Dolphin Bad Reviews

Hi DisLifer

I agree with the other posters on this thread. We love the Swan and Dolphin resorts. We stayed at the Swan in 2003 and the Dolphin in 2005. Both times we had a wonderful time. I would not worry too much about the reviews that you read. I also tend to take those with a grain of salt as you really don't know the circumstances that they were written.

The Dolphin is an awesome resort with a lot of benefits. Don't worry, you'll have a great time there.

Thanks everyone! I feel a little better now!!! Things can happen no matter where you stay. I'm sure we'll enjoy but one thing that I definitely would not enjoy is an awful view as TaraPA posted. I think I will call in advance and make a special request not to have such a view! Does anyone have any suggestions of where I should request my room location???

Thanks all!

HEY Andy!!! You DID use your Aeroplan card at the Dolphin, right? Please say yes..... :)

Love the information since I'm looking into staying at the Dolphin or Swan this summer. Can you guys tell me about the aerospan card? Where do I sign up for one? Also, to the original poster --- how was the teacher discount? I knew being an educator would help me but I wasn't sure how much I'd save. Thanks for any information:)

re Aeroplan - that was a personal comment to my friend Andy who is having some difficulty finding ways to collect points.

You may want to look at Starwood Preferred Guest - the Starwood freuqent stay program. You may find that hotel points work better for you, or airline miles. The program information is at www.spg.com - no cost to join, so no harm done! :)

We stayed at the Dolphin over Thanksgiving weekend, although I usually stay at the Swan. Both are beautiful hotels, and I've never had problems with housekeeping or mold. Rooms are being renovated at the Swan now, and the outside entrances of both hotels are boarded up while they put in the new revolving doors. The Dolphin's rooms are supposed to be finished some time in 2008.

I love the hotels, but I don't particularly care for Picabu. I think their breakfast prices are as high or higher than the same thing ordered at a sit-down restaurant like Spoodles, and the food isn't as good. On the other hand, I had the buffet breakfast at Fresh in April, and that was excellent. I gave the server my AAA card and received a 10% discount. I don't know if that was the incorrect discount or if it's lower at Fresh - but I didn't argue.

Hi baveria

I was wondering if I'd sneak my post in without an Aeroplan comment. :rotfl2: He, he, he..... I'm going to disappoint you and say no I didn't use my Aeroplan card and the Dolphin! I used my SPG MasterCard to get SPG points. Now we've got enough points (with other accumulated points) for 6 free nights at the Swan or Dolphin. I didn't even think to use my Aeroplan card. Totally my fault! ;)

Can anyone give more info. on the construction? I hate hotels under construction. We are looking at April or June 2008.

We have stayed several times at the Swan, but each time, the moldy damp smell got worse and worse. The last time, we switched rooms three times even into a "renovated " room and the smell and damp feeling was unbearable to us. We wound up switching to the Yacht Club.:confused3

We didn't smell anything moldy in our room at the Swan. I don't know if the moldy rooms are random or if some people are much more sensitive to the smell, but the reports of moldy smelling rooms are kind of hit and miss.

We've stayed at the Dolphin the past two Junes, and are planning on returning for a 3-peat this June. We LOVE it. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. I wouldn't stay anywhere else! :thumbsup2

DH and I have stayed at the Dolphin several times and have had no complaints whatsoever. We absolutely love the Dolphin! The decor is colorful and fun, the beds are indeed heavenly, the pool is gorgeous, and it's the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. I love having the onsite restaurants. Best of all, the location/price are unbeatable if you love Epcot as much as DH and I do! :cloud9:

Whew!!! I'm certainly feeling better by reading all of these positive reviews! Thanks!

Ditto on LOCATION, LOCATION,LOCATION!!

I stayed at the Swan once and it's where we ALWAYS go back. Everything is there to enjoy with all the Epcot resorts there and there is nothing like being able to just walk to Epcot which is my favorite park. DH and I would be there every single night!

We just love it there and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.
