Don' forget about COVID

I consider Covid closer to the flu than a cold. The 1918 flu pandemic was a flu A subtype and does continue to circulate in flu season, since over time it’s become endemic. No it’s not as deadly as in 1918-20, but it can still cause a week or more of misery.

Flu A circulated in my daughter’s school January of this year. We’d gotten her her flu shot, and while she caught it her symptoms were more in line with a bad cold. She had a runny nose and low grade fever for a few days. Other kids had high fever and were out for two weeks. My husband and I had gotten our flu shots and thankfully had no worse than a runny nose.

We treat Covid the same way. Just like the flu, everyone’s immune system is different and some people have a worse time with it than others. Hopefully the shots will help keep any symptoms to the level of a minor cold, if we still catch it, and we’ll be back on our feet much sooner.

Yes. Because without them she may have been worse off or may not have made it.

Or did you make that comment because you are one of those people that think the Health Department said "vaccines make you immune"?

You can literally find hundreds of videos of health officials like Dr. Fauci, and Dr. Walensky, and Dr. Perkins saying that if you get vaccinated you won’t get sick, or you won’t get very sick, or you can’t transfer the virus if your vaxxed.

All things that we now know are totally untrue. And there seems to be ample evidence they knew at the time they said it- it was untrue. But they went on TV and said it anyway.

The lies these health officials told during the pandemic have done massive harm to the public’s confidence in public health organizations and officials.

They never said that you will not get sick but yeah, okay. 👍 I'm not going to get into a back and forth on politics with anyone. Especially someone quotes things that never happened. You have yourself a good day.

Since so many people feel like getting Covid is just like getting the flu, it would be interesting to see what "long flu" looks like. It is not a myth that a good many people have had severe issues after contracting Covid. That seems quite different from long flu sequelae which should be a thing if both diseases are just like each other.

I'm not sure if this was in response to me, but I don't consider Covid "just like" getting the flu; I said I feel Covid is closer to the flu than a cold. So the preventive measures I take are similar (which I know I did not explicitly state, but that was my intent; my apologies for being unclear).

I agree long Covid is awful. I know people who are dealing with it and still have severe symptoms even three years later. I also know people who are dealing with ME/CFS caused by other viral infections who are also having a tough time. The unfortunate truth is that many viral infections can cause long term harm. I strongly prefer not to get covid or the flu, so I take what preventive measures I can for both, including the vaccines, but I'm aware that they are not bulletproof vests against either. That's my personal view for myself and my family.

Unfalsifiable statement common to the Covid nuts out there. Bet you still strap a napkin to your face in the supermarket.
Nope. No mask here but thanks for letting everyone know you allow yourself to be fooled into not getting vaccinated by a group of people that got vaccinated themselves. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You can have a one-sided conversation all you want going forward. Have the day you voted for.

Back in November 2022 my wife and I were on the Fantasy. One day as we were walking down a hall way, passing a bunch of people who were waiting to get into a club for an event, someone sneezed with out covering their mouth and nose. You know how I know, because they sneezed on the back of my arm, discus ting.
My wife and I walked out of the area and I started wiping down the back of my arm with hand sanitizer.
I did not get sick however on the morning we got off the ship(Saturday) my wife started to feel sick.
She never tested for covid but spent the rest of Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the couch resting. By Tuesday she was fine.

We spent all day with a lady who tested + the next day, we never got it, but we get jabbed every 6 months. I have gotten it once ever and it was a two day thing, and we are not homebodies, Disneyland, Football games, Vegas, Hawaii, Cruises, we get around.

🤦‍♂️

but when we just take one reminder that we need to keep healthy hand hygiene and cruise ships are easy places to spread "new" germs (cuz I am including my comments) and that we are heading into flu season and we end up arguing and posting youtube videos (unless it's a video of people washing their hands hahaha) it just gets unnecessary......

It's not a vaccine if you have to keep getting it over and over again. I stopped getting the shot when I missed my appointment for the shot, but my entire family did not, then my entire family got COVID and I did not. That tells me it's not very effective at best, and with the latest info coming out about Myocarditis and other ill efffects...I'd be careful and a bit more sceptical if I were you. It doesn't hurt to be better informed is all I'm saying, and you should definitely not let your political views guide your medical opinions. Maybe consulting with a doctor is not the worst idea?

Unfortunately, when someone's decision not to get ANY type of vaccine is not political, it is putting other people at risk. That is morally wrong.
Well all I can say is the state I live in (Florida ) just passed legislation not to require vaccinations for children before they enter school. For those of us that do believe in vaccines and how it benefits the public in general —- we are screwed
