Wow, Dan I bet you are on cloud nine about this!!!! We all know how much you adore Miley Cyrus!

I haven't posted in forever, but then again it feels like it's been forever since I've been running.
Welcome to all the new Ducks.
I was supposed to do a half marathon on Sunday, but my best friend is in a band and I went a show of his the night before. They were the last band to play and it started late. I didn't get home until after 2am and there was no way I was going to get up at 6 am the next day to run. The friend has volunteered to pay for another race to make up for it. lol. :D Not sure if I'll take him up on that offer or not.

At this very moment, I'm working up the energy to go out running. I'm so blah due to a ton of rain we've been getting here.

Liz ~ I just want to say thanks for being so supportive of everyone on here and for saying nice things to me on Facebook. :) Good luck with the new shoes. I hope you are able to run again very soon with no pain.

Good memorial Day morning to everyone.
Well I signed up today for the Air Force half marathon on September 18. I hope I'm not going to over do it, I want to do the Detroit half marathon, also. That will be 2 weeks after the Wine & Dine.

Fiber One bars are the Devil! forget regular they are over achievers:lmao:

Have a good day everyone and remember our troops serving today and the ones that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
Joe

That is classic, LoL....You know what they say paybacks are a *&^*^

Joe- I was going to try to get the AF to pay for me to go to the AF half marathon, but decided to sign up for the wine and dine instead. I was thinking 3 half marathons in less than 30 days would be over kill.

I'm glad you are coming down to the Wine & Dine this fall. If you haven't been to the Food & Wine Festival, it is a lot of fun. I'll buy you a beer after the marathon to make up for the Mylie thing:thumbsup2.

I have to dust off one of my old squadron hats to wear at the AF half.

With the transition to the new uniform squadron hats are becoming a thing of the past. THe younger folks have never wore one or don't understand the pride with them.

Hello Ducks!!

Sorry I haven't been posting here. We got a puppy about a month ago and my life has completely changed since then. :rolleyes1 I rarely find time to get on my desktop these days.

I'm still chugging along and on Monday I was finally able to run for 30 minutes straight at 4.5 on my treadmill. Still super slow compared to many of you, but it's .5 faster than I was going just a short few weeks ago. Hoping to get to 5.0 (12 minute mile) in another couple of weeks.

Another 2 months until my husband returns from deployment and then I get to try running outside. :cool1:

Happy running! :goodvibes

I've been secretly wishing I could do the Wine and Dine half since they first announced it, and with so many of you doing it I want to even more! I wonder how crazy it would be to fly down for one night....wonder what dh would think about that... lol

Aw, thanks Jessica. :goodvibes Take your friend up on his offer!!

Liz, can you add me to the wine and dine in Oct? THX

done!

4.5 for 30 min, that's AWESOME C!! :cool1: You are doing so great, keep it up! You are totally on the right track for your races this fall and the half in Jan. I'm so happy for you!

Do it! Heck, come on down for 2 days!:goodvibes It does seem like we're having a fantastic turnout for the Food and Wine; gonna make it all that much more fun.

I've been getting out more, but I'm much slower (even for me) than I was last year. Could be because I've been fighting an upper respiritory thing which seems to have zapped some of my energy. Good thing there's still plenty of time to build back up.

Happy June everyone!

Well, My race on Monday was stinky!!! I didn't feel good to begin with, it was very hot and I have not been eating well..
I was dead last at 47 min.
I think it sort of took an emotional toll as well.. I had planned to run this evening but I soo don't want to go. I really need to try and get better at my time as well as extending the length of running. I am going to start timing myself from now on...

Liz,

I am going down for only a day maybe two. DO IT!!!!!! DO IT!!!!!!:woohoo:

Everyone has a stinky race at some point, please don't let it get you down.
Timing yourself is a great idea. I use a Garmin205 (huge on my wrist), so that when I'm out walking I know what my pace is. It really helps me 'pick it up' when just don't feel like going faster.

Thanks,
I did get out yesterday and ran 4.56 miles and I really pushed myself to pick it up when I had more energy and when I ran down hill a bit. My time was 51 min. I am hoping to do this loop in 40 min.

Good job on the run, I have to agree with the previous posts that we all have bad runs/races every once in a while and during this part of the year I have them all of the time. Keep up the good work :yay:

Whew! It's hot out there!
Planned on doing 6 miles, but only did about 3.5

I went out at 10AM, gotta start earlier tomorrow.

