If there are any Dolphin and Swan pros out there could you tell me if it is worth an extra $100.00 to upgrade to a lake view for the Dolphin? Are the standard room views terrible? Also, Disney's site says that the Swan holds five people as well. Has anyone stayed at the Swan with Five people?

Also, we know there is some kind of convention going on at the Dolphin during our stay Feb10 to Feb 15th. Should we be worried about that? I'm not exactly sure which convention. In fact when we called the Dolphin they would not honor our Entertainment card because they had the convention. Luckily the Dreamsunlimited site could still get the reservation at the discounted rate. We are paying $905 for five nights. Does this sound good? We could get the POR for $825 so I figured for the extra $80 I should go for the Dolphin. Right???

I wouldn't worry about the convention people. Every time I have been at the S or D there was a convention. They were quite unobtrusive. During the day, they are at the convention hall. Even in the evenings, we rarely saw them.

Lake v. standard room. Hmmm... I guess it depends on what you want and if you feel the extra $ is worth it. Our last stay at the Dolphin we had view of the convention hall roof and the bus stop - not the greatest. It didn't bother us since we were rarely in our room - but we were on Club Level. This summer at the Swan we wanted a balcony room b/c it was just DH and me. We booked a standard room and were hoping for a comp upgrade to a balcony. However, we would have been happy with a standard room if we didn't get the upgrade. We did get the comp upgrade to a Jr. Suite.
I am happy with any room at such a great teacher rate at the most wonderful resorts - S/D! JMHO
:)

I just booked the dolphin, they told me that the swan doesn't allow 5 people, but the dolphin does.
I was also told that the dolphin room was bigger. I would definately stay at the swan over POR - pool area and rooms much nice at dolphin. Also, you can't beat the access to the boardwalk area.

I agree with you, Dolphin over POR. We like the boat rides to MGM and Epcot.

The piano music in the lobby is an extra nice touch.

We've always gotten the Teachers Break, what a great deal.

It has never been warm enough for us to use the pool, but when we go in October, I'm determined to go in. :)

Well I can say that we just got back from the Swan in August and the answer to your question is YES, YES the Swan will fit 5, but y ou will be charged for a rollaway $25 per night. Maybe they would let you bring an air mattress, I dont know. We got the govt. rate. Our view was into the courtyard looking across at the dolphin. One night we could see fireworks but it was not a good view of them. We got the standard room. I was not really caring about the view. We could see the back of one of the big giant shells too and saw that is where the a.c units or something like that are too. We were on the 10th floor, west wing. Close to the elevators and ice machine.

We booked a standard room at the Dolphin and were able to upgrade to a resort view because we joined the Starwood Preferred Guest program, even though we hadn't earned any points yet. We would have paid more to get a balcony room. I wouldn't pay $100 extra for just a view, but I'm wondering if the "lake view" room is a view of the fireworks at Epcot. That may be worth it if you will be in your room at that time. I think the majority of views at the Dolphin are pretty good.

My inlaws stayed in the Swan at the same time we were at the Dolphin. They had 5 people in the room with a layaway. I do think the Swan/Dolphin is worth a little more money than POR just for the location--it's awesome.
