Doin it in Style @ The Poly! September 2010 Here we Come!!!

Hey guys

How are we all doing?

I am thinking about paying for a F&WF special and was wondering how I go about it? Do I just phone Disney Dining?

TIA

Stefy x

Hi Stefy!

Is that the F&W parties they do on Friday nights? I think it's $45 per person.. I wish I'd known about them when DF & I went to WDW during the festival - they sound amazing!

Looks like you can make reservations from mid July..

Nearly the weekend! fingers crossed the sun keeps shining here - I might be going to London on Saturday with DF's family.. might suggest to them we go buy cupcakes from Lolas! :cutie:

Emma princess: x

:rotfl: No worries, it was an episode where they had to design and make cupcakes and then sell as many as possible in a busy London Dept store...the lady showing them was from a successful Cupcake Co, and you could see the famous box in the background...Lola's...just thought of you right away!:cool1:

and made me even more determined to pick one up!

and love the monsters inc t shirt! my mum got me a minnie vest yesterday...Disney surprises are the best...good work Dave!:thumbsup2

I am a fan of Lola's on Facebook and I saw something about the Apprentice on there. V cool :teeth:

You must try one when you come to London. I wonder how many flavours you will come away with :teeth:

Thanx, I do like when I get little surprises :teeth:

You must post your top on your PTR, or here if you want to. That was nice of your mum to think of you :goodvibes

Thanks, you will love what I am getting her for her birthday ;) It's not a t shirt! Oh if you wanna know just PM me and I'll tell you, perhaps you could even help me :D

Can I PM you ;)

It does sound like a fun party, but I am not sure we are going to be able to do it, as its only on Friday's and we only have two when we are there and one of them is MNSSHP. We were thinking about changing some days around, but then I would have to give up the EMH - PM for AK :( Oh decisions decisions, I don't know what to do :confused3

Thanx for the link :goodvibes

Ooh London for the day, sounds nice :) Hopefully you can persuade everyone to stop off at Lola's :)

Unfortunately we are going nowhere near Oxford St this weekend, but we are next week so most prob get one then :teeth:

We have decided that since it is going to be 28C tomorrow we are going to make the most of our Annual Passes for London Zoo and mingle with some wildlife and then hop over to Regents Park for a picnic :goodvibes

Will take pics and update though :)

That sounds like a fun day, even if there are no Lola's cupcakes involved :lmao:

Lol  Yeah it should be a nice day, esp when the weather is going to be awesome :) Sure we can substitute a cupcake for an ice cream instead :teeth:

Hello all

How is everyone's weekends going so far?

Me and Dave had a great day today. The sun was shining and the temperature soaring. We decided last minute that we would go to London Zoo for the day to make use of our Annual Passes.

We like going to London Zoo as we both love animals and enjoy taking pictures of them, or rather Dave does as I'm no good. Besides, it makes for good practice for when we go to Disney.

So off we went nice and early, getting there for just before opening. We messed around for a little while taking pictures

015-2.jpg

A crowd had already formed by the time we got there.
014-8.jpg

Before we knew it the doors were opening and it was time to go hunting (well not literally). We decided to take the backwards route and go towards the back of the Zoo then towards the main attractions and it wasn't a bad idea as we pretty much had that part of the Zoo to ourselves.

016-5.jpg

018-3.jpg

We saw some wild dogs, fiercesome creatures that could bite your arm clean off. We stayed well back whilst taking these pictures as they looked like they would pounce on us at any second :scared1:

024-3.jpg

Next up we went to say hello to Pumbaa, who was pottering about. I think he was looking for Timon. We told him that if we saw Timon we would tell him that him that he was looking for him, to which he replied Hukuna Matata!

028-1.jpg

I love empty looking pictures, so peaceful with just the birds and animals for company.

030-2.jpg

I was feeling all artistic and told Dave to shoot the zebras this way. Came out pretty well dontcha think?

032-1.jpg

Although he had to go one better and be more arty photographer

033-1.jpg

We rang into these guys, so beautiful and graceful

039.jpg

Was quite fascinating to watch him bite and lick the bark off of the branch, took it off in one clean swipe.

045-1.jpg

We left him to his breakfast as he eyeing up my "picnic" bag with a hungry look. We left so quickly that Dave walked into this.

049.jpg

Apparently it was quite sharp and managed to spike him in the neck and head  Bless.

We carried on walking and bumped into...

Timon! We told him Pumbaa was looking for him and off he scurried.

054.jpg

With our Africa visit over, we decided to hop on over to the rainforest.

058-1.jpg

059-1.jpg

We do like going in here as the animals get to roam freely, rather than pace behind bars or glass. Boy was it hot in here, we had just missed a tropical shower storm and they were pumping out "cold" mist, which FYI was not cold, it just made it more wet and humid!

Here's a misty picture for you.

