If you had a King Balcony Room with Resort View booked at Dolphin for a non-theme park 2-night stay for a romantic get away, would you keep that or book Boardwalk Standard View room?

I'd say go with the Dolphin. I've found the views nice and the hotel top notch for the price. It's not very Disney themed but you're close to the other hotels near the Boardwalk for the nightlife.

If there is a price difference, I would go with the less expensive one. But either one would be perfectly acceptable in my book.

I'd go with BWI. My experience at the dolphin was so horrible. The valet manager was incredibly disrespectful, along with the front desk manager. Plus the rooms were worn and our hallways smelled atrocious. I'd rather stay at a value resort than return there. The boardwalk area is so fun and the Inn looks beautiful. I'd also consider YC since its refurb was great and its one of our favorites on property. If the price difference is too high, id look into the Swan.

At the BWI there is not a guarantee of a King like you have at the Dolphin. At the BWI a King room is only a request.

I would choose whichever is cheapest. We like both resorts and their pool complexes. With the Dolphin resort fee you will also get bottled water refreshed daily plus a Swan boat ride and a s'mores package each evening which is kind of fun. Either way, you have easy access to everything on the Boardwalk.

How long ago did you stay there? We stayed there last year and the rooms have all been redone in the last few years and our room seemed very fresh and updated.

To me it’s all about price and conviene. If Dolphin has the better price than stay with that.

Our total cost for a 2-night stay at Dolphin would be around $100 less than BWI (and that is including the cost of Mears shuttle). This is true about access to BWI. I love going over to BW and going into the shops and ESPN, but I'm worried about the view of a Standard view room at BWI

DH says he wants to stick with Dolphin. Thank you all for your input! I hate second-guessing plans. I know I can always count on this board to give me quick advice! :earsboy:

Your husband is a smart man. For a romantic getaway the Dolphins has a better pool, pool bar, restaurants and a great new lobby bar. Plus all the rooms have been newly refurbished. Enjoy!!!

Our stay was this past February. It takes a lot for me to complain about a resort since I try to stay as optimistic as possible about all situations, but when multiple managers were incredibly disrespectful it crossed a line for me. After a trip advisor review, they did reach out to handle the situation and we are staying at the swan for a night before our YC stay next month as a "second chance." The room itself was fine, but the hallways on the floor we stayed on were not well kept at all. After a comment to the front desk they did address it by spraying the carpets, but it didn't make that much of a difference. This was also just our experience, and yours could (and hopefully will be) much better! Being in Disney is better than not, so enjoy your stay there!

I've stayed at the Swan twice in recent history and haven't had any problems...once in January of 2017 and again in August of 2018. I found it to be well kept and refurbished. The january stay was added on to a multi split stay, the August stay was bc I was out of DVC points
