Hello Ducks!

I just came upon a great deal for anyone that qualifies to stay at the Shades of Green resort. www.shadesofgreen.org Active Duty or Retirees. Check online for further details online. End of Summer Special.

I just booked a room for Sept 28 for two nights for an awsome price of $88.00 per night!! I would have paid about $138.00.

Hotel is located within walking distance of the POLY to access the monorail.

Book soon before this deal slips away.

Thanks
Colleen

Hello Ducks,

Just would like to let you know that While the Shades deal is valid. It is not a "HOST" hotel for the TOT so if anyone winds up staying there they would have to find their own way over to the starting area. Buses will only transport participants back to HOST hotels only.

Good evening Ducks! Hoping everyone is doing well.

Not much, ok, nothing to report from the training side of the house. I decided to give the knee a month of no exercise and see if it just needs the time to heal up, and I've been so flipping busy I haven't had time to do much of anything anyhoo. We'll see if that works out.

Augie - I was only able to spend Saturday at the track. But here are a few pictures. 2012 Gatornationals

Hello everyone! I have been reading posts for some time now, but everytime I try to post, it seems like I screw something up. In any case, I figure I'll get it right eventually...

More to the point - It is time for me to quit reading these conversations and join in. We are a family of 3 that runs together. We still consider ourselves beginners, because even though we have been running for about 2 years - there is still so much to learn! In fact, we JUST tried the galloway method for the first time a few days ago! I think I'm going to like it.

We will be participating in EEC 2012. First time-can't wait!

After that, my DH and I are considering training for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Maybe. However, until this point, the farthest we have gone is a 5k distance - so I don't know...

:welcome:

How exciting is it that your whole family runs!! I was the first in my family but my DD(10) just started with me. I love the time together!

think about the ToT 10 miler, that may be a great start if you think 13.1 is too far.

Hey Ducks!!

I have just signed up for the Hershey 10k on April 15th. I am excited. I have yet to do a 10k but after two halfs, it should be a piece of cake!

I am on my way out to finally start running again after the Princess Half. Time to get moving again:woohoo:

Hello,

I found out that the "HOST" hotels for TOT 10 miler are as follows:

Vic, thanks for the pictures! Can't wait for Englishtown!

Weather is getting nicer, I have to get out and start running again. Lots of events coming up in the next few months.

Joe
btw: Carissa, Debbie was singing the "wubba wubba" song all day yesterday.

:rotfl: Cool! "If you wubba me then I will wubba you." :rolleyes1

Welcome to the group! These ducks are a great bunch of people. :grouphug:

Top O the Pond to the Ducks:shamrock:
Debbie & I did the ShamRock & Roll 10k this morning. We had perfect weather (50 degrees at the start). The race went good, I finished in 58:09, a personal best time for me. I am working on getting up to Augie speed, I have a ways to go.
Vic: cool pictures. I don't know anything about dragsters, but the sign guy in me appreciated the car graphics.
Moira: Do they make a big deal about St. Patricks day in Ireland like they do here? Coming home from Desert Storm in 91 we had an hour layover in Shannon Ireland on St. Patricks day, the only thing I remember is we were the 4th plane to land that day with military people and the bar at the airport was out of beer.
nbmanatee: welcome to the group!

Have a good week everyone, my next race is a martian theme half marathon in April, so I have a couple Saturday long runs I need to get in.

Well done on your race:thumbsup2 We do make quite a big deal of St Patricks Day (everyone gets a day off school/work or a day in lieu of it) but you guys tend to celebrate things much better than we do:worship: There is a parade and fireworks through the city centre and lots of free concerts etc going on but if you have kids its better to leave at tea-time (or at least before the bars empty:scared1:) as theres lots of green beer on the go;)
Cant believe they ran outta beer at the airport on you especially when you really deserved that drink! Mind I've heard stocks of guiness get low in certain parts due to a duck called Carissa:lmao: Just saying:rotfl2:

Hey Ducks!