We bumped into this little guy, now he was behind glass, but he seemed pretty happy.

073-1.jpg

Cute lil thing isn't he, just lazing around as you do.

077-1.jpg

We saw these and just had to take a picture for you guys. You ever seen any?

080.jpg

079.jpg

I love this light fixture, so much so that I want to find a way of getting one for us and putting it somewhere in our place :teeth:

082.jpg

084-1.jpg

Another arty shot, looks so awesome!

086.jpg

After our exploration of the rainforest, we rang into Timon again who was feeling all playful and want to pose with me on my shoulder.

094.jpg

We left him to it as he wanted to start foraging for some lunch for him and Pumbaa

095.jpg

After finishing our tour of the backlot of the Zoo we came up into the hub area and had a little sit down and some refreshments

106.jpg

Whilst Dave sat I took some more photos

Still pretty empty, this was at around 11am, we came back this way an hour or so later and it was biz-a!

107-1.jpg

109.jpg

This big guy was called Guy, a western lowland gorilla who came to the zoo on Guy Fawkes Night (hence the name) in 1947 from Paris Zoo, where he lived until his death in 1978. He lived to the age of 32 and was one of the Zoo's best loved residents whereupon they erected this statue of him in his memory.

112.jpg

After our well earned rest, we went to check out the birds.

This guy did not look real, looked like a wooden statue. But was cool though, he is a kookaburra.

124-1.jpg

131.jpg

After some birdwatching we decided to visit the black capped squirrel monkeys. These guys are so cute.

141-1.jpg

142.jpg

143-1.jpg

They had a little area where you could see if you could balance like a monkey, so we decided to give it a try.

137.jpg

139.jpg

After my not so successful balancing act I decided to hide from Dave, but he found me.

147.jpg

We bid farewell to the monkeys and went to check out the Victorian Birdhouse.

They had some cool eggs on display, I love how small this is. Never seen a hummingbird before, but they must be so small if their eggs are like this

I love going to the zoo and taking pictures of the animals. Mark and I are going to go to the zoo one of the days we are off after his surgery when he is feeling a little better (I took a week off to stay home with him). I love your giraffe pics--my favorite. :)

This guy was not all that amused to have his picture taken, but we told him that the camera loved him and he warmed up in the end.

162-1.jpg

Such a cute pair.

This guy is huge and noisy!

185.jpg

After all this picture taking, I was ready for some lunch. We found a nice shady spot on the grass and thanx to Sophia (OhioDisneyLover) wonderful Tinker Bell gift, we sat down and ate.

Never been on a picnic before and this mini one was alot of fun. So want to do one again soon :teeth:

Sated and full we decided to head on over to the Outback and tried to see how many wallabys we could find.

Some flora for you.

210.jpg

I think I spotted four in all, one was an easy find as it was hopping away, but that still counts, right?

Now this is my fav part of the day. I rang into a very good friend, although sadly her spirit rather than person. But it was good to relive old memories.

Can you guess who she is?

Thanx. Its fun going to the zoo right? I hope you guys have fun and take lots of pics when you go :)

Awesome pictures!!! Sounds like a fun day!

Thanx. It was a great day and the weather was gorgeous which made it even more lovely :)

We said goodbye to Winnie and made our way round to the reptile house, bumping into this guy on the way.

We immediately thought "The Komodo Dragon!!!" Lol, I hope we bump into that CM at AK again this year

219.jpg

We made it to the reptile house and took a few pics, but had to leave as it was crazy busy in there. Who knew that the reptiles would be the star attraction of the day. They certainly weren't for me I can tell you.

Now I know these are amphibians, but they fit into this part of the Zoo somehow.

Spot the Toad

After the reptile house we decided to call it a day and headed on over to the souvenir shop, whereupon we made the obligatory souvenir purchase. Dave will tell you that I can't go anywhere and not visit the souvenir shop. One of my fav parts of the day :teeth: Sadly, but proudly, I didn't get anything for myself, ended up getting a few gifts for some friends and my mum (as she agreed to be our chauffeur this morning).

Purchases made we set off for home and had a rest before heading on out to a Diner down the road from us for some dinner. Was yummy yummy and I wish I had taken the camera to show you guys how awesome the burgers were. Maybe next time :)

Not sure what we are doing tomorrow, most prob just laze around before going back to work. Boo! :(

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekends.

Ciao Ciao x x x

GREAT photos! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Looks like you had a real good time!

Can you imagine - that all the times I have been to London I NEVER made it to London Zoo! :scared1:
Something to put on my list for my next visit!

Thank you :goodvibes We are slowly getting there with the camera, still need to work out the darker shots etc

Those yellow frogs are really cool. They had blue ones too, but there were about 5 people crowded round his small little room.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Stefy,

Love your zoo pictures! :thumbsup2 It looks like you had an amazing day at the zoo. Joe and I have not been to the Cleveland Zoo in years.
