Here is my 2011 running event wish list (if I write it down maybe I will be able to do them all:wizard:)
Champion 5K for ESPN the Weekend (registered) March 5th
Exhibition Everest Challenge (teamed up with Debbie) May 8th
Dexter / Ann Arbor Half Marathon (did the 10k last year) June 6th
Disneyland Half Marathon (I want that Coast to Coast medal)
The Wine and Dine Half Marathon (I'd like to do the relay with Debbie this time)
All the Disney ones might be tough, I just have to keep an eye out for cheap flights.

I got partway through adding your races to the list, then realized this is your WISH list! So I didn't add the Disneyland Half or Wine and Dine...let me know which ones I should take off or add ...whenever you know. :)

I would love to do Disneyland, but the cost is the biggest factor. I'm thinking I'll do Wine and Dine again though.

I will be doing the Dexter/Ann Arbor and I think we can swing the Everest Challenge. I can't miss a last chance to use the AP before it expires. The DL Half and W&D will be the tricky ones. If we are busy at work this year it will make it easier to do both. If the last 2 weeks are any indication of what the year will be like at the sign shop, I think I have a good chance of doing both:wizard:.

Liz: nice job on catching the SW droid reference:rotfl2:. Hopefully I will get the good ones right away, so I won't have to go through a case and don't get me started on the Animation ones:scared1:.
I didn't trade one pin during marathon weekend, so I plan on making up for lost chances on my next trip. I'm such a sucker for Disney collectibles, I even have the transportation trading cards.
I did 3 miles yesterday on the treadmill. I worked on my speed, I did it in 27:48, with a couple walking intervals included. I was pretty whipped afterwords.

Liz: way to go on the run yesterday, I'm glad the toe is working.
Augie: Bike riding in the snow "you are the man!"
Carissa: Congrats on getting the house, how exciting!!

Have a good week everyone. Hopefully the weekend won't be so cold, I would like to do a run outside.

Joe

I'm thinking I'll do Wine and Dine again though.

Yea!!! :cheer2: There might be another Duck waddling with me again this year!

Put me down for the W&D Half. My annual vacation has already been booked around it.

I'm also planning on doing the 5K that weekend with my BFF (a non-runner), who's going on my annual vacation with me this year. The 5K will be much more of a fun run, or walk, or character meet-n-greet session for the two of us. Kinda like how Joe and Deb did it last year. :dance3:

Hope you can make it again, Joe. You might just have to invest in another AP that weekend. :rolleyes1

Joe~ I hope your business continues to go well so you can do all the races you want!
I should always catch a SW reference...grew up with SW due to two older brothers and live with it now due to my boys. We love SW here!

Renee~ yeah, I didn't think I'd do W&D again. But after the Princess I'm going to need a Disney race to do. I wish the Princess was a couple months later so that it, the Jan. Half and W&D were more evenly spaced through the year. That would be great.
I would like to do the 5K that weekend, but getting up early that morning then staying up so late for the half...yikes! I don't know if I could nap in between with the adrenaline flowing?!?

So I have to tell everyone about a big step I took this week. I have began to push myself a lot more lately. I haven't ran a sub 10 min/mi run since I was in high school. Yesterday and today I logged 3.5 mi per day on the same route. Yesterday I came in at a 9'56" pace and today I clocked in at 9'34". I can not tell you all how EXCITED I am about not only breaking that barrier one time but twice on back to back days. I know it's not blazing fast but for a short chubby guy I'll take. Anyway I just had to tell people that would understand the excitment.

Way to go!! So maybe there's hope for a short chubby gal too! I can't seem break 10:30.

Tim: Nice job on the speed runs :thumbsup2. You will be ready to blaze through the Champions 5k in March.

Liz: I figured with 4 boys you would be a Jedi Master :yoda: on SW knowledge.

I better go now, I need to do some kind of workout.

I was going to start a new thread on this but thought I would check with you guys here first... what are the half marathons offered at Disney? I know of the one held during Marathon Weekend, the Princess and the Wine & Dine... are there more? What is the difference b/w them? Is one easier or more fun? I am asking from a beginner's perspective. Are they held at different times of the day? I thought I read somewhere that W&D is at night? Thanks again - you guys have been so welcoming and patient - I really appreciate it! :thumbsup2

