It seems to have gone up today to 1.70ish. We leave in 20 days, could someone with more global economy insight than me (ie. more than none!) hazard a guess at what it's going to do over the next few days?
I have been sitting , watching rate change day to day for about a month or so.
£1.70 is quite good compared to recent weeks, I had been waiting for it to go up and up, but it seems to be up one day and back down the next. Best in your own mind to decide what you would be happy with and grab it. The odd rise by 1 cent or two won't make a holiday changing difference to your spending. I keep telling myself this even though I bought at 1.69 just over a week ago, I did predict then that it would now go up, and guess what??
approximately 5/6 years ago you would have been lucky to get 1.40, 18 months ago you could get 1.90. In the scheme of things unless you have got time on your side I wopuld probably go for it, I was originally hoping to get 1.70.
I've bought mine today at $1:70 from Travelex. The bank rate has already dropped today so I'm expecting the tourist rate to drop again tomorrow - that's as far as my crystal ball sees
I set myself a target of getting $1:70 and bought when the rate hit that. I've had as low as $1:40 in the past so that'll do nicely
Thanks for all your responses. I'm going to plump for 1.70 from Travelex, in the absense of Dicky Knee's 2.27.... Now I need to find out what terminal I'm going from in Manchester (- anyone know which one Virgin flies from? )

Where are you from? I can see you are from South Wales? we are off in 20 days
And all these Welsh people too! I'm from near Llanelli - just down the road from you! Amazing how many locals will be in Florida the same time as us. It will be like a convention!!
we aren't going until July but think we will go this week as $1.70 is good and sometimes I think it drops in the summer so don't want to chance waiting
the rate rose the outher day on reports that us intrest rates wont go up think it was to do with the jobles total.Have a look at www.foremostcurrencygroup.co.uk they do the forex report and provide info for teletex (channel 4 page 529).They offer bank rate on money but with a £10.00 fee if you are gettin £1,000 plus better than tourist rat dont know if they do TC or just cash.We just use our nationwide CC and fex acount as we get the bank rate with them with no charge
