Dogs should be for people who live out in the country ONLY

Bark, Bark, Bark, Bark

That is what I heard coming from the next motel room, during a recent trip to Orlando and Disney. Dogs are everywhere including motels now!

That is all I hear also from the direction of the neighbors house. We live in the typical suburban Maryland neighborhood of 4 houses per acre, so there is limited room for anyone. It is just amazing to me how many people on the street have dogs. They seem to rarely get much excercise and when they do get out they just bark and poop.

I think dogs are great if they are on a farm or house with lots of woods and field for them to play, not in packed neighborhoods where they get restless and bark all day and night. Does anyone else feel like I do?

Or just get a dog who barely ever barks! My bullmastiff just about NEVER barks...even when the dogs behind us and on the side of us barks....Babe just kinda looks at them and walks away.

If you ever do hear her bark....you know there has to be something wrong!!....and she does have quite a bark!!;)

Original post deleted as I have decided not to get involved :teeth:

Damn people who have the nerve to have children and dogs!! And oh my - they both have the nerve to make noise and poop, too!

OK, parents, kids, overweight people, pet owners, Hey Chubby, you forgot homeschoolers, teachers who are paid too much, socialism,....

But alabamaalan- Your original post made me burst out laughing!!! You gotta put it back up.

I have a golden retriever who hardly ever barks. In fact, we have alot of goldens on our street, and none of them barks too much.

I live in the suburbs, and if I told my dog she had to go away to live in the country, she would probably lay down and die. It's not where they live, it's how their owners treat them.

as long as the owners are responsible for their pets, i don't see a problem with dogs in the communities...

i have a dog and i live in one of those communities where there are 4 houses on 1 acre. i'm a responsible pet owner...she gets to go on walks and still gets regular exercise...and i clean up after her if she goes to the bathroom somewhere other than her own yard...

and yes, she barks...but she's a dog. that's what dogs do...i'd rather she bark to inform me of an intruder than to have a barkless dog just to keep my neighbor happy.

Dodie -- you are too nice. Try this one.

the dogs are probably owned by unintellectual un interesting people with children who are brain dead anyway.. so the noise doesn't bother them..

But what about cats? ;)

I'm torn on the subject of barking dogs. I agree that dogs bark by nature and it's certainly good when they warn their owners about intruders. However, I can't go for the chronic barkers or those that bark at the neighbors when they're out in their own yards. I'm also a little worried about a dog being in a hotel room next to ours and maybe barking while their owner is out.

I think that a well-trained dog won't do these things most of the time though. And barkless collars and so on can help with those that bark too much.

So chub, what will the subject be next?

Hhhhmmm, guess we shouldn't have babies either because they cry too much :(

Boy you just aren't a happy person are you?

I hope some day you fine some real meaning for your life.

And try a hotel that doesn't accept pets.

Duh.

I have two pups and was grateful to be able to keep them in my hotel room with us while traveling...can you say "flea bag" hotel? LOL! ;) My retriever is the sweetest dog and doesn't bark unless there's a reason for it. The little one...boxer/lab...will bark at the slightest thing! I know in the hotels I was at, they tried to keep the guests with dogs in the same area of the hotel. And there were a couple rooms between us and the guests without pets. If it bothered me that much, I think I would have asked to have my room changed. I finally boarded the pups again and moved to a nicer hotel. I spoke up when they put me in a room where I could see a cement roof out my window! :( Got moved out of there quickly! :teeth:

I believe that dogs should be able to live anywhere.

However, I am a fan of putting all of the pompous asses out in the country...

Is this your idea of "intellectual" conversation?

Well - my first thought is that with the builders buying up every conceivable piece of property available and then slapping houses up on poatage-stamp-size lots, just exactly where is this "way out in the country" that you are referring to?

And my second thought is - there isn't enough "way out in the country" or "farms" to house all of the dogs that are currently in existance - so - what do you suggest be done with them?
