boards to try and make a decision with the family. We all talked about it and we've decided to cancel Disney. It really makes us sad to think we won't be going but then it is a relief to know that we can relax on vacation. I did call Disney and they said it would be about 2 or 3 weeks before we receive our refund and I was happy with that. I thought it might take longer.

In the mean time I finally found a nice condo on the beach that was open and I booked it this afternoon. We will be leaving July 14 for the beach! So Disney is cancelled and refund on the way and the condo is booked and paid for since we're inside 30 days. So all is WELL!

I have really enjoyed talking with you all and I will be on the boards as I'm very anxious to hear all about your Disney trips!

ktink, I understand, more than you know, how much family time means. :grouphug: I am very fortunate that my DH only works 14 days a month and he has 7 straight days off each month. We really enjoy our family time. Is a matter of fact my kids are more used to daddy being home than being at work. (Boy their life will really change if I get a job.) The key to a family vacation is, well, the family. Enjoy your time at the beach. We will actually be at the beach for the weekend of the 13th. But we are only a hour and a half from galveston (not the prettiest beach, but the kids get sand, sun, and fun) and we are able to enjoy the coast as a day trip. I long to see blue water and white sand though. I just told my best friend that I would like to plan a trip to Mexico with them in about 4-5 years (she is pregnant with twins, and I know all too well about that and travel). Anywany, I am sooooo glad for your decision and I hope you have a blast, and please write a trip-report on the boards. Everyone here really wants to hear and know how you and your family are doing. Disney will be here for the next trip you plan, and I sure most of us will be too.:flower3: Have a blast and don't forget the sunscreen.:cool1:

prejean princess, you're right family time is so important. It is actually difficult for DH to get off of work during the summer. He runs the farm that he works at and there are horseshows almost every Friday and Saturday night in the summer. But we really didn't want to start off on the wrong foot at the new school. Maybe next year after she is there and we can feel everything out perhaps a September trip would work.

It would be so nice if yall could make a trip to Mexico. I've been only once and it was gorgeous. But we are excited about the beach. We're going to Panama City Beach, they have really cleaned it up. I think it really used to draw some wilder crowds and I'm sure it still does but they have built some really nice properties. And if you want a good laugh... the "queen of changes" a.k.a. ktink, called and booked a condo this morning and it was $1600 decided to just look and be sure that was the one. Well I ended up finding another property for a couple hundred less and it's a 2 bedroom at a new property that opened in April. But that's it no more changes, they took my money and I won't be able to get it back. ;)

Just had to OMG & she made more chachachachanges....as he signs the song walking into no riding into no sitting @ the :surfweb: looking into the sunset :thumbsup2

ktink....you will be enjoying your vacation before all of us now!!! YOu will be lying on the beach with your drink of choice..(???) basking in the sun....I still want to hear details!! Disney or no Disney!!
Well if stepdisney and I do a mini mini dis meet now, we will toast to you:)

Hooray, the plans are finalized and set in "stone". :cool1:
Glad to see you have a great relxing time coming up soon. Now we will al be jealous that we have to wait months and you are now just down to a few weeks. ;)
I think the thing I remember best about going to PC was some little restaurant and gift shop that was setup on a pirate boat of sort or another. pirate: The memories are good, but just a long time ago, so the details may be off a little, but thats my story and I am sticking to it. So shiver me timbers and have a great time!

Shrimp and sand castles are always good in my books. But what I can't believe is you only have to wait 17 days now :thumbsup2 , I am still at 72  .

And in agreement with DB03 we still want to hear the full report

16 days, oh my goodness me!! Get those flip-flops and that bathing suit packed! Where is the sunscreen, the big floppy hat, the book, my drink...etc, etc, etc. I hear a satisfaction in your voice, wait, not voice....I mean words ???? I don't know what I mean but your words look like you are content (does that make any sense?)

Enjoy Margaritaville, the shrimp, the sun, the sand, your family. You HAVE to do a trip report and you CAN'T leave us because you are our personal trip change-of-plans bouncer offer (new word, look it up). We have to run every potential trip change by you for you approval.

As DisneyBride said of our mini mini WL meet, we will toast to Ktink. Get busy planning 2008 Disney :scared: (music from psycho shower scene plays in teh background :scared1: )

stepdisney we will have to do a Lapu Lapu in honor of ktink:)

Yes...you CAN start planning 2008's trip yahoo!
Keep us posted please...the pirate ship looks neat!

space ranger, thanks for the link. We've never been to the pirate ship but we'll have to check it out this time!

disneybride & stepdisney, you MUST have a lapu lapu for me!

Well we're just counting down the days now. The only thing that panics me is that I only have 2 weeks to do some major shopping. For some reason I feel you should have new clothes and shoes to go on vacation. I did order some Haviannas on flipfloptrunkshow. Yall keep me posted on ANY changes on your trips.

Ktink: wow, I stepped away for a day and missed all the action! Enjoy the beach, your posts about the tough decision between the beach and Disney made me appreciate where I live even more! (We live on Cape Cod). For us, the beach is home and we try not to take it for granted. The beach will definitely be a nice relaxing vacation, enjoy every minute of it!

Thank you so much! As I said I am really feeling sad about my decision today but we had to do what was best for DD. She really didn't want to miss school and she is hoping to run for student council. But hopefully we will make it sometime during winter break.