Robyn: I have only done the W&D and the WDW half in January, so I am not an expert, but their is only 3 half marathons at WDW (January WDW Half, Princess in March and the Wine & Dine in October). Have you checked out the rundisney.com website? Like them also on Facebook, lot's of good information. As far as one being easier than the others, I think they are all about the same. Disney property is pretty much flat except the highway ramps and going under the waterway between Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. The Wine and Dine is at night (starting around 10), it is very different that way, because it's hard to figure out what to do during the day and eating at the right time. The race ends at Epcot and their is a Food and Wine Party until 3 am. I had a lot of fun in that race. The after party was too crowded though. I was pretty tired the next day. Debbie (DW) and I ran the Halloween 5K at 7 am through the Magic Kingdom, then hung out there until 12, went back to the room tried to sleep, then went to Epcot around 5 for dinner and head out to the race staging area around 7 and didn't get back to the room until after 3. The other 2 half's are early morning races. If you like the Food and Wine festival I highly recommend this race, we ran through HS and they had the Osborne lights on, that was worth the price of the event.
Check out the rundisney site, you will see all of the running events listed.

Tim, good job on getting the times down!

Liz, ever been to SWW? Sounds like you guys would havea blast!

Yes, going through MGM with the Osbourne lights on was very cool. I hope they get the party problems worked out this year.

More snow here again. Looks like another snow day tomorrow.

Hey Tim...Way to go! Man, I know that feeling of, "Hey, is my stop watch right?!? Is that accurate? Am I running that fast? I really AM running that fast! Woo hoo!". Good on you. Keep it up! :cheer2:

Robyn - I've only run the W&D Half at WDW. Last year (2010) was the inaugural race, so there were a few glitches, like the overcrowded after-party and some poor lighting in a few places on the course. I LOVED being able to run through both AK and DHS, then through the Boardwalk area on the way to EP. I really liked the course (okay, I guess we all agreed that the run through DHS was a bit long, with waaay too many corners). But the Osborne lights were amazing!

What I liked about runnng at night was I never seem to be able to fuel well for morning runs. Especially REALLY early morning runs. So being able to eat in the late afternoon, then snack a bit into the evening left me well fueled for the run. Personally? I liked the night run. I'm almost distracted by crowds, so the lack of cheering crowds through a lot of the course didn't bother me. In fact, I rather enjoyed it, because I never trained with cheering crowds anyway. :rotfl2:

I'm gonna do the 2011 W&D Half. Then I'm gonna consider either the 2012 January Half or the 2012 Princess Half.

TimAwesome job on your times. You're inspiring me to try a little speedwork.

No running today. Too much snow outside! I really don't want to do the treadmill this weekend, but it's looking like that is how it's gonna be.

Oh this snow is really thwarting my outdoor running! I don't mind the cold but the roads and sidewalks are flat out dangerous! Looks like another long run on the dreadity dreadmill this weekend. Rrrrrr.:headache:

Good evening Ducks! TGIF!

Hoping everyone is doing well.

Not much to report on the training side of the house. 6 miles last Saturday was the last run/walk event.

We moved into our new Emergency Operations Center this week. A lot of stress and not much sleep. But, my dispatchers are settled and everything seems to be working well. I think it will be a recliner weekend (while watching the Rolex 24 from Daytona), and a 7 miler on Sunday.

Y'all take care.

:)

Hey!
Checking in with all my Duck friends!!

I have been back and forth as to what race to do next. I wanted to get out to California this year but after buying the new house that just isn't going to happen. I do not have a treadmill so running outside is my only option and with all this ice I have not run in weeks!

I hope all this snow and ice will stop and I can get out there soon.
So, my final decision is to wait and do runs around here for the year and do the half marathon in January next year.

if I find myself needing a Disney fix, I may go by myself out to the wine and dine this year. we shall see.

Miss checking in with you all.. Hugs and happy running!!!

Good morning Ducks! I wanted to say thanks to everyone. I ran my 8k this morning in beautiful weather, 34 and sunny. I ran it in 48'35". The course was somewhat hilly (rolling) but nice. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Ducks! I ran outside today. Six miles. That's two outside runs in a row! Our sidewalks are awful. I ran mostly in the streets Thursday. So far this month the treadmill is winning... 47 miles vs 39 outside. My feet/ankles started to hurt after a 10 mile TM. Last weekend was 12 and they are worrying me. I think it's just the TM. Other factors are the same. I added some Superfeet green insoles. Don't know if they will hurt or help. I'm going to try running in the office parking garage next week.

I need the miles. I'm training for St Louis, April 10. Next weekend is 14 miles. Other than the treadmill, any innovative ideas for getting a long run in lousy conditions?

Ronda

Oh boy...just gotta get my mojo going for a loooonggg TM run tomorrow. Not feelin it today. I figure, if I can do 10 on the TM, why not go for broke & try 13?!:lmao:
