Happy Saturday everyone!

Liz: I think you might need these shoes to protect your toes.

The endomundo app is available for the iPhone and I will get it once I get the phone set up (supposed to get here on Monday! Woo:cool1:).
I will use my new Timex GPS watch for most of my runs, it has a interval setup in the program to notify me when to walk or run, but it is nice to have a backup if I only have my phone on me, like while I'm at Disney.
I am going to attempt to run outside again tomorrow, hopefully the weather will be nice.

Have a good weekend everyone.
Joe

Well we got another 6 inches of snow today, uhhggg, I've had enough.
I am going to attempt a run tomorrow outside, I'll let you know how it goes.
I just signed Debbie and I up for the Disneyland Half Marathon:cool1:. Now to look for a good price on plane tickets:wizard:.
I did the on line check in today for my trip on the 13th, so I can officially start packing:thumbsup2. I am looking forward to a week of warmer weather.
Happy training everyone!.
Joe

Happy Sunday all! It's about 40 degrees here and feels positively balmy -- got to run outside this morning and it felt so good....and i even avoided the icy patches this time (btw, thanks for the concern but in the interest of full disclosure, the only damage done was too my dignity. And perhaps my butt. I think the ice got the worst of it. :lmao:)

Liz, I hope your toe heals quickly. Those kids are more dangerous than anyone ever told us when we were expecting, huh? A few weeks ago, i was on the receiving end of that situation -- I was in the supermarket, my 12 year old was pushing the cart behind me, I stopped to take something off the shelf, and he kept going, scraping a nice chunk of skin off the back of my foot.

Joe, sorry about the snow (although it will give you a chance to run in it and post more deceptively enticing pix...). I am so ready for spring. Or at least a trip to somewhere warm. Enjoy your trip, and your new phone.

Augie, awesome numbers. I will be rooting for your numbers to hit, since i am sure not rooting for either of the teams this year. J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Yippee I got my Princess Bib number! #5267. No idea what corral that'll put me in. A little over 3 weeks to go!

SO excited! I'm 3324....so I think we will be in the same corral. I have to run today...I am not nearly as ready for this race as I should be but I know I will finish. Hope to meet up!

Happy super Bowl Sunday everyone!.
I did 7.5 miles on the treadmill this morning. I watched "Up" while running and that made the time go by.
This is the view of my front yard this morning

I decided to stay inside. We might get 1-2 more inches tonight.:scared1:
I'm rooting for the Super Bowl commercials!

I'll cheer you on from behind. I'm waaaay back -- 13,000s.:scared1: That's what i get for not having a devcent proof of time handy and registering at the last minute. I may look to see if i can find soemthing to bring to expo to move me up a corral or two...I think i might need that extra time cushion this time around.

Good afternoon Ducks! Go Packers!

Getting some mileage in. 3.25 on Thursday and 8 this morning. It's nice to get into the swing of things.

Erica - Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope everything is ok.

Liz - How's the foot?

Karen - WTG with the 2 miler!

Augie - Sorry about all of the snow. It will get better.

Joe - WTG with the 7.5 miler!

Everyone - Keep up the great work!

:)

I am so excited for you guys getting out there and getting ready for that Princess Half!! WOOT!!! :worship:

I wish it was me, hopefully next year I can make it out for the Princess.

Two weeks away! I am rooting for you guys!!
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Yes, great job to all of you training for the Princess! I hope everyone has a fabulous race! As for me I'm finally back into a running routine after the full. Recovery took a while. This year my goal for running is to up my speed a bit. I'm going to try for a PR in a 5K, a 10K and a half. So wish me luck. I think I'm going for a 5K in 8 weeks or so. I start the interval training tomorrow.

OK so being a new runner I have silly question... what exactly is "proof of time"? I am assuming it's some official piece of paper showing what your time was in another race, but what type of race does it have to be? How do you get this "proof"? How does it get submitted to Disney? I am asking b/c I am really hoping to do a Disney half next year. Thanks!

