Don' forget about COVID

We head out for our Alaska cruise in a few days. Last week I got my flu and COVID vaccine for the year. I just thought between the airports, flights and ships best to be safe. Well, safe for at least those 2 things. :joker:
Assuming you will be on the September 15th sailing? We will see you there! Cheers to a wonderful cruise!

My husband swears he is done vacationing. Last summer the two of us came home from a cruise with COVID. (Princess, not Disney, not that it matters). Broken bones skiing in Utah this winter. Land based vacation and our kid came home with COVID.

My wife picked it up from who-knows-where recently and it knocked her out for a good 2 weeks; she still has issues with fatigue, and this is after the vaccine and boosters. It's no joke.

Oddly, nobody else un the family had anything more than sniffles.

It hits me hard like that too. I've had it twice, the most recent was after summer travel in 2024. The worst of it was about 5 days long, but it was a good 6+ weeks before my energy levels returned. The rest of my immediate family also seems to bounce back a lot more quickly.

We timed our last booster so we'd have maximum immunity for our recent spring Treasure cruise, and we all stayed healthy. Though I don't think I heard about it circulating much back then anyway.

This is just a quick FYI for anyone who wants a COVID booster vaccine. (if you aren't interested, that's totally fine, click away or scroll down. I understand this is absolutely a personal choice and adults get to decide whether or not they want one for a wide variety of reasons). If you can't get a COVID vaccine at a retail type pharmacy ( like CVS or Walgreens) and you have a doctor that you see on a yearly/regular basis, call your doctor. They might be able to arrange for you to get the most recent vaccine.

I sailed on the Magic last month. Overnight the last night I had a sore throat (lasted a few days) then woke up the last day with a runny nose (lasted about a week). Turns out it was Covid.

Not a cruise Covid story but a concert
A few years vagi we went to see a performer at a threatre about 2 hrs from where we live. A few days I came down with Covid

A few days later he was our state fair a couple DH knows from his church came down with it.
Strange how you can see how it spreads

Also please don't get mad at pharmacies/doctors offices if they can't give you the vaccine either. They are going off of protocols from the state, and if the representatives from the state haven't met then it will get delayed.
