where can we find dole whips at DL? Probably a silly question, but we will be first timers to DL in June.

Yep there is a stand at the entrance to the Tiki Room in Adventureland...I love Dole Whips but we tried the dole whip "floats" last trip...not my thing for sure but I love the traditional Dole Whip...Also a must at thei stand are the pineapple spears they are huge and we like to share one among the 3 of us while sitting by the Rivers of America watching the ships go by. Have FUN!

oh wait there are two threads on this...I was wondering where my response was when I looked in the other thread
so...why are there two threads?

Maybe they be wantin' two Dole Whips?

And yes, in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room, there stands the Enchanted Dole Whip Hut. One may order on either side of such. Set a spell. Relax, enjoy the sweetness from Dole, while being entertained by the magical tiki's and flowers. And that is the pre-show. Then get ready... to be entertained by that most melodious feathered birdie named Jose, with his fellow crooners: Michael, Fritz and Pierre... along with a fine songstress selection of beautiful lady cockatoos, who will be performing in the center of the stage fer you.
Joining in the songfest, will be the wonderful, mischievous Tiki's as well. And if you should find yourself singing along, and or tapping your feet, that is good and most welcomed too.
Then the show culminates in a magic act, where the audience will disappear.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Enjoy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Dole Whip at DL is different from WDW, it is not a swirl but all pineapple. Doesn't make it better or worse, just different. I do think I like the swirl at WDW better.
I remember reading somewhere about avoiding the long line and ordering on the other side and then just saw it mentioned above. Can someone explain that further? Is this short line on the other side of the theater or are the CMs serving out of windows in front and behind them? I'm guessing it's not completely obvious if the line builds on one side and not the other. TIA!
The CMs serve people at the front and that line - if it exists - is almost always longer. If you just enter the gate for the attraction they serve from a window at the rear. This line is usually shorter or non-existant. We usually just do the second.
It is one location, The line builds on the side out on the "main drag" while on the other side you are in the courtyard of the Tiki Room where you wait to be let in for the show...That courtyard is a nice place to sit & eat a dole whip or a pineapple spear even if you are not entering to watch the show....but I always watch the show LOL
Thanks HydroGuy & TheColtonsMom!
:thumbsup2
I think I get the picture now & I'll get my Dole Whip from the Tiki Room side too while I wait for the show!
One note, it seems like the Tiki Room venue closes or runs out occasionally (or at least it is used to), so if you really want a Dole Whip go when you see it's open!
The past few times that I've been to Disneyland, the lines on both sides of the Dole Whip stand were long. This was during the weekends, so just keep in mind that the line in the Tiki Room courtyard might be short, but it might also be long.
The DISneyland Podcast Team recently talked about different snacks at Disneyland, and Wayne Toigo gives a really good accounting of the Dole Whips and the differences between the ones at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
You can hear the podcast by clicking on the following link, Podcast, and going to the 04/21/11 - Disneyland Update. Wayne starts talking at 4:04 mins into the podcast about the Dolewhips.
The line is ALWAYS long, but I mean it's worth it. I agree that the tiki room side is usually shorter but it can be a pain.
Either way, you HAVE to have one :) I always do and I just plan for the line!!
The Disney Dining App lists a Dole Whip Float at $4.69 and a Pineapple Dole Whip at $2.79.
What's the difference?
I have had both the Dole whip float (DL) and the Dole Whip (WDW). I prefer the Dole Whip at WDW...its more of a swirl like soft ice-cream... they are both located at the Tiki room attraction. I agree that the line inside the gate entrance to the attraction is less crowded.
Pinapple dole whip at $2.79 is straight dole whip, Dole whip float is the same stuff floating on pineapple juice... I personally don't like the float because the juice is much more tart than the whip and they just don't seem to mesh well for me... but I have heard others like them and extra $1.90 for a little juice and the plain dole whip sounds even better to me.
After reading the ingredient list I'm not sure why these things are so popular. You might as well drink pineapple juice. None of the other stuff they add in improves it at all.
Water*, Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Coconut Oil**, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Maltodextrin, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking), Corn Syrup Solids, Citric Acid, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Artificial Flavor, Potassium & Sodium Phosphate, Mono & Diglycerides, Artificial Color (Yellow 5 & 6), Soy Lecithin.
You really thought the ingredients would be good for you? It is old school amusement park food it has been around forever. I don't know why those nasty sounding ingredients work but they do taste good on a hot day.
