DiD is quite different in that it is designed to be more educational. You spend a lot of time with a CM learning about dolphins and their behavior in the wild. The time spent with the dolphins ("hands-on") is less than 30 mins. That's toward the end of the "tour." The dolphins can choose to participate, so it's not guaranteed that they will come over. This is done at the top of Living Seas on a platform. You are in a wetsuit, but you remain standing on the platform, in the water, the whole time.

My experience has been it's best to schedule this on a Monday. The dolphins have had no other human interaction other than CMs for the weekend, so they are more likely to be eager to come over and meet the participants. I try to book this for as early in the week as I can.

Haven't done aqua seas (but we want to). We did do Dolphins in Depth a few years ago and loved it. You are in the water and interact with the Dolphins, but you don't swim with them.

We loved seeing all the backstage areas and learning about the Dolphins.

It is a very education program. I think you son would enjoy it.

If you want guranteed interaction I suggest going over to Discovery Cove (Sea World). Its one of the best dolphin swims Ive done. You do need rsvps as they only allow 1000 people in a day. You can stay there all day, but you will be given a time slot to swim with the dolphins. First you will learn about them (video and lecture if I remember-all facilities must do this). Then you and I believe 5 others get in the water (a bit chlly but you get shorties). There are several other groups doing the same thing. Each group gets their own dolphin. The trainer will talk about the dolphin and have it do some tricks and natural acts. I believe you get 2 chances to interact with the dolphin-1. you ask it to perform, and 2. a ride on back to the shore. There is plenty to do at the facility-shops, places to eat, other areas to snorkel with fish, stingrays, pool, etc. So instead of just doing one thing, you have options which you wont have at Epcot. I did their Dive Quest several years ago and loved it, but go to Discovery Cove for the dolphins.
