We are staying at AKL but were wondering if on one of our off days about watersports, water mice... Are you allowed to go to a different resort and pay for watersports? Thanks in advance.

Yes the Water sports are avalaible to anyone, you don't have to be a guest of the resort that you are renting them from :) We like to get them from one of the resorts on Bay Lake/ 7 seas Lagoon (Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness lodge or Ft Wilderness) just because that is the best area in my opinion for the water mice, it has more open space and less no wake zone than to rent from the Epcot resorts...

thanks! Do you just drive to the resort that has water mice and park, or are they located on their own premises?

We just use Disney transportation, but I'm sure you can drive & park at the resort.
We usually take to monorail or walk over to the Contemporary from MK for an afternoon break on the Mice.....

I don't understand your question - yes you can take WDW transportation (if that is what you are asking) - but it is a pain

you take the bus to the MK then transfer over to the RESORT monrail (not the express) - for the hotels - Cont, Polyn or GF.

wl/vwl/fw is boat transportation from the dock at the MK.

it is much easier to drive - you aren't charged for parking - you are a WDW resort guest.

the security guard at the Polyn will issue you a parking pass from 2 to 4 hours depending upon how busy the Polyn is when you visit.

I'm sorry, I meant to add that we will have our own car. We will use Disney transportation to get to the parks, but if we need to get to another resort for any reason, we will drive. I just wasn't sure of where we had to park, if we go to use watersports. Thanks again!

I just have to add we tried these for the first time last Oct. and it was the highlight of our trip!

My dd was 12 and was able to drive (with an adult in the boat). She loved that. It was spectacular crusing the lake and seeing MK and the resorts.

If you're a AAA member, a lesser known fact is they give a 15% discount.

Another thought is to rent a larger boat at DD, they let you take it all the way up the river, an hour or so trip.

We rented from the Comtemporary, but asked at Wilderness Lodge too and I believe the AAA discount is applicable anywhere Disney rents the mouse boats.