So I am apparently in bad shape right now... I've been running consistently three times a week since I started back up three weeks ago. I started with 2 milers and moved up to 3 milers last week. My times are so slow, and the runs are not easy. My breathing is difficult and my legs feel like jello after the first 1.5 miles or so. I did today's 3 miles in 34:57 and it was hard! I'm not sure what's going on with me, but hopefully things will improve soon because this is very annoying. I should not be having a hard time like this. Argh!

I updated Post #2 with the races y'all have mentioned...let me know if anything needs changing.

Congrats to those who completed races so far this month! woohoo! :thumbsup2

nbmanatee~Welcome to the group! We're glad to have you with us! That's great your family runs together and you're doing the EEC! :)

Hello,

Liz - I hope things get better with your running.

I also had issues this morning with my left leg hope that clears up when I do my next workout. Summer has arrived in N. FLA. Highs this week are 85 already! 10 degrees above normal readings. So I have retreated back to my walking the indoor hallways in the comfort of the AC.

I have a new recruit. She did the Gate 15K with me and is also registered for TOT. We both plan to be at the Disney Half in Jan. also. I haven't seen a course map yet for TOT maybe later as it gets closer. Only 6 months!!
Yaay! :cool1:

Stay cool ducks.

Thanks Colleen :) And I hope your leg feels better! Sure is frustrating when our bodies don't cooperate with what we want them to do... ugh

Yeah, it has certainly been warm lately! We've been in the 80's the past several days in a row. I love the warm weather so I am loving this! It has me a tad worried though...with the very mild winter and now warmer spring, I wonder what summer will be like. eek!

That's great you have a friend running these races with you!

This morning I ran 3 outside and it went a LITTLE better. My legs still felt like jello starting after 1.5 miles and my breathing was hard. But it's done. I'll just keep doing my best and hope my body kicks back into it's normal running gear!

Oh, I started a thread for marathon weekend: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2898010

Hope all the injured Ducks get well soon. I am in the same boat, Liz, I ran Tuesday for the first time since January and my legs are a little sore still. Going to try today, hope I recover for my 4 mile race this Sunday.

April and May are looking busy. I signed up for a race called the Brooklyn Bun, a 20K bike followed by a 5K run. the following week I do my first solo tri. But it won't be all work, there are two beer fests also, one at a ski area that has a zip line that I have made a reservation for. http://www.ziplinenewyork.com/

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

liznboys and ahoff - in the immortal words of airman "It gets better." ;)

Before I took off a few weeks ago, I was running about a 9:30 pace. When I went back it was up to 11:20. :scared1: And everything was sore. But I'm getting better, down to 9:53 as of today, and you will too!

Anyone have any ideas for a running-related gift for my DH for Easter? He has the basics: shoes, GPS watch, clothes. I was trying to get something he might not know about.

Hope everyone heals where needed!
And Welcome nbmanatee! :yay:

Jen: How about sunglasses? Fuel belt or Camelbak? A basket of "goodies"? Biofreeze, Clif shot blocks, Gatorade, Foam Roller/Stick, Ipod, etc.?

Here are my upcoming races:
I've got a 5K on Saturday, the 31st
Wine & Dine in November
Goofy 2013

Stay well & Happy Spring!

Howdy Ducks! :cool1:

I hope everyone who has been struggling is starting to improve. :grouphug:

My big news is that we're finally planning another FAMILY trip to WDW! My husband and boys haven't been back since our last trip in early 2009. We always said we'd go when my husband retired from the Navy, which he does next year. We got the news that he'll be deploying in the next few months (and gone most of the time before that as they prepare) so we've decided to plan a trip for when he returns. It gives us something to look forward to and something fun to do while he's gone.

I think we've decided to stay at the cabins at Fort Wildnerness, which will be a first for us. I'm really excited about it! :woohoo:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
