We have one in our county. There are 2 sides, one very large and the other about half the size. They are just open spaces. The other owners there told me that the small dog area is rarely used and there were dogs of all sizes in the big area. I took Kona once as he was very lonely after my older dog died, which is why we have Kali. He had a great time for the most part. While he was drinking another much larger dog approached the bowl and he attacked the dog, I quickly pulled him off. The other owners told me he would be fine, just leave them to work it out. I did allow him back down but after a couple of minutes he jumped on that dog again so I left and have not been back. He didn't hurt the other dog, just scared it but I didn't want to risk him hurting another dog or him getting hurt.
The best part was this huge German Shepherd was the regulator there! If dogs got into fights he broke it up, just butted in between the dogs and stood there. I've never seen anything like it, very cool! Apparently he always does that and the owners for the most part allow him to mediate between the dogs!
