Heeeeey Ducks!

I can't believe we're 2.5 weeks away from W&D! I'm excited!! My running hasn't been good lately though. Life got in the way, bigtime. School started and somehow my life got crazy!

I did do a 10 miler two weekends ago and it went well. My planned 11 miler this past weekend ended up being only 5...just didn't have it in me that night. I'll try to do 11 this weekend instead. And that'll be my longest run before W&D.

Last year for W&D my goal was to finish in around 2:30 (and I did, yay). This year I am purposely going slower. I just want to finish in under 3 hours. I want to feel better right after the race so I can enjoy the park a bit before it closes.

Renee!....lol....you are too funny... ;)

Augie, Joe, Renee, Tanya...if you want to, let's plan a meet for right before the race, in the Start area. Last year we met up near a big water table. I remember how crazy it was that night, dark, noisy, lots of people! But we did manage to find each other so I guess it worked. Looking at the Start area map it appears that water table will be there this year, too. Should we meet up right there again?

Edited to add the map. There's the "Start Water" table there in orange:

Sounds like a plan, Liz! it appears they reversed the field somewhat, the stage is on the opposite corner. And it looks like they added more corrals.

I hope we are all having a good week! It's getting close!

Doing the Philly Rock n Roll Half with Shannon (bounceliketigger) this weekend. Hey, it's not Disney - but I'm getting away for the night. Can't wait to hear if Wine and Dine made improvements. I wasn't ready to go back yet for that one. I think I might NEED that new Donald medal, though. (Even though I enjoy the timing of the Princess much better!)

Sure, I'm up for meeting anyone! Not sure yet what I'll be wearing. Gotta keep an eye on the weather forecast - I tend to be a cold runner. I much prefer the sun and warm temps.... :confused3 I don't know why?!

Anyway, just wanted to add I ran 8 miles last Saturday and 5 on Tuesday (doing 5 again later this AM), and both averaged about a 12:30 minute/mile!!! :woohoo: That's thrilling for me to get back to nearly my old pace after having knee surgery. Exciting stuff - I know you guys will understand!!!

Shannon and Laura - GOOD LUCK and have a great time this Sunday in Philly! Make the Ducks proud! We'll be cheering you on from here. :cheer2:

Joe and Augie - Friday evening is good for me, but I'll be running the 5K on Saturday morning with my BFF, in addition to the half that night, so let's not make it a late night, eh? PM your cell numbers to me and I'll do the same. I don't have the same phone as last year (I moved from Canada to Texas this year, remember?). We can touch base on Friday. My BFF and I will be in DHS that day, then plan to go to the expo after lunch. We can come back and hit the elevator and the limo after the expo with you guys. Deb, too!

Tanya - You want to join us on Friday, the 30th at DHS for a spin in the RnR limo? I'm ridin' shotgun with Augie! For some reason, I sense that Liz wouldn't join us, even if she had the time or was coming to the park. ;) That's okay. There's always January! :scared1:

Joe and Liz - Hope you get some good running in this weekend - something to really boost the ego and hold you through W&D!

Truth be told, I was sooo disoriented last year at the start of the W&D at the WWoS. I couldn't have found the "water table"! YES - I'm in for meetin' up before the race. Just set a time and I'll work hard to get there this time.

I'm gonna attempt a 10-miler this Friday. Keep in mind, three weeks ago, I was running 10 MINUTES as my long run. :rotfl2: I ran 5 miles this morning. All is still good.

I like your plan, Liz. I remember the after-party that you had last year. Not much of a party... Since my injury in August, I've had to reset my goals for W&D. The first four always stay the same. My fifth goal has changed a bit. My fifth goal is a finish time under 2:30 this year. We'll see.

Quack on!

Hello Ducks! Sounds like we have a few plans for the W&D! Will be seeing you all Friday night and Saturday night!

Good luck with all the races and running this weekend! Have a great time in Philly, Laura and Shannon. Good luck with the 10 miles, Renee. I registered for a 10K on Saturday, that will be my big mileage before the W&D.

Shannon & Laura,
What corral are you ladies in? I'm in 17.
I'm heading to the Expo on Friday morning.
Hope to meet you ladies on Sunday!

Karin

Howdy Ducks!

Hope all of you heading to The World for the Wine and Dine have a great race and a fantastic time! :cool1: :cool1:

I had a great week last week. Worked out 4 days in a row and was feeling good. But my STOOPID neck and migraine issues always seem to get in the way when I begin to get on track. I hate to use it as an excuse, but there are many days where I just can't see getting on the bike or treadmill with the way I'm feeling. Hoping next week will be a better one. :thumbsup2

Yesterday I booked our (Liz and I) room at Pop for January!

Hope everyone is doing well and have a good weekend!

I am 15 and Shannon is 21. They are NOT strict at all, so we can start together. Are you going to the Expo? If you don't already have company, feel free to join us for dinner!

Now, as is usual, I am SICK again right before the race. My body aches and I can't imagine running. This is the first week I have not really followed my MCM training schedule. I am doing Philly as a training run, but was looking forward to it. Guess I will have to take it real easy!

Oh, I would totally be your girl if I didn't make plans already! That's my only night to catch Illuminations, and I've made plans to finally eat at Chefs de France. I know, I know, not the right kind of food for 24+ hours prior to a race. But I've had to cancel that meal on 2 past trips and I'm determined to eat there this time! ADR is at 5pm. And I will be riding RnRC on Monday morning - right before my Lunch with an Imagineer. See, I get to do fun things on this trip sans kids, so it's a treat. ;) Hope you guys have fun though!!

