Doing Jedi? How do you plan your DHS morning?

Since everyone has upcoming trips, I will share this info also.
(It is also talked about in other Jedi threads if you dig hard enough):

At Check in, the kids will form two lines and they will fit them with the robes.
The inside line kids (near the flower bed) will fight Seventh Sister.
The outside line kids will go up to the big stage to fight Darth Vadar.

When we were there, some kids and parents asked the CMs who they would fight, but the CMs won't tell you there.
So you guys need to know beforehand if you have a definite preference.

This was the arrangement at March Break. Please update if they change the arrangement.

We went on an EMH morning last June, we were there a little before 8am (park opening). We went straight to the sign up (we got lost so we weren't first in line). Anyhow, there were many 11 am and after times available. We then went to TSMM rode with a pretty short wait (maybe 15 minutes), and then used our FP+ for TSMM, enjoyed some other things, ate lunch at Sci Fi, rode Star Tours with a (unneeded) FP+ and did the training

I just made my FP selections last night and went with an afternoon TSMM FP+ thinking we'll go to JTA signup first, then head over to RNR, which DD really really wants to ride. Then we have FP+ for TOT. We have our next FP+ at Star Tours.

My question is, which JTA signup would be optimal? I've heard people suggest the early morning ones before it gets super hot (we are going second week of June). But then I'm also wondering if the later ones might be better (last one scheduled for that day is 7:40 pm) - I think I read somewhere that the light sabres will show up better? But then my kids will have to wait all day long to do it. I definitely don't want to do it in the blazing sun of the day - especially if the wait area is outdoors??? :crazy2:

If forecast is friendly, I recommend the evening b/c they activate the lightsabers, sound effects and all for the kids. We did the 6:40, then headed over to get a spot for Star Wars Fireworks.

We are planning to try to sign up for the last show so hopefully there will be plenty of availability because I have our day fairly planned out. We do plan to get there about 8:15 for 9am RD so I can ensure we get what we want. But I'll move stuff around if I have to.

I would like to throw a question in as well regarding this topic. We have a trip planned in late August. My family doesn't want to rope drop Studios but instead get fastpasses for later in the afternoon, 2 pm and on. Will it be too late to sign up for a late time slot at that point?

We did JTA in February during Mardi Gras. We arrived at the line I'd say about 30 minutes after rope drop but were still able to get a decent time slot right around 1:30. However, I do know that all of the time slots were gone within an hour after we signed up so unless it is extremely dead when you go (and is WDW ever quiet now?) I would say it is highly unlikely you will get a slot. Let me also add we are definitely not morning people but JTA was more than worth the early wake up call. My two DS(9) were mesmerized. Funny thing is my DS(7) refused to do it - I finally got it out of him yesterday what the reason why is - he is afraid he would be tempted by the Dark Side. I think I need to be worried (lol)...

Oh no...poor guy!! LOL

If it makes you feel any better, all three of my kids love Kylo Ren. Pretty sure they all thought he was handsome. And I guess that make what he did ok??? hahahaha

Thank you so much for this information! Just wanted to let you know that it is still correct. We were there this week and my little guy got to fight Darth Vader because you posted this :)

Is it suggested to show up an hour before rope drop if there are EMH that day? We will be there 5/22 and it opens at 8:00 . . .

I have an ADR at H & V at 8 am. Will they allow us to sign up for JTA before the res? That would be awesome!

It was EMH the day we went. We left POFQ on the Disney bus around 7:15 and were probably the 10-15th group in our line to get into the park. It seemed like everybody we talked to was there to sign up for Jedi training so I was a little worried. They let people in the park right at 8 and for some reason our line got held up. Once we were through the gates we walked really fast to Jedi training sign ups (cast members were yelling "no running"). The line was pretty long when we got there. My son got a spot at in the 10:40 am show and we were out of the line around 8:30. When we were done the line was probably 3-4 times as long. If you just care about getting a spot for Jedi training I don't think you need to be there an hour early, but if you want to accomplish other things in the park during EMH you probably want to be one of the first groups in line.

I'm hoping to get the 7:40 show in 2 weeks. I don't think it's dark yet at that time though. Will they still light up the sabers?

We are going for the latest show, as well. Hoping for lit up light sabers but in June at 7:40 they may not show up for us.

Thank you SO much. That helps!!