Oh and I finally got my garmin watch. I am so excited to use it this week (as long as it doesn't snow which it is supposed to)!

Hi,
Just popping in, I'm playing with my new iPhone! Pretty cool.
Joe

Hi Ducks! Hope you all had a good weekend. Yay Packers!

So today I had a 10 miler planned. Went out and was doing great for the first 5 miles. Then my left knee started to hurt. Slowed way down, stopped and stretched it a few times. Made it to 7.5 miles and then it had sharp pains and felt like it was going to buckle. So, called it quits then.

I took a cold bath and it was feeling better. Then I had to walk up to the bus stop (which is a decent little walk) to get my boys and I realized it was not well. I took an NSAID. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Oh, and my RIGHT knee was my "bad" knee...I counted on my left one to be good. Guess they are both bad afterall! BAD, BAD knees!

Joe~Yes, my dh says I need steel-toed shoes too. I agree!
That's great you and Debbie are doing the Disneyland Half!! I can't wait to hear all about it!
So which Super Bowl commercial was your favorite? I liked the Bridgestone (I think?) one where the guy sends an email and thinks it went to a bunch of other people... He runs all over to far off places to grab people's computers and phones.. LOL!!

Erica~OUCH about the shopping cart...and I know because I've had that happen too!! So now when one of mine is following me with a cart, and I stop, I reflexively put my foot up as a bumper. lol Sure enough, they almost always hit it!
I hope you can find a proof of time if you want to move up!

Laura~Yay! You know I might be in B, or I might be in C... Depends on the cuttoff. I wish they'd be more open about how many runners there are and how many per corral. I know we don't NEED to know, but it's NICE to know. I'd love to meet up with you if we can! It would be great to have someone to wait in the corral with.

Vic~WTG on 8! You're getting into some long runs!
My toe is doing ok, thanks. :) I've got my knee to take my mind off it now. lol

Karen~Thanks! I hope you can do the Princess next year!

Jenny~You mean you're actually going to RACE in races?!? ;) That's great, I know you'll do well! You underestimate your speed...I know from your training runs you are NOT slow.

Robyn~You've got the right idea on proof of time. Here is what it says for the Princess:

"PROOF OF TIME

Disney Princess Half Marathon
If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 2:45 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement.

Please provide proof of time at the point of registration.

Proof of time should include name of race, year, distance and time finished (i.e. 2009 Boston Marathon - 3:35 OR 2010 Disneyland® Half Marathon - 2:25). If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list N/A at the point of registration. Half Marathon proof of time must be from a race 10K or longer. All forms of proof of time must be from a race after July 1, 2008. If you do not provide proof of time you will be placed in the last start corral.

If you do not provide proof of time at the point of registration or acquire it after you have registered, then email this information to disneysports@trackshack.com before December 27, 2010. After December 27, 2010 you will need to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth at the Expo if you wish to have your start corral placement changed. If you listed a race result as proof of time when registering online, then you do not have to do anything further."

Night Ducks, time to go watch House!

It is pretty shocking isn't it?:lmao: However, I am still not going to RACE in Disney races. They are too much fun to spend my time racing;) Total bummer about your knee. If I were you I would just rest it before you head down to the Princess. You know you can finish it and you don't want that to happen during the race. I really hope it doesn't give you trouble on race day.

Hi Ducks. The weather just won't cut us a break. I did some big runs on the TM and looked hard for ways to avoid it this past weekend. I used the gym at work and split my time between the TM and the empty parking garage. 14 miles. Glad when that was over. During the last garage session my knees started to hurt. Not the joint, the muscles around it. I tried not running the ramps, but it was too late. I finished the last mile on the TM without pain. I need to pay attention because that's likely where I'll end up this weekend, too.

Joe - anxious to hear about your VZW iPhone. I'm itching for one, too.

