Hello,

Hello Vic & Airman when and where is the AF Half?

I'm a retired AF spouse and would love to show my support and enter also.

Thanks,
Colleen

Thank to Tanya posting that the Disney Visa deal was out for marathon weekend...I am now registered for Goofy 2013! It's for real now! I paid the fee so I HAVE to do it! Lol I'm excited!!!!

Liz: I just paid for the Goofy too! So I'm in with you! :yay:

I had posterior shin splints & I've also been working with a new chiropractor who has been working on my tight back & pelvis. He "says" my time should improve & my knee pain should also go away!
Everyone ready for the Easter Bunny? :rolleyes1

Happy Easter Eve:goodvibes

Hope everyone is doing good this weekend. I had a good 8 mile run this morning at a 10 minute mile pace. Wednesday I ran 5 miles after work in 45 minutes. I think my legs are cooperating.
I am working on achieving Augie Speed. I think I need to start riding my bike to work and grow a beard, that should work.:thumbsup2
WTG to the Ducks signed up already for the Goofy. I'm still planning on doing the full marathon if I can make it to Florida in January.
I have my second non Disney half marathon next Saturday. I'm looking forward to it, hopefully I can get a good time.:hippie:
The twinkie 5K I did last week was fun. I planned on taking it easy after the 10 mile run I did on Saturday, but I think the sugar rush I got from eating the first twinkie at the start must have done something to me, I finished the run in 29 minutes and that stopping to eat 2 twinkies. I don't recommend eating hostess cakes while running.
Well have a good Easter weekend!

Joe

Good afternoon Ducks!

DH and I ran the Crescent City Classic 10K last weekend with some friends. Had a great time. Ate some REALLY good food in New Orleans. We both got the times we needed to show proof of our anticipated finish time for the ToT 10-miler. Have to admit I was a little disappointed - my pace was 10:20. I was hoping to come in under a 10:00. But, between the crowds and the food I had eaten the day before, I can't complain too much.

Funny side story - when we went to pick up our kids from my mom, DD4 asked if we won the race. DH did not miss a beat. He looked her right in the face and said "We sure did!". She was so impressed, it was all I could do not to laugh.

But low and behold this morning...my pace was 9:14 for my 5K. When I looked at my watch at Mile 1 it said 8:55. Where was that speed Saturday?!? Ah well, just excited that I had a good run this morning.

I emailed our times to Run Disney and they responded right away. We are all ready for corral placement. Can't wait until September!!!!

Robyn: How are you doing with your running & asthma?
Jen: AWESOME time with your 5K!
Joe: What do you mean IF you can make it in January? WE NEED YOU!
Vic: Is the knee still doing well?

I finally ran a whopping two miles yesterday. It felt SO GOOD to run, but my endurance needs work. Starting from scratch. Oh well..better than not running at all! :thumbsup2

Yes Joe, riding to work is a great idea! I love doing it. Good time in your race, Jen! Good that you are out running again, Karin. I have also begun to run more now that the weather is nicer. I have a race this Sunday, a 20k bike with a 5K run. And next weekend is my first tri! I am hoping the swim portion goes well. Keep running, everyone, and have a great weekend!

Hey Ducks!!

it has been a while and I've had issues getting on the site for a couple days.
Hope your running is going well!!
My family is going tomorrow to Hershey PA for the Hershey 10k.. I have never run a 10k but my 6 mile runs are my favorite so it should be a nice race.

I bought new shoes since I have a difficult time finding Adidas Supernova Glides in stores and I always wait until I need shoes very badly before I start looking.. I got a pair of Saucony. So far so good..

It is Friday the 13th... oooohhhhh.... Best of luck to all of you this weekend.

Happy Saturday Ducks! Well this week was a zero miles week for me. The boys were on Spring Break which meant I'd have to run on the tm, and I just wasn't motivated/disciplined enough to do so. I'll be back at it this coming week though.

So after registering for Goofy I am thinking about my plans for that weekend. I had it all set in my mind that I'd be staying at POFQ. But now I'm thinking about staying in a studio at OKW. I have enough points so it would be zero dollars out of pocket. And I can still walk to the corrals from there. I'd want to get a room close to the Hospitality House so that the walk to the corrals is still short. But I wonder if a studio close to HH will still be available 7 months out (we don't own at OKW)?? I have to do some research on that...

Lol...yes bike riding and beard growing may push you over the edge to Augie speed! You are doing awesome though!

Congrats on your 10K Jeni! You are fast!
My kids asked me if I won races when I first started doing them too. Lol

Good luck tomorrow Karen! Have some chocolate for me!

Did 3 miles today in the 75 degree weather. A little pull on the calf but bearable.

Karen: How was Hershey?
Joe: Is Debbie going to do the Donald in January? Her time this weekend was AWESOME!
Augie: How was your race this weekend?
Liz: I'll bet you'll be able to get a studio @ OKW with no problem. OKW never seems to fill up (well, unless it's one month out & even then you can be lucky!)

