While I do not like the politics of George Bush, I think he would be a great guy to know and have a few beers with. I would like him as a friend. His Dad seems like a nice man also.

Though Dick Cheney seems like a COLD FISH. He seems like a terrible person to be in a stuck elevator with! Seems so unfriendly. Anyone else pick this up this vibe from our Vice President?

While I am not keen on some of Bush's politics, I find myself hoping that nothing happens to him while in office that would lead to Cheney being made President. I am with you on this one!

He seems like a serious, smart, no-nonsense guy and I would be happy to have him in charge. He's not going to take crap from anyone, and that's the kind of person I like in charge, whether it is the country, state, or company I work for. I don't need him to be my daddy or my buddy.

And I think I would have a good time having a few beers with Cheney - we'd have fun busting on the spaghetti-spined lefty libs... :drinking1

Exactly! I don't give a wally darn how cold he appears, the man seems COMPETENT to me!

Maybe he needs to get in touch with his feminine side...it might reduce those stress levels.

He is probably the most corrupt man in the administration. One can only pray that he never gets the big desk.

And your corruptions charges are based on what??

I'd be happy with him in charge. I loved listening to him in the vice-presidential debates in 2000 and 2004. :goodvibes :sunny: :goodvibes

Did you ever hear of Halliburton?

Oh, and whose this "Scooter" person?

Halliburton???? What does that have to do with Cheney. He completely divested YEARS ago. His deferred comp is guaranteed by insurance contracts. Whether Haliburton makes billions or goes bankrupt does not effect Cheney one iota. (BTW, is Halliburton evil??)

Yes, Scooter has been charged. Are you saying Cheney made Scooter lie? After 2 years of investigation by the independent prosecutor -- no charges against Cheney -- or do you have a secret source?

I think the reference to Halliburton is to present another view of the "competence claim." The stock of the company didn't fare especially well right after he left, in the wake of some "not so astute deals", but most disastrously, he led an ill-advised effort to purchase Dresser Industries that led to monster settlements of asbestos claims (liabilities that Halliburton did not discover during the due diligence and Halliburton took a $615 million charge to settle all the claims).

Really, the suggestion is that it's all about cronyism and that while Cheney may appear to be competent, it is largely smoke and mirrors. When a former Halliburton chairman (Thomas H. Cruikshank) was asked why they hired Cheney, who had no previous business experience and whose degree are in poli sci, he told one reporter that Cheney got the job because "he would be able to open doors around the world and to have access practically anywhere ... There was a lot that he could bring in the way of customer relationships."

Dick Cheney enjoys fishing in Wyoming. Interviews I have seem with him reveal him to be a quick, witty and pleasant man. His wife, Lynn Cheney is lovely and looks like an excellent judge of character. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you were lucky enough to find yourself stuck in an elevator with him.

Hi Joe, Haliburton is the favorite word of the left. What's the phrase? "Stuck on stupid"? :rotfl2:

This is all ya got? :rotfl2: His lovely wife LOOKS like an excellent judge of character!? :rotfl2: He likes fly fishing!? :rotfl2:
The only reason I'd be glad to be stuck in and elevator with the man is that a bunch of idiots would be working really hard to get us out! Pleasant? I don't think so! It's pretty clear the man went after Wilson through his wife's job. Pleasant? Nah uh!

Joe, your gullibility is showing. Scooter's notes show Cheney as his source. Why in the world do you think they would have been discussing Wilson and Plame? :rolleyes1 coffee clatch chit chat, no doubt! :rotfl:

You guys have moved the comments far away from the orginal question. Wanted to know if other people thought Dick Cheney was a cold person- personality wide.

I know someone who met Dick and they say he can put on the charm if you are a Republican and have money. Otherwise he is a cold fish!

So you're admitting that your assessment is based not on first-hand experience, but on heresay. The person you talked to didn't say they had any experience, but they just "knew" how the VP acted. :confused3 And you think there are lots of Republican "cash cows" sitting around posting on the DIS that can provide you with first-hand experience that would change your all-too-obvious opinion?

And if they were discussing it privately, is that a crime or corruption?? The prosecutor for the last two years is not charging Cheney for anything, but apparently you know better. indeed.

Figure that's why he couldn't run for President himself, because he doesn't have Charisma that is necessary to be elected President now.

I think it's your ignorance of the law that's showing. Fitzgerald specifically stated at his news conference that there was nothing illegal about Administration officials discussing the fact that Wilson's wife worked at CIA.

And I can just imagine the hue and cry from the Left and the MSM if this situation had been different in only one detail - if Wilson had been a cheerleader for the war, instead of a critic of the war and a Kerry campaign official, what would you have thought of the nepotism involved due to the fact that his wife worked at CIA, and got him the gig to travel to Niger? If the Administration had purposefully tried to keep that fact OUT of the media (you know, protecting a covert officer and all) and the Dems got wind of it, that would be the conspiracy we'd be discussing right now.

You don't think that it is reasonable and plausible that, once Cheney was accused of sending Joe Wilson to Nigere and he never heard of him, that he would discuss this issue with Mr. Libby? Wilson said he was sent by the VP. That was the first of many lies. Why would Cheney and Libby discuss this? The question was, "who sent him".
