We arrived at the Mickey & Friends parking garage yesterday morning at 10:40 a.m. so we were parked at 10:45. We started walking and came upon a Toyota Four Runner from Utah with a dog inside. He was barking at everyone. I took down the license and was going to report it to someone thinking something would be done about it but one of the parking attendants came up and saw it. He quickly walked to one of the pillars with the emergency intercoms on it. We kept walking because we figured it would be taken care of.

Okay, fast forward to 4:25 p.m. we returned to the garage and fully expected to see either the truck gone or at least the dog pulled out by animal control. Well, neither one happened. I took pictures of the truck and the dog, (I wish I had taken video) and then one of the security guys drove by and I flagged him down. I asked if anything had been done or was going to be done. He told me they had policies and procedures for this sort of thing and they were keeping an eye on the dog to make sure it was not in distress. I asked if they knew if the owner had come back to water or let the dog out because I know they have cameras in the garage. This guy did not know. He had come on shift at 3:00 p.m. and had been told the car had only been there since 1:00 p.m. and I told him that was not correct; it had been much longer. All he kept telling me was the dog was not in distress and they would watch him. I could see I wasn't going to get anywhere so I thanked him and left.:sad2: :confused3

So my question is what would you have done or what would you do now? Or would you have done anything? I am rather disturbed by the lack of any action on the part of security. Oh, and we are annuall passholders so we get to see the garage quite alot and this was first for us. Thanks for any comments.

I probably would have called the police myself. Even though the dog was most likely in the shade (not on the roof) it's still not OK. Disney has kennels if you insist on bringing your dog with you.

I probably would've left a snarky note, done it before.:cool1: Get a dog sitter, less cruel for your dog. We are getting a sitter for our cat for 4 days, paying them 200.00.

Disney has kennels right? I would have called the animal cops. About a month ago I was in the parks with my brother and family. We all went out to our cars about 6pm to get our coats. When my brother got back he said there was a cat in a kennel on the ground by a car just meowing and curled up in the back of the kennel all scared. I can't believe someone would do that and go into the parks.

Ok the dog WAS in distress, he had been barking ALL DAY was probalby thursty and hopefull left a few lovley gifts for the owners. If it was HOT out I probably would have done more. If it's cooler out I may have let the cm;s handle it. So whats the next step? Family comes back to car, lets dog out and dog pees and poops in the garage. Gross. There is NO excuse for doing this!!!!!!! Hopefully they called the police.

I would have done the same thing. probably a lot more snotty!:snooty: Like, "Do you realize how cruel it is to leave your dog with no fresh water, air or potty breaks in your car for this amount of time? If you can't take care of your animals, you should NOT have any!" I hate it when people treat there animals like there a piece of trash! This makes me so mad!!! Hopefully these people got in trouble for doing this to their poor dog!:sad2:

It was obviously in stress!!!! I call the police whenever I see a dog in a car for long periods of time. Even in the shade a car can become very hot and stuffy!

Thanks for all of your thoughts. I thought about the nasty note after we rolled out of the garage. I tend to overthink things sometimes because I am afraid of going overboard. The windows were cracked but I didn't get close enough to see if the dog had water because he wasn't the friendliest but even so, he shouldn't have been left there.

It didn't dawn on me to call the police, I don't know why not. I guess I assumed that the CMs would take care of it, which shocked me almost as much as the people leaving the dog there all day. In retrospect I should have called the police. I still have the pictures. Maybe I should post those somewhere?

Break the window :rotfl2: ..... um, just kidding (maybe)

That seriously pisses me off. I probably would have done the same thing as you, and then kept thinking about it all day. But the poor kitty story, that just breaks my heart! I would have taken that kitty, its kennel and all, to the Disney kennels.

IF no CMs actually do anything about it, me being a dog lover, i would have broken the window... I hate it when they are left in the car all day. Come on. at least pay up the what, $25 to have your dog stay in the kennel... :|

I would have called the police. I think there is a law regarding leaving your pets in the car in California. There are dog kennels everywhere including DL. That makes me so mad. I wish that I would have seen it yesterday, I would have called. We were on Daisy yesterday, we got there around 9:30.

We are dog lovers, too. We have two rescues, and we don't leave ours in a vehicle for more than a few minutes at a time, and NEVER when it's warm or sunny.

Having said that, though, just to play devil's advocate, the one thing we all DON'T know is how often the owners may have come out and let the dog out? It's quite possible they visited the dog several times during the day to give him/her a break?

Just a thought...

Just thinking about this angers me. They should just put the dog in the Disneyland Kennel. I would have called the police because who knows what other types of treatment that poor animal gets when not being left in the car all day at Disneyland.

I probably would have done the same thing as you. I once saw a dog in a car in the parking lot of Olive Garden in CO. It was during the day, and very hot outside. I waited next to the car for several minutes, then got on the phone to animal control. By the time I got through to someone (half an hour later) the owners were walking back to their vehicle. I have no idea how long the animal was in the car prior to the masters returning to the vehicle, but I personally saw it for over half an hour alone in the heat. Animal control said I did the right thing by calling, although there was nothing they could do at that point.

Yikes! :scared:

Well, I know of people who carry a sparkplug in their purse, and bottled waters in their cars for just this kind of situation. I'm talking diehard....

They'll use the sparkplug to smash the window, and then call the police and or SPCA.

Personally, I would definitely call both the people AND animal authorities!
