Doin it in Style @ The Poly! September 2010 Here we Come!!!

Girl, just how many Disney shirts do you have???

We are not doing US/IoA this trip either for the same reasons. I just don't think it would be very enjoyable. I can't fathom paying another $200-$300 (including tickets/food/transportation) to wait in lines and "walk" through crowds.

P.S. About the wedding-something I had to remind myself often of during our planning was that what matters most is that you and your FI are happy. It is YOUR day! :)

oooh, love the Cheshire Cat shirt!!

I think you'll really enjoy Toy Story 3, we loved it!

I know this is your PTR and I really don't mean to hijack it, but now I'm worried about going to US/IOA! I am expecting lots of people and long waits, but I hope it's not a complete waste of 3 days! We've never been before so I don't have anything to compare it to and all the rides are new to me so I'm not going just for HP... but what if it's horrendous? I hope 3 1/2 days in the park will mean we get to do most of what we want...

Good luck with the wedding venues, can't wait to hear about it!

Hey Guys

How are we all doing?

Well we're back from our wedding meeting and I think we have found our winner. The place is amazing and HUGE!!! We looked at all the venues within the grounds and have settled for two different ones. One for the ceremony and one for the reception. They are quite a way apart from each other (did I mention this place was huge) and we have a few ideas of how to keep everyone entertained. Took lots of pictures, but mostly for references then pretty pretty, but these should give you an idea of what they are like.

These ones show you where we will be having the ceremony. Its in a place called The Sculpture Gallery and its is a beautiful building. We were thinking of holding the ceremony and reception here, but it is just too big and our guests would be scattered all over the place.

This is where we will hold the reception, its a good size and everything is in the same room, plus there is an outside terrace for smokers and anyone wanting to enjoy the sunshine (please please let it be as gorgeous as today). It has amazing views and there is entertainment for the kiddies on either side, in the shape of a bouncy/obstacle castle and a playground.

Side note: This place is in the heart of the Safari Park (Woburn Safari Park) which is not a bad location, you get to see some animals along the way. We saw some deer, rhinos, zebras and giraffes :)

We have loads of ideas for decorations in the Lodge, am thinking fairy lights and creeper plants for the outside and possibly drapes and twinkly lights for the inside, so when it gets dark it looks like stars on the ceiling.

We viewed the accommodation next, called The Inn at Woburn. Is quite a nice hotel, didn't get to see the standard rooms, but these pics are of the cottages which the bride and groom can hire.

Now all we have to do is speak with our wedding planner friend to narrow down the rates etc and then I think we will be booking this place as soon as :teeth:

So what do you guys think?

oh yup I have been to IoA and US a few times... last summer we went over there for three days while in Orlando with DF's family!
I love Spiderman, Simpsons, Mummy, Duelling Dragons (or what it's called now?!), Hulk and most of US ... it was the first american theme park I ever went to.. in 1993, aged 8!
You must be sad to miss out on WwoHP this year, but you know you'll be back :goodvibes and.. a day to experience the F&W festival at Epcot will be sooo good!!

(off to disneystore website to check out those mugs... !!)

x

Thanx :) We have taken the attitude for this year as if we miss out on something, there is always next year.

Did you get anything online from the Disney Store?

Same here .... we hope that the hype will have died down by next summer and plan on spending 4 days there after our cruise on the DREAM Aug 25 - Sept 1. Guess we'll stay at the Royal Pacific from Sept 1 to 5 and then spend another week at WDW. Complete travel date hopefully will be Aug 13 - Sept 10.
No visit to Orlando would be complete without a visit to Bubba's! :rotfl2:

Hope this new place you are going to visit is what you are looking for! :thumbsup2, but PLEASE don't rush the weekend - I am tired already and there is still so much work to do! ;) :lmao:

Darn it, we will be missing each other yet again lol.

New place is amazing, cannot wait to get married there :teeth:

Too many t shirts, but at least I have a variety to choose from

Yeah paying that much is just not worth it to stand in line all day!

Thank you, we are really happy with this venue and my parents like it too. Cannot wait to get started now.

I think as a US Resort guest you will automatically get express passes for WWOHP, not sure exactly what for, but I hope that helps you guys. I know it sounds scary reading and hearing about the crowds. You never know we might be wrong and September will be less mad, but still busy. I reckon it will just be WWOHP, you still have US which is awesome in itself with The Mummy, Simpsons etc so it defo won't be a complete waste of 3 days and you also have Citywalk too for the nightlife and good :goodvibes

Stefy, I think this is great! I love it. I like your idea of the fairy lights and the curtains too. Now, let's hope for GREAT prices.

Thanks, Stefy! It's probably silly for me to worry- we'll be in a nice hotel at a completely new resort and that in itself will be great. And I forgot about the express passes. Feeling better already!

I LOVE your new venue! The sculpture gallery is gorgeous and looks like it will make a fabulous ceremony location.
Your reception sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun- how neat that there is built in entertainment for the kids.
The pictures of the room are great, looks like a very nice hotel!

Now you can start on the fun part of wedding planning! I'm so excited for the two of you!

Love the new venue!
Just been on the Woburn website lol :goodvibes - it'll look lovely, keeping my fingers crossed for you two!

We looked at a castle near us for a reception.. it was lovely, but I felt it was just too big... I'd spend the whole evening wandering around looking for our guests! .. and they didn't have a marriage licence either, so we decided against it lol.

