We have decided to go down to Tennessee this weekend for some family time. It will be me(20), mom and dad, and my 2 brothers(4 and 17). We can't decide whether to go to Dollywood for a day or go see Finding Nemo on ice in Nashville. We've never been to Dollywood as a family and we've never been to a Disney on Ice show. We really only have the money to do one of these things right now. Which would you choose?

I voted for Finding Nemo, but I have no clue what Dollywood is like! We may be taking our boys to Finding Nemo. :)

I voted Nemo. Because it is a really cute movie and the Disney on Ice productions are always really well done. But Dollywood is a really nice amusement park, lots of rides and good shows. SInce you can only do one, I would still vote for Nemo, because Dollywood will be there next year, and Nemo probably won't make it around to the same places 2 years in a row.

Seeing Nemo would be great, but my vote goes to Dollywood. You can spend all day there (as opposed to a couple of hours at Nemo) and there is plenty to do for the whole family. There are roller coasters, water rides, etc... for the older kids and smaller rides for the 4 yr old. Plus rides the whole family can go on and shows. There is a neat interactive waterplay area that "kids" of all ages can enjoy too.

Oh..if you do come to Dollywood, check the weather. If you are coming this weekend (9/18), we are supposed to be experiencing the remnants of Ivan then.

Yikes! Say hi to the Smokey Mountains for me:wave2: (I grew up near Knoxviller)

Dollywood is a hoot! It's soooooooooooooooooo not Disney (even on it's best day), but it is...a hoot. Lot's of good old Appalachian fun. My mom and I went almost 10 years ago and had a blast. I'd say it's certainly a step above Six Flags.

It would be a hard choice for me...but I might go with the all day event over a 2 hour performance.

There's also a lot to do in Pigeon Forge, even if you don't do Dollywood. Lots of outlet shopping, restaurants with "down home" cooking (My fav. is a place called the Apple Barn, I think- great apple fritters. and fried chicken)

Thanks for the responses everyone! It really is a hard decision for us. Nashville and Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg are my favorite places. We usually visit Pigeon Forge a couple of times during the Fall and Winter seasons, so there will probably be other times we could go to Dollywood. I think we are leaning toward Finding Nemo since this is the only time we could see it. Plus my mom is worried that if the weather doesn't cooperate, we might not enjoy Dollywood as much as we would another time. I'm just torn because I personally love the shopping opportunities Pigeon Forge has to offer. :teeth: But more opinions would be welcomed. The votes seem to be split evenly right now.

Disney on Ice is coming to Knoxville in October. Our show is Beauty and the Beast. I want Nemo!!!!!!!!! I love Beauty and the Beast, but fish on ice..........this I want to see!!! :fish: :fish:

Up until last year, we had Dollywood season passes. I love Dollywood this time of year. However, this is the weekend of the Tennessee vs Florida football game. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and Sevierville hotels will be packed.

Nemo, Nemo, NEMO!!!!

:sunny:

I'd go to Dollywood. I haven't been there, but I know Disney on Ice tours around to different cities so maybe you could catch it somewhere else. :)

I just asked DD (12) which one she'd do as she's been to both Dollywood (several times actually) and Disney on Ice (though it was the Princess one). She stated that if she just had the choice to go to one she would go for Dollywood. Good luck with the decision... it would be hard one for me.. we really enjoyed the Disney on Ice production that we went to.