Happy Friday everyone! :goodvibes

Liz - I'm a bit in the same boat that you are. That is, I'm really frustrated at my training. I cut a deal with myself that if I ran on the treadmill all winter (meaning November through March - 5 MONTHS!), I would get to run outside come April. Well, as you know, on the fifth day of April, I landed in the hospital. And ever since, my training has been back on the treadmill to keep an eye on the heart rate. I'm bummed because I broke the deal with myself. Going to the basement and the treadmill is no fun in the summer. In fact, I haven't been down there in about 10 days.

And I REALLY had my heart set on running the W&D Half in October. Really.

Why don't we both sign up together right now? It'll give us both a reason to keep in shape over the summer, to motivate us to keep moving (whether that's running or walking), to go to WDW, and it'll give us reason to finally meet all the other Ducks in EPCOT after the race.

What do you say?!? Let's do it!

Well Renee, Dan, Sharon and all, I just might be doing the Wine and Dine Half!!! So Renee, I will be deciding VERY SOON if I am doing it.

I thought about it, priced it out, had the all important conversation with dh and right now there's a high chance I'm going to do it. I just need to let it sink in a bit and make sure I've got my ducks in a row (haha, no pun intended).

Of course this means I'm going to have to somehow get past all this crud I seem to be dealing with as far as aches/pains/injuries and still not having a good pair of running shoes. eek. But, I know I can walk it if I had to, and chances are I'll be able to at least do a run/walk. So even if I can't run the entire thing, that's ok. This will be a BIG OLE MOTIVATOR and I think I need that right now.

Now, to help me think about this and make potential plans....what are everyone's plans for that weekend?? Tell me everything! Where are you staying, how long will you be there, are you going solo? I will be solo so I would love to meet up with any of you guys over the weekend, and we must do a planned Ducks meet, right?! I'll have an Annual Pass so I can do some park time. I don't know yet if I would fly down Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. I want to stay as cheap as possible on property so I'm thinking POP and maybe I can get an AP rate...I need to see if those are available...

Happy Sunday everyone!

I finished my first race this morning, the Dexter / Ann Arbor 10K. The time on my gps phone put me at 58:40. That is a minute faster than my goal, so I'm pretty happy about that. At the last mile a band at the side of the rode was playing "Flying Home Now" from Rocky, I think that pushed me to speed up. i am not used to running in a crowd, but I enjoyed myself and look forward to my next event.
Liz: Put me down for the Air Force half marathon at Dayton Ohio on September 18th.
I'm glad to hear more people are coming down for the Wine & Dine and you are thinking about coming also.
For our plans, Debbie and I are driving down, checking into AKV Kidani Village on September 30th and we check out on the 5th. I would like a Duck meet, that would be fun either before the race or during the after party. We are still debating on both running the 5K in the morning and doing the Halloween party on Sunday (they are a lot of fun). we have annual passes also, so a get together on Friday after the expo at any park is no problem.
Have a good week everyone.
Joe

Here are my plans:

I'm going for two weeks (my annual pilgrimage) with my brother this year. Our dates are 25 September through 9 October. We'll be staying a BLT from 25 September to 1 October, then moving to BWV from 1 October to 9 October.

My brother has severe fibromyalgia, so he has good days and bad days. He'll go to the parks on his good days, then hang out at the resort on his bad days, so my plans are pretty loose. I'll spend time in the parks alone, doing the attractions I like (that I know he won't do). I know he won't be there to cheer me on at the 5K (way too early for him), but he might be there for the half. I kinda doubt it, because it has too many unknowns to it, and he doesn't deal well with unknowns (where will Renee be at the finish, when will she get there, what will the after-race party entail, etc...just too many unknowns for someone who has anxiety attacks).

Since I already signed up for the 5K on Saturday morning (I'm psyched about running in all four parks in one day!), I got a ticket to MNSSHP for Sunday evening (3 October). If he's up to it, I'll buy my brother a ticket for that party also, but there's no gaurantees.

Bottom line, I'll be free to hang with the Ducks on Friday, post-expo, or Saturday, post-half marathon. My brother will be the wild card, but that's okay. He understands his limitations and isn't bothered by people leaving him behind. He'd rather rest and be alone than drag down everyone else's fun.

It'd be great if you could find another solo Duck and maybe bunk together and save some bucks. Maybe?

Keep us informed of your decision, Liz. I've had a depressing weekend and need something to motivate me off my feathers...