Oh no Laura! I hope you feel better!
I'm just using the half as a training run for January as well. (just aiming for a pulse @ the end) :rotfl:
Yep, I'm going to the Expo but on Friday though. Are you ladies going on Saturday? My DH is working all weekend, so I have my munchkin on Saturday.
THANK YOU FOR THE INVITE! I'd like to meet up with you ladies before the race.

I'll PM my cell to you.

Hi everyone,

Liz: it sounds good about meeting near the water table.
Renee and Augie: I'll let you know when we get to Hollywood Studios on Friday.
Augie: good luck on the 10K this weekend.
To the Ducks running the Philly race this weekend: Good luck and have fun!

I had a good 5 mile run on Tuesday, my ankle and knee are still a little sore, but it feels like it is getting better. I am going up north this weekend to see my parents and I am planning on doing a run in the neighborhood.
I had a envelope on my porch this morning with 2 Disney bag tags and our trip itinerary. Starting to get excited, I might have to bring up the suitcase and start thinking about what to pack. :thumbsup2
Have a good weekend everyone!
Joe

Hi everyone, how has everyones weekend been?
We have had nice weather here in Alabama this weekend. DW and I walked/jogged a 5k Saturday afternoon. She is doing great with her training, she has gained a little speed in the last three weeks. (About 1 min/mile) She missed her run Thursday night and actually came home and said she missed not getting it in. So I believe she is getting the running bug. We still have a long way to go to make it to January but if she keeps at it she'll be good to go.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Tim

Augue and Joe - Got your phone numbers now. We'll see you on Friday night at the Studios!

Augie - Hope your "long run" this weekend went well! Time for you to start tapering your runs for the W&D. ;)

Tim - Good to see the running is going well for you and yours! Hope the weather has turned just a bit for you - in the direction of cooler. :hippie:

And how did our Philly three-some do?!? Any PR's? Hopefully lots of fun and satisfaction in running! Report in when you can, ladies!

I got a 10-mile run in on Friday, so I think I'm good to go for the W&D Half now. My hamstrings are killing me today, but I'm chalking that up to the 2-plus hours I spent pulling weeds in the alleyway behind my house on Saturday morning. The jungle back there gets to a point wherre it scratches the car paint job. My hamstrings really hurt today, so I'm sitting out until Tuesday. I'll hit the gym tomorrow morning for weights.

Have a GREAT week, Ducks! Less than two weeks until W&D. Ten days until I fly to Orlando! :dance3: Quack on!

I saw Karin at the beginning of the race. She was doing a 3:1 interval, but I was having some trouble getting my breathing down because I was sick. I didn't see her at all the rest of the race . . . but we finished within 11 seconds of one another!!!!! I did not set a PR due to being sick - but it was a PR kind of day. The weather was perfect and the course was flat (but a little crowded). I did a lot of weaving at the beginning and end.

I will let Shanonn tell you her BIG news! We had a great weekend together. To think I never would have met her in life if not for these Boards. So bizarre! Can't wait to do it again.

ETA: Oh, I finished in 2:26:53. Before I got sick, I was secretly hoping for a 2:15 - but it's all good. I need to focus on the 18 miler I need to attempt to bang out on Saturday in preparation for MCM. To think that a 13 miler is now an "off week" for a training run?! UGH!

Hello Ducks! Sounds like everyone is having fun. You have to be careful working in the yard, Renee.... Laura, sounds like Philly was fun, great time despite not feeling well.

Almost into single digits. I think my 10K went well, nice day for it. I guess this is a pb for a 10K as I have never run one before. Lots of 5's and an 8 and a 13. My time was 47:30, which exceeded my hope of getting under 50.

Have a great week, everyone!

Happy Monday Ducks! Not quite so happy for me as I have a darn head cold. Hopefully since I'm sick now I won't be sick for my W&D trip. :wizard:

Yesterday I did my longest run before W&D, 11 miles, and it went well. Now it's taper time! A couple short runs this week, 8 miles this weekend, a couple short runs next week and I'm done training.

One little thing I've learned during my training this time is that I am so over any of the gel/gu type energy thingies. Just can't take them anymore, too hard to get down. I forced myself to take my last one before my 11 miles. During the run I used Clif Shot Bloks and they're great!

Augie~I noticed they moved the stage, too. Maybe it'll be a little quieter by the water table this year.
WTG on your 10K! 47:30, whew!!

Tanya~Way to go on your pace! That's fantastic!
I'm glad you want to meet up! Augie, Joe, Renee and I are all friends on facebook and we all have each others cell phone numbers. If you'd like to connect either one of those ways just send us a pm. We may need to call/text that night when we're trying to find each other. :)
Oh, I think you'll be just fine with Chef's 24+ hours before the race. I'm eating at Boma THE night of the race!

Carissa~Yippee (again) for our POP reservation! I hope you're feeling better this week!

Tim~Yes, the weather was nice and cool here in NC this weekend, too! LOVED it! It was great running weather. We spent a lot of time outside and had a fun firepit on Saturday. It was so fallish.
That's great your wife is improving and it sure sounds like she's been bitten! :)
Have you decided if you're doing the half or full in November yet?

Renee~WTG on your 10, and I hope your legs are feeling better!

Laura~Congrats again on your great half time, especially with being sick! That's pretty wild you and Karin finished within 11 seconds. Hope you feel better and can knock out your 18 with no trouble!

Hello Ducks!

I'm a brand new duckling and considering walking the half marathon in JAN 2012.

I've been walking and following the C2K suggested training. Training since August. I walked 3 miles in 38 mins this past wknd. Not bad. I'm doing a couple of 5K's in the Fall. Hoping to prepare for 13 miles!

Are there any ducks going to walk the half in January out there?

Thanks. :grouphug:
