Dollar at 12 month high

It is still a cc though correct? Which alot people can't even get these days,
Which is why I think alot of people still take cash,
We have never even used our card, even.if I was to pay it off in full by direct debit it's still a.cc!
I understand it works for some, and works well.

All of my day to day spending is on a credit card. I earn cash back or tesco points when at home and use a fee free card in the US. We get a could lump of cash back each year plus 2 or 3 stays at the LGW Hilton and some other days out too.

I then only have one payment each month out of my bank account - we don't spend on the card unless we can afford it and would buy it anyway. I make the system work for me.

Also I don't anybody that carries large amounts of cash anywhere these days - it's so unnecessary. I can understand travellers checks and pre-paid cards but not cash. What happens if someone snatches your bag or breaks into your hotel room? Insurance wouldn't cover large amounts. Orlando isn't a crime free city even the tourist areas - why put yourself at risk?

In 2011 my purse came away from the shoulder strap and I lost it during or after a parade in MK. I did get it back but would at least have been able to cancel my cards and make emergency arrangements while there. I shudder at the thought of losing all my cash. It was our first week too!

I actually use my cc to buy my foreign currency as Marks gives a slightly better rate and doesn't treat the debit as cash plus I get points for using it.

Due to MB this year I anticipate carrying only a few dollars per day for tips or an ice cream and will charge most things to my room and pay with my PO credit card which I only really use in USA because of the good rate of exchange.

Im another who barely takes any cash. A few hundred for tips/tolls etc but thats it.

I like to keep an eye on how much im spending too, but with in room wifi i just use my phone or ipad to log on to my CC account if needed.

When i disney i prefer to charge everything to my room. I'll then pick up a room bill every now and then or when ever we pass the main lobby and keep an eye on things that way.

We don't take much cash now. We only spent $500 on our last trip any way ;)

£100 max in cash for us (mainly singles for tips) - everything else on a credit card for a much better rate and much greater convenience. We will also take any quarters that friends and family want to sell us for vending machines etc.

We use our credit card for everything back home so nothing different for us when in Orlando. We do nothing in cash - usually I'm lucky if I have £5 in my purse :rotfl:

Kathleen, you sound like me. I rarely have £1 on me. I even put a stick of chewing him on a card although I'm very aware of what I've didn't and stick to a strict budget and pay in full month end.

I think you're agreeing really. One person doesn't like credit so does cash, some others don't like credit but like the cards convenience and pay it off in full every month. Same potatoes different gravy :)

I do a mixture of both. I buy all our expensive things on a CC because the insurance if something goes wrong with the supplier is far superior to a debit card. You can also make money on a credit card with points if you spend a fair bit on it.

I like some cash on holiday. It makes me feel like I am on holiday!!. This time I have some cash in $ and a pre paid card as well. Same rate for both when I exchanged.

I always make the kids have their spends in cash or it doesn't seem real to them when they're spending it and it's not worth changing less than £500 or the rate and charges get in the way of a decent deal.

I also think it depends where you're staying. No where is utterly safe but WDW property is much safer (statistically) than somewhere like I Drive and if I were staying on some of the really value properties I'd be sure to have nearly zero cash on me.

This has been a very helpful thread for me, I have just exchanged £750 worth of dollars as the rate was too good to turn down. I wasn't sure what method to use for the rest of our spending money as I don't have a credit card, I don't spend what I don't have but I know if used correctly they can have many advantages, might be time to bite the bullet! I always spilt our cash between the both of us just in case and keep it in the hotel safe x
