I plan to take along some sand toys for my young DDs to play with on Castaway Cay. I picked them up on clearance at end of summer and they were very inexpensive. I do not plan to pack them up and carry them back home with me. Can I donate them to Scuttle's Cove for future visitors to play with?

We didn't bring any toys, but our stateroom hostess gave us a bag that had been left from the previous cruise for her to pass on to another family. When we were done with them, we gave them back to her so that yet another family could use them.

I don't know about donating, but it's nice to leave them for the next cruise. And I think it makes your stateroom person look good too! :)

I was planning on stopping by a store on the way to port to buy some sand toys to take on the ship, since we will be going to the beach on our own on both St. Thomas and St. Maarten as well as Castaway Cay. I was just going to throw them away when we were done, but now I will let the stateroom attendant know to give them to a family on the next cruise.

By the way, does anyone know where a good place to stop is like a Wal Mart or something between MCO and the Port?

Kajohn...there is a Wal-Mart on Merrit Island but it is a bit of a drive. There is a dollar store about 2 miles down from the Radisson in Cocoa Beach (same saide of the street) that had sand toys for a buck. We picked up some other stuff there as well.

There is a Wal Mart just north of the airport MCO in State Road (SR) 436, Semoran Rd. It is on the left hand side (west) side of the road. Just take the north exit from the airport which turns into 436. The walmart is about 2 miles (if that) north. There is also a Walgreen's Drug store on 436 a lot closer if you don't want to venture that far. To get back on the Beeline (528), go south on 436 & the ramp to the hwy is on the right just before you enter the airport grounds.

Gillian...I'm glad to hear your stateroom host gave you sand toys, because when I was on the 5/11 inaugural, i ordered 2 sand bucket baskets for my girls from Shirley at the Perfect Gift and they had sand toys also, They were big sand buckets and when I left I gave them to our stateroom host along with the toys and asked them to give them to a family on the next cruise, who didn't have any sand toys with them. I always wondered if they would do that, but now hearing that your stateroom host gave you some left by another family, makes me think that our stateroom host also must have given them to someone.
