We are venturing away from the value resorts this trip, and will be staying at Dolphin for 7 nights over Thanksgiving. Our rate was for a 'standard' view, but since we have never been there before, we dont know what that is. Can anyone describe to me what will be out our window with a standard view from Dolphin? Whats the BEST standard view you can get? Also, what are the porthole windows like? Thanks in advance

Standard Views at the Dolphin will be obstructed and semi obstructed views (obstructed by other parts of the hotel and architecture such as columns and walls). You could be down on one of the lower floors and have a view across the roof of the convention center or you could be down low looking at the entrance drive and parking lot or behind trees and bushes. This is what I was told when I booked my standard view room. I joined Starwood and presented my card at check in and didn't say anything to the lady at the desk. She didn't say anything back and gave us our keys. I was assigned a spectacular room with two windows, a large balconey and view of Epcot, Boarwalk and Swan hotel, though there were palm trees outside one window.

Hmm... was that considered standard as well? I dont know what to do. We thought that it would be more convenient to stay at Dolphin with the market and buffeteria there. I heard the standard view is better at Swan. So do you think joining starwood made the difference in your room? thanks

Go to the Starwood Website (spg.com) and join. It costs Nothing! We have stayed at the Dolphin 4 times booking a standard room with the Teacher Discount and have had a wonderful room with great views every time. We have the Starwood Gold Card and the AMEX Starwood.

If your not happy with your room at check-in go back to the Front Desk and ask to be reassigned. I'm Sure they will give you another room if they have one available.

Don't worry, you'll love the Swan/Dolphin!;)

Yes. Mine was definately and upgrade. The room is usually expensive according to the Walt Disney World for Couples guide and is called a Kind View Premier room. I know not everyone gets an upgrade with their card. It depends on how full the hotel is.
It is definatly more convenient to Tubbi's.