Emma princess: x

Oh my gosh, Stefy, the new venue looks stunning! And the Inn and bridal cottage does too!
I love your plans for the decorations too! :goodvibes

It's a pity we will be missing each other again in 2011, maybe we should THINK about DLRP? :lmao:
Back to my regular scheduled programme again - WORK!! :sad2:

I love your choices of venues! The first one will be perfect for the ceremony and I can just imagine the twinkly lights in the lodge. Wow!

I love, love, love the venue. It is beautiful! It seems to be worth all of the fuss you had to go through. It is just lovely!!!

I love your Disney Store finds. My favorites are the Belle pillow and the awesome shirts. I love it all actually!

Sounds like you were able to get a great CRT ressie! :woohoo:

I don't blame you about waiting to go to IOA and US. I hear the crowds are amazing there right now!

90 days.....:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: It's getting closer!!

Hey Stefy!
Good call on skipping IOA this year! The lines really are nuts though the Harry Potter stuff is absolutely awesome! Since we stayed at Universal we had early entry and were able to get most everything done during the 2 mornings we were there. Without early entry though:scared1::scared1::scared1: The ride is the coolest ride I have ever been on! And the place is so authentic it is amazing. So once it settles down a bit I would highly recommend it. I'd even recommend it now if you are a huge Potter fan.

Thanx, although we may or may not do fairy lights now depending on cost and also daylight. In August the sun doesn't really set until after 9pm and our day will officially start at 10am so its going to be a looong day.

Wow a castle would be very cool, shame they don't have a marriage licence.

Thanx, can't wait to get started. Still got so much to do.

That is just not fair :( There just one thing for it then, we have to meet up in DLRP

I love your choices of venues! The first one will be perfect for the ceremony and I can just imagine the twinkly lights in the lodge. Wow!

Thanx, still thinking on the lights, but I am gonna try and get something twinkly and sparkly in with the decorations thats for sure :teeth:

Thank you :) We really love the place and have so many ideas.

The pillow is awesome right? :teeth: I spotted it from across the room and ran over squealing

I am very pleased we got CRT for 8:30pm, is going to be cool eating dinner in the castle esp when the fireworks are going off :teeth:

It is v exciting being in the two month mark. I always say to myself when you get to this point time flies by :)

I am so glad you had a great time and thank god for early entry :) Can't wait to read your TR

Hey Guys

How are we all? Glad its the weekend?

Sorry I have been MIA, yet again. We are having a very small hiccup at the moment with the venue, but its very minor and easily rectified (thank god).

I promise I won't bore you with the details, will save that for the PJ.

Things are good here, of not hectic. We had a meeting with our friend/wedding planner on Wednesday night which went very well, still finalising some of the kinks, but hopefully we will be good to go by the end of next week.

Am off to see the new Twilight film later, cannot wait as it looks even better than the last one with more action and drama :teeth:

Am ashamed to say that I have done no Disney planning this week, but hopefully I can get on to some tomorrow and will try and post a proper update.

TTFN :tigger:

Hey guys, how's everyone been?

Sorry Stefy and I haven't been posting away, we have had problems with the venue again and we won't be getting married there anymore. It seems we cant catch a break at all. It's strange because we really aren't being demanding at all, we are just told one thing and then another when it comes to making a booking. Stefy has been really stressed out and now I have convinced her we should just take a small party with us (parents, close friends who want to come) abroad and have a simple stress free wedding. Not going to say where because she will kill me but thought I would update you all.

Not that long to go for our vacation now either!

Sorry to hear about all the headaches. A destination wedding would definitely tempt me! So much more relaxing and you'd already be at your honeymoon!

Well I think we would probably only spend a week in the place we decide, as we still want to go to florida for our honeymoon. Its just annoying that people give us a price for a certain number of guests for a certain room and then turn round afterwards and say sorry, you cant have this nice room because your guests for the ceremony are under 50. They wanted to give us this crappy little room that would barely hold 30 people. Oh well not to worry, this new place knocks the socks off the last one. Stefy will fill you in though im sure. Thanks for the messages though :)

We have some changes we made as well on our trip but i cant remember what they are :rotfl: I will leave it to the professional ;)

Sorry to hear you ran into more problems! But I am really looking forward to hearing about the new venue/destination!! :thumbsup2

Hi Guys

Sorry for being MIA, but as Dave says we have been having more problems with the wedding and its just really stressful right now, not to mention we have been two people down at work as well for the past two weeks which hasn't helped either.

But things are looking up, won't keep you in too much suspense, but my lovely fiancee came up with the brilliant idea of getting married in Lake Garda, Italy. He showed me an amazing venue for the ceremony and a lovely restaurant for the reception which is family run and right on the lake.

We are meeting with our wedding planner tonight to discuss options and once those are down I will post some pics of the place.

We are also hoping to go for a mini vacation next month, if possible, there to check it out. Me and my dad discussed possibly driving all the way and taking the scenic route, but complications with my mum's work has kinda of thrown a spanner in those works. So we might end up flying, but either way it will be awesome as we have never been to Italy and Lake Garda looks absolutely gorgeous :)

I also promise an update on the PTR too as I was going to update weekend just gone, but things got too hectic so...

On the plus side, Disneyfoodblog has posted the menus for the F&W booths which I am going to eagerly check out and see what we are going to try :teeth:

Ciao Ciao

Stef x

:flower3: Sorry for headaches! Small, intimate weddings are lovely too. :goodvibes

Thanx ladies  Hopefully things will be on the up and up after tonight, will keep you posted :goodvibes
