Mickeyfan74: I do run/walk ratios too. Run 3 minutes, walk 1. I find it makes me run even faster than straight running & I enjoy it more too. GOOD LUCK with your training. You can do it! :thumbsup2

Did 4 miles yesterday @ 9:32 pace. Lovin the stress-free runs knowing I have time to prepare for January. Still debating doing both the Donald and Chip & Dale. Hmmm...

W&D Ducks have safe travels, a wonderful race & an awesome time in Disney! Looking forward to reports & pictures.
 
Good Morning Ducks! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I ran two times over the weekend. Saturday was a family outing with my wife hitting the 4.5 mile mark. It is the longest distance she has done outside of being at the WDW Parks.:rotfl2: So Saturday we (DW, DD3, & myself) went for a run/walk. The weather was great, sunny and 60. We did 4.5 miles down a concrete/rock path along a creek. It was beautiful and refreshing to say the least. DD wanted out of the jogger so we let her walk a mile at the end and she kept telling us to speed up. Nothing like a 3 yr old pushing you.

Hey thanks for all the helpful tips for me to walk/jog my first half in JAN!

Maddykins I'll try that 3/1 run/walk tip in my training.

Completed my first 5K walk on Sat (9/24) time was 42 minutes. It was discouraging due to the layout of the course the first 10 minutes was a huge bottleneck for the walkers. Got a bit better as the course opened up though.

I live in the greater GNV, FL area and would love to find someone to train with. Most times I walk in the A/C halls of UF! :). Also I walk evenings around my house.

I did a 15 mile and a 10 mile ride on the stationary bike this week. I will ride one more time before heading south on Friday. :thumbsup2
I'm looking forward to the extended weekend at WDW! Any Wine & Diners attending rope drop at MK on Saturday for the 40th anniversary? Debbie and will be there for a while before hitting Epcot for some lunch at F&W.

Renee~Thanks, yes my head cold is gone. However seasonal allergies have kicked in so that's "nice". lol Better than being sick though.
WTG on your 11+ miles! I know that made you feel more ready for this.

Joe~I forgot you and Debbie are at POR too. Tanya and I are meeting up there and taking the bus to the start together. Join us if you want!
Kelly and I won't be at MK rope drop Saturday. We're doing MNSSHP Friday night and staying until they kick us out! So, we will hopefully be sound asleep for awhile Saturday morning. No parks for us that day, well, until Epcot that night, of course.

AsForMe~Only 3 days until W&D, can't believe it! I haven't been running due to my right leg hurting...so I have been biking instead. I'm glad I was already planning to take this race easier because it definitely wouldn't be a PR race now!

I have a TON to do over these next two days before my friend and I head to the airport Friday morning. So I'll be signing off now until next week. Have a great week and weekend Ducks!

Born and raised in Brooklyn, but currently in my last year of college upstate. Seeing life on the other side has really made me appreciate how good I have it in my mom's basement! Can't wait to be back in the city full-time. :thumbsup2

I have been getting back into the swing of things, running 2-3 miles almost every other day. I wanted to do the Tunnel to Towers 5K in NYC this past weekend but unfortunately kids and family commitments took precedence. I definitely plan to do it next year. In the meantime I am contemplating the Princess Half - anyone else?

I wanted to do the tunnel to towers race as well.. I too had to much going on at home. I hope next year.
I am signed up and making plans for the Princess Half.. You should too!!
 
Hey team! I wanted to share some great progress I made yesterday. After scaling back on my distance each day (from 5 miles to 5K), I decided yesterday I wanted to do a slow-pace, long-distance run. I knocked out 8.5 miles (a new PR) in 85 minutse (10 minute mile exactly). It's much slower than I used to run when I was doing the 5 miles, but my long-term goal was to run a half marathon in Jan. 2013. I feel like I may do that half marathon much sooner than previously expected and at a much better time!

Thought I would ask if anyone has any experience with Jeff Galloway's training plans? Specifically for the Half Marathon? I downloaded his plan through the RunDisney site and started it today. If I stick with it I will be running the Princess in February. It's either the Princess or the W&D for me next year! :yay:

CONGRATS to everyone who ran the W&D! Which do you find easier: running a Disney HM at an ungodly hour of the morning or running late at night?
