Can't wait! Hope we do well but it really is up to my dog. She knows what to do,she just has to do it! Two weeks ago,we had
a show and she qualified with a 177(had to get atleast a score of 170 out of 200),but it was not pretty!! I'm spoiled with always scoring in the 190's I guess....

Cool! What breed? What show?

I've been there a few times. Nice shopping.

Dobermans? Neat!

What kind of show?

All breed confirmation, obedience, rally. We're entered in the Obedience trial. Do you show dogs?

That's a good question. We're getting a Kerry Blue Terrier very soon. I spoke with the breeder last night, and she talked about showing our dog. She has quite a few show dogs herself. I think she and her son are also judges. I think she offered to show our dog for us. We're still thinking about it. I'm not sure about every aspect. I've been learning a lot though. I've been to two agility shows this year in my area. It was really neat. Dog people are really interesting, and it was neat to see all the breeds. There's a huge show going on in South GA this weekend. We're not going though. We're off to SC to meet our puppy.

Who won Best in Breed for Dobermans at Westminster? Was it Raisin? That name seems to stick out. I remember that dog.

I'd love to learn about the Obedience ring.

Best of luck to you this weekend....:D

Yes,Raisin won in the working group but not best of show. Is your breeder asking to co-own " your dog? A lot of breeders want to do this so they can show and promote their line. You do know that if you agree to that, you can't alter your dog . If you have the time, obedience is LOTS of fun!!! I'd be happy to answer any ? you may have about that.
Terriers are very smart. This can work both ways for you, you will have to establish right away that you are alpha !

Alpha status is no problem. I'm in charge and the dog will learn that quickly.

It won't be a co-ownership. She has said that she doesn't want the dog altered. She imported this line from Ireland many generations back, and she wants it contuned. I don't think that's a problem either. I don't know if it's true for most breeds, but neutering isn't a cure all for Kerries. It doesn't address the dog aggressiveness issues. That's why obedience seems attractive at this point. I've read where Kerries excel in Obedience, so who knows. We're still thinking about it. I certainly have the time to try....LOL! I just don't know how much money and travel is involved. I can't drive, so that would put it all on Chris. He'll be in Law school for the next 4 or 5 years also. There are so many factors to consider.

Good luck. Wish it wasn't Easter. Then I could go. We don't show up pup but most of his family is in the ring. Or was. His mom is retired now.

Where in Warwick is the show being held? I'm only about 20 minutes from Warwick so maybe we'll stop by!

I've always wanted a Dobie!!!!!!!!

You guys have fun........and kick dog-booty!!!!!:teeth:

As long as she's "happy" before we go in the ring, she should do well. If we hang around too much and she gets bored,I'm in trouble!! She'll totally turn off .
Someone asked where the show is;West Warwick.
Can't wait! I love showing her in the ring!!

Please post your results....:D