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Augie & Karen nice job on your races this weekend. Did I miss anyone else?
I had a good Martian Half marathon yesterday. My official time was 2:06:01. I am very happy with this, I beat my PR by 10 minutes. The course was was nice and somewhat flat.

I met a couple of WISHers before the race, saw 2 other cheering on the course (I think the parents of the couple we met). Another WISHer was working one of the water stations and cheered me on at the last mile. That was a pick me up. We were chatting on the FB WISH page that morning, so knew to look out for them. I have been wearing my WISH shirt at every race this year and I get a lot of comments on the DNF motto on the back. I have lil Donald with me on every race, a link to this group to keep me going.

Debbie did really good on her half (she came out of retirement to run this). She had a good time because they didn't have any bathrooms on the course to stop at. I think in the park near the halfway point one of the bathrooms was open, but they didn't advertise it very well. I got a couple hot spots on my foot and my calfs are sore, but came out without any other problems. I am taking my Monday run off then getting back on the road to get ready for my trail run half in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to that one. I am having a good time with the training runs and races, but I have been slacking off on the cross training lately, I have to get back into the Bob Harper workouts again.

Have a good week Mighty Ducks!

Joe

Karin~That's what I thought (about having no trouble at OKW) but now I'm not so sure. The studios near the Hospitality House are already going...Friday and Saturday night were still there as of this morning but Sunday night is gone (and I need Sunday night). So now I have to decide if I want to book a regular studio there and hope for a good location...if there are even any left at the 7 month window...

Joe~Congrats again on your awesome half! And Debbie too! You guys rocked it!! :cool1:

Joe
That looked like a fun race! Great job for you and Deb

The Hershey 10k was so much fun.. I wrangled in a couple of my friends to do it with me. We decided to stay at the Hershey camp ground in a cabin while there. Man, making smore's and grilling for dinner was a blast.
Chocolate is always a plus but Hershey is a bit hilly. It was tough and boring the first half. Once I hit the 5k mark I got my grove and sped through the last and funnest part. I ended with a 11:1 per mile. I am getting stronger each race.

Thanks for ALL the encouragement!! You guys are the best!!

Joe, great time on your half!! (are you growing a beard?) Deb had a great time also, guess you will be in good shape for January! Karen, way to go on the 10K! My race went pretty well, though there was a mixup with the chips, and they did not have a time for me. Though I knew I did ok, I passed a bunch of people on the bike portion, and was only passed by three riders, two of whom were on aero bikes, and I repassed one of them on the climb. Run was good also, the distance was a bit more than a 5k, and I was only passed by one runner. Just got an email tonight, they corrected my time and wound up 30th overall and second in my age group. I have to learn to transition a bit quicker, probably lost a minute in that.

Have a great week, everyone! Keep running!

Well I have my reservation made for marathon weekend! I ended up renting from an OKW owner. I have the first two nights in a studio near the Hospitality House, then the third night in a regular studio. And that one is waitlisted for one near the HH too. I'm prepared for the waitlist to not come through and it will be ok. I'm just glad that I'm going to be at the front of the resort for sure for the race mornings so that I can walk to the corrals! Now I just need to find some other people to walk with me from OKW...I don't want to go on the WDW roads in the wee hours of the morning all by my lonesome!

Joe

Speedy Augie does it again, 2nd if your age group, wow!

Way to go Joe & Augie!

Robyn - How's the asthma?

It's been raining here a lot. But this morning, the skies parted just long enough to get my run in! As soon as I finished, the skies opened up again. Apparently, God is a runner.

My business partner is joining DH and I for the TOT 10-Miler and Marathon. We did custom t-shirts for the Half, so we are already planning for next year. I made a suggestion for our Maraton shirt today that got me branded as a total nerd. It was simple.

The shirt would read:

In Loving Memory
of Pheidippides
530 BC–490 BC

:rotfl2:

COME ON! That's funny right???

You guys have all been doing great! Glad to hear my fellow ducks are still quacking around the pond. This one's been sitting in the nest lately. Between the kids' activities, spring break, and illnesses, my running has taken a huge backseat. Like way in the back of the bus!

Hopefully I can get back to it with the rest of this week. Next week is a little getaway for DH and me :lovestruc so who knows how much running I'll actually do. ;) and then whaddya know..... Expedition Everest Challenge will be upon me before I know it! I think my DD running with me may be just the motivation I need to actually run it rather than walk it! :rotfl: Keep up the good work ducks, I'll catch up with you all soon!

Jeni~That's great! :thumbsup2 I like reading interesting shirts during the races...and I think a lot of people would find that amusing!

Tanya~I would say you may as well stay towards the rear of the bus until after your EEC trip. :)

OK, I had to look this up, but it is kind of funny. I saw a good shirt at last year's W&D, there was a group with shirts that said "It's not a marathon until your nipples bleed". I learned this the hard way! The other day I saw a bumper sticker that read "My sport is your sport's punishment". I thought that was funny.
