We're thinking about trying Donald's for breakfast. But need just a little push to make a definate decision.

In Sept. 1998, we dined there and loved it. Everything was great and we looked forward to returning.

However, in Sept. 2000, it was just plain awful. Food was bad, service was terrible and even the characters were lacking. We said we'd never go back.

I read such great reviews here. We're tempted to try it again -- hoping that last time we just went on a really bad day. We'd probably do one of the first seatings. I remember walking through AK before it was open and it was truly breathtaking.

I'd love to hear the good and/or bad.

TIA!:D

Well, I've only been there once and I really enjoyed it! We were there in January 2002 and had an early PS (before the park opened). We were escorted through the park by a CM, which was special to see AK and the Tree of Life, in particular, with nobody else around. We loved the food and the character interaction was fun too. The best part was finishing breakfast as the park opened, so we were able to go straight to the rides w/o waiting! :)

I have never eaten there myself but I just read a review in Deb's newsletter and I believe it is posted on her site now. Look under Dining then reviews. I think they felt rushed with the characters.......

We ate here in 2001 and thought it was mediocre at best.

August 2002, very stressful meal, couldnt wait to leave. The food was good(disappointed in the breakfast pizza though), but we couldnt really enjoy it under all the pressure from our waiter.

We've ate here twice and absolutely loved it both times.

From all the reviews I've read, it seems that there is a very big difference between the experiences people have when they have an early PS versus a later PS. We've always had the earliest PS available (8:10 both times) and the CM's, characters and food were all great. Most of the negative posts I've read (rushed, not much interaction, etc) seemed to come from folks who had later PS's.

We were there Thanksgiving Week 2002. It was our first time. We had a 9:00 PS but arrived at 8:15. They went ahead and took us on in. I am glad they did. It was packed with people waiting in line about an hour later when we left. Had we had to wait till our PS time it would have been 10:00 or more before we were able to get out into the park. We loved walking through an empty park. The CM that took us through and waited on us was great. We didn't feel rushed.

We didn't care for the table we were given since it was next to the food and we had people either lined up or walking constantly beside us

The food was good. Character interaction could have been better but I feel that it was because my children aren't little anymore. Goofy came over to us twice because Donald was holding up the show farther on in. We had to wait a long time for Donald because he bypassed us on his way in and they have a strict route that they take. Mickey bypassed us also because not everyone was at the table when he came by. We requested that he stop back by before he got too far because we had already paid for our meal and was ready to leave. They did honor our request.

Would I do it again? Probably not. I have a hard time justifying $70 for breakfast even with character interaction. I can see all of the characters we saw anywhere else for free. I feel that they could use a couple more characters, maybe Daisy and Minnie or some other character that would easily fit into the theme.

On the flipside, if your children are little and you are not having to pay for adult meals all around, then go for it. The look on a small child's face is priceless.

We have been 4 different times. The service has always been positive. one time the food was just average, without a huge selection, but the other three, including last July were very good. I've also read Deb's review and I'm afriad I disagree. Of the negatoves there, one has never been being rushed. I think like some things at WDW, there is going to be variation based upon crowds, CMs, time of day and just life in general.

Hi! We have gone three years in a row--always with an 8:10 PS. We feel, every year, it just gets better and better. Last month, we all enjoyed it the best. The food, character interaction, waiters were absolutely wonderful. We were also told that they just changed chefs (they now have crispy creme donuts!!!)

Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale were all there. We will most certainly go again next year!!!

Ok, after reading here I just went and made a PS for the character breakfast for the morning we plan on being at AK. Made 8:10 PS. I said I was NOT going to make all of our breakfasts buffet character breakfasts but it is turning out that way. Krispie Kreme donuts! YUM

Ditto swankybeth's comments...

Good to get there early.

This was the best breakfast buffet we've been to. Plus I LOVE animal kingdom...it's my favorite park.

I've eaten there more than a dozen times, and have never had bad food or service, and have always found teh character interaction to be wonderful.
