Sunday we had a show in Bath Maine. A trip that should've taken 2 hours ,took us 3!! We got there literally just in time to go in the ring!! I didn't even have time to water my girl! The last group of dogs were lining up to go in for the long sits/downs when we ran in. The judge was a total sweetheart!! He said, "anybody that drove for 3 hours to get here deserves a chance in the ring, you're up!" Now,I couldn't very well say,"can I go walk my dog first",so in we went,no walk,no warmup,no nuthin'! She was AWESOME!!!! Did everything I asked with TOTAL attention! Now time for long sits/downs. She did the long sit no problem, but I was noticing her heavy panting and a preoccupation with her behind. Now the long down,Georgie's easiest task. I put her in the down/stay and walk away, and she's staring at her rearend.
with less than 30 seconds to go,my girl bolts up with her stubby tail tucked looking so upset!!!! The judge looks at me and says,"
how painful to watch that happen". I took her outside and she left a puddle the size of Lake Michigan!!!! I felt so horrible for my dog! She did awesome for me with a full bladder! What a dog!!!!!
Next show in 2 weeks!!!!!

CJ and her wonderdog!!:goodvibes

What a good baby you have!
We're starting agility shows with our Corgi, so I'll have to report in for you. It's fun, huh? :D
Good luck at your next show!

Jill

Way to go, airhead and canine! What breed do you have?

My DD and I do the poultry shows. People think we're crazy, bathing and prepping the chickens before the show - blow dryer going, etc. And you dog folk have it even rougher, having to be in the show ring with your pooches. Kudos to you and your pups!

Hey Airhead great job with your Dobie! Funny, one time when we showed at an agility trial in Cleveland, same thing happened, a 2 hour trip took us over 3 hours and they were almost ready to cross us off since we didn't check in yet. No time to walk her. I put her over the practice jump twice, I watched people run the course a couple times and tried to memorize it. We went in and she ran it so fast we qualified with a first place. I took her out and she pooped and pooped and pooped. Poor baby, I felt bad. She probably ran so fast to be done so she could " go". LOL Hey, the NQ is heartbreaking but she didn't go in the ring. Gotta love her! Good Luck next time!

DISchick----PLEASE! I'd love to hear about your Agility training! I volunteer when my training club sponsers the Agility Trials, and I just love it! I have Dobies and they'll never be as fast as the lighter boned dogs. We'll stick to Obedience trial I think! I love watching what I call the "agility ballet",where the competitors walk the course before they enter the ring with their dogs. I actually took a video of this part of the event. It a beautiful thing!! People don't realize how agile and quick Corgis are! They are quite the little athletes!!
Mouseteacher---I have the sweetest Dobermans you'd ever want to meet!!!
cindyluwho---- I have gone to an agriculture show in Topsfield,MA
and watched people compete with absolutely gorgeous roosters and hens.

Ahhhh, finally found your post!! I've been gone and was thinking about you both and the show. The poor thing. What a trooper. She deserves a huge hug. Good job. When's the next one? I think I'm living vicariously through you.

Poor thing. She did a great job while she was in such discomfort. Next show will be awesome, I'm sure.

We'll see ya in Wrentham CJ!!! We try to hit that one every year. That's where we found our pup's breeder. You'll have to let me know which day you're showing and your pup's show name so we can stop by and root her on!!

I hope you're proud of her for what she was able to give. She did her best, under the circumstances....:D

Sorry I missed this thread. My weekend, Monday and Tuesday were incredibly busy. I've spent the last 2 days recovering...:D
