Hi all! I just posted in another thread about the ridiculous quote that Hertz gave me for a 9-day compact car rental -- $370 WITH the 10% AAA discount! Yikes! So I started making the rounds using codes on the various rental company sites, and I got lucky with Dollar when I put in codes that were supposed to only be good for rentals through 8/27/03 (my dates are 9/28/03 - 10/6/03).
Just to be sure, I used the chat feature to ask an online agent about the discrepancy before I made my reservation. They told me that Dollar will honor ANY rate that you are able to get through online booking -- regardless if you use a rate code that was supposed to expire or is supposed to only be good for a certain car class, period of rental dates, etc. I guess sometimes promo codes are extended in the computer before they announce the extention in publications or on their website. They said that as long as I was able to use the promo code, to book the reservation and Dollar would accept the rate that was quoted. I ended up getting the same compact size car that Hertz wanted $370 for at a rate of $225 through Dollar! We also have a "Fastlane" membership and a coupon for a free upgrade to the next car class -- can't beat that!
