Donating Points to Charity

Hi, first time to post! Is anyone aware of charities that could benefit from small point balances? For example, I have 16 point left in my use year that need to be used by 11/30-it appears I could rent/sell these but would rather donate them to a charity if there is one that collects small balances.

Welcome to the DIS.

Unless a charity has a DVC account where members could transfer points, there is no mechanism whereby they have any ability to use points. Several are happy to have reservations donated to them for the use of their benficiaries or staff.

Another option would be to rent the points and donate the proceeds to your charity of choice. Just offer them on the Rent/Trade Board and see what happens.

Just as an added bonus, if you take Doc's advice, you will get a tax deduction for the donation. If you directly donated the points, you would get no tax deduction.

If you don't care about the tax deduction, you can contact Give the Kids the World and talk to someone about renting a villa for a volunteer to use. We did.
