We are using Dollar at the Orlando International Airport. It worked out to be a ton cheaper than Alamo and several of the other car rental companies at MCO. I was just wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with them recently at this location? :confused3
The fact that our rental is going to be about $100 cheaper through them compared to the other companies makes me wonder if I should be worried

TIA:hippie:

Dollars OK, never had a problem with them. They do not have kiosks so you may have to wait in line. And I don't believe they allow you to select your own car in your size category.
They seldom seem to be cheaper than Alamo, but that's just from my experiences, and I'm checking the rates pretty regularly.

I'm glad you were able to get such a good deal.

Thanks for the quick reply.
For our dates Oct. 10-18th Dollar is charging $270 estimated vs. Alamo $590 estimated.
That's actually $300 cheaper! Wowza! I didn't realize that until I actually wrote down the numbers. LOL

We LOVE Dollar! Rent from them every trip. Never an issue. We did get our pick of Full Sizes in February. Got a brand new Edge Crossover. Very nice. Completely Satisfied. We booked for Oct 15-23 for $243 total. I've also had really good luck with the rate going DOWN several days to a couple weeks out.

so do you get to pick your car or not? I would really like to get a grand caravan as opposed to a regular caravan. Or do I just ask at the counter?

We just rented from them a week ago & we were sent to the garage to pick our own car. If there was a Grand Caravan available on the mini van aisle it could be yours for the taking, but no guarantee what will be there. I doubt it would do any good to request it at the counter. They have no control over the inventory in the garage.

Thanks! I would rather pick my own car. The reason I asked if I had to ask at the counter is because the pp said they were assigned their car. Asking at the counter if they would give me a grand caravan would be silly then if they don't assign cars.

We used Dollar in August when taking our DS for the College Program. We were able to pick our car and it was in very nice condition! Beware of all the "upsales" and "extras" at the counter--they wanted us to upgrade(additional cost per day, of course) to a bigger car; they wanted us to add insurance(we were already covered); they wanted us to prepay for gas and a toll pass. While the person was very nice we felt exhausted after the counter check-in;) but as long as you are prepared it was a great deal!

We almost always use dollar (two - three times/year) and have never had a problem. Sometimes we get to select the car, sometimes they already have one selected. Last time we paid for a mid-size, and whatever they were going to give us, my husband thought was too small for the 3 carseats and they had no problem giving us another.

We always use Dollar and never had a problem. We also signed up for Dollar Express (it's free) and you get your own separate line to check in at the main counter (in the terminal) which is serviced before the regular line.

Although never a problem for us, always check the condition of the vehicle before your go. They give you a paper with the outline of the car where you can note any dents/scratches etc. If there are any you take it back to the key pickup counter (in the garage) and have them initial or sign it and you should note their name. We also take photos of the car. That way if there is ever a problem of them (or any car rental company) saying you damaged the car you have something on your side.