Ronda

Hi Ducks - I have been away for awhile. My modem got burnt up due to a storm causing the electric line to burn out and sending surges of full electricity into my house on Jan 25. It was their fault due to the line being so old and fragile. Ugh frustrating as it burnt out about half of my electronics in my house - including 3 older style TV's that are basically as good as paperweights now. Not to mention I am tight on money right now so I really shouldn't have even spent the money on replacing the modem but I HAD to get back online as I couldn't handle it anymore and my phone although an Android there is only so much you can do on it and its not exactly like being on the computer.

Otherwise I am fine - haven't really been out for a run lately but have gotten some walks in - I walked to the grocery store on Saturday - its .6 miles from home so it got me moving as well as save some gas and limit what I could spend since I knew I had to carry it home.

My next race will most likely be a 10k in April if I can get my niece trained up since she wants to do the Disney Half next January. I am also looking forward to the Space Coast Marathon - not sure if I will do the full or the half - still debating on that one but it is on my birthday and I think that would be the coolest thing - to run a race on my birthday - its the 40th year of the race and I will be 39 (too bad next year its not on my bday and too bad the race isn't in its 39th year this year!! LOL - I still think its still cool)

You want to hear the strangest thing... on January 25 the same thing happened to me, except I live in New Jersey! Luckily we only had fried power strips but many neighbors lost kitchen appliances, gaming systems, furnaces, etc. It was a town-wide event. In fact we just had our electrician install a universal surge protector the day before yesterday. Isn't that weird that it happened on the same day, so many miles apart?!?! Sorry to hear about your modem. At first I was worried all our computer equipment was shot b/c everything just powered off. Turned out the GFCIs had tripped. I was home when it happened and it was the strangest noise!

Ronda Wow!! 14 miles in a parking garage/treamill combo:worship: That is dedication! I'm hoping the weather cooperates sooner rather than later for you!

Tricia That electrical surge sounds like a crazy thing! Can you get the electrical company to foot a portion of the bill for all the lost electronics?

As for me, I now have a reservation at Bay Lake Tower for Marathon Weekend 2012 so I guess I'm in! The half falls on my 40th birthday and I can't think of a better way to celebrate! Then I'll recover on the Disney Dream with a cruise that leaves Sunday. I'm taking the year off the full, but am considering going Goofy in 2013. In other plans to work on the PR thing this year I found some races I'll try. I'm going to do a local 5K the end of March. Then a 10K in early June. Then I found a race down a mountain canyon for my half in July. I figure a race that is almost all downhill is my best chance of ever getting close to 2.5 hours in the half. I'm telling all of you so you'll keep me on task and check to make sure I'm doing my interval training and tempo runs:goodvibes

That is REALLY strange!! Lucky for you that you just had a universal surge protector put in the same day. This surge only affected me - of course. I must say a surge protector saved my TM - it fried the surge protector but not the TM :worship: But coffee maker, microwave, and the list goes on. I am actually still finding things that no longer work. Its really a pain in the behind. I have a claim in with the electric company and it should be their responsiblity for reimbursing me. I have to bring the bigger items (over $100) in to an authorized repair person and then turn in the claim. Basically its a big hassle and comes at the absolute worst time financially for me.

Tricia oh I feel for you!! That would be a major PAIN!! Glad to see you back on line at least!

Great runs this week everyone!!

I am taking a look at Craigs List for a TM, I now have a house and room for it so I think it is the logical step for me after this difficult winter..

Remember everyone, Keep Moving Forward!!!

Liz - Sorry your knee is bothering you. :( Fingers crossed it takes care of itself before the half.

Tricia - What a pain in the rear end to have to deal with! :scared1:

I'm dealing with some difficult personal stuff right now and have had zero motivation to run or workout period. Don't have much motivation to do anything really. I did have a dream last night that I was running on my treadmill. Does that count? :rotfl: I think my subconscious was trying to tell me I would feel better if I could get back to it. Hopefully soon.
