Does your Tim Hortons have a used needle container in their restrms

Pretty sure there's one in the main women's room at the Grand Californian. Seems prudent to have them, but once a place has them they have to put out new ones when they fill. Needles poking up defeats the purpose.

I've never been to a TH, but since someone mentioned donuts, I probably won't be going to one anytime soon.

But I have seen them in numerous restaurants. And I am happy about it. I've used them for my mother's and my own shots.

I think donuts were how they started, but now they've branched into other stuff including sandwiches and baked goods. Kind of like Dunkin Donuts - many which seem to just called "Dunkin" now. They have some locations that are just donuts and pastries, but they have some rather large locations with a full menu.

Still - I'm not quite sure why having needle containers is such a big deal. It's pretty normal now. I've heard of restaurants that dealt with people injecting insulin and just tossing them in with the other waste.

I have Celiac, so no baked goods or even sandwiches. Either way, I don't know that there is one anyone near me.

I hated having to carry my mother's used needles home with us because there wasn't a container nearby.

I've never injected insulin or had anyone in my family who did. However, I remember when my wife had gestational diabetes and was pricking her fingers several times a day to check her blood glucose levels. We had a home sharps container, but a few times on the road I think she handed me her used lancets, which I might have dumped in one of those bathroom sharps containers. It was a long time ago, but we never got around to tossing the container until a couple of months ago. I mentioned something to my mom, and she handed me the one she's using for her lancets (I think for type II diabetes). I found a local recycling center that took them. They didn't allow unattended drop-off, but I had to hand them to a worker who had a special storage area for them.

I see those quite often in hospitals and medical buildings. I spent several days in one last year when my dad had surgery.

Tim Hortons does have a gluten-free menu. I guess if you're in Canada (or in parts of the US that have them) that might work if you're curious.

As best as I can recollect, I have never seen a sharps container outside of a health related setting. Not at a Starbucks, not at a McDonald's, not at a Walmart or Lowes or my office or anywhere. Then again, I've only been in a Tim Horton's once, and didn't go in the bathroom.

Thankfully, they have them, in not in every, in almost every public bathroom at Disney.

For sure they are located in the bathroom near Living with the Land, in the bathroom near check in at Saratoga Springs and in the bathroom near check in at All Star Sports. I've also found one at the Grand Floridian and at Beach Club. I just don't remember where.

Next time you are at Disney, take a look around. I'm betting you will spot one.

I see them in almost every public bathroom I visit in Southern CA. Disneyland has them in every bathroom...been this way for years. These have nothing to do with illegal drug use. They are there for people who need to inject prescription medications for diabetes or certain other conditions (I use an injectable migraine drug, for instance).

I thought sharps containers in pubic bathrooms have been relatively common for at least a decade? I know I see them often---I am nearly positive that includes in Canada and i know it includes the USA andm ost of Europe.

I've heard that more are using injecting pens, but even those require single-use needles that require disposal. And those would be useful for anyone using lancets for blood tests. I'm not sure what the commotion is about something useful for people with medical needs. Perhaps some illicit drug users might deposit their used needles, but that's just a side effect.

Honestly, you would think people would welcome that these needles are actually being disposed of safely rather than just randomly thrown down on the ground somewhere.

People need to get over themselves sometimes. Everything doesn't need to be a controversy.

Yep---there are lots of medeical needs that require self injection, beyond diabetics. I have a clotting issue which requires a heparin injection before flights over 4 hours or car/bus rides over 6.

Sometimes hormone therapy requir injections

and on it goes

why providing a sharps container bothers anyone is beyond me---even if illegal drug users ARE disposing of sharps there as well---isn't that better than in normal trash? Do peopel really think having a sharps container is going to lure addicts to a place?

Well, yes in a way. Or at least there are those who believe that zero-tolerance is the only way.

Of course there's the reality of used needles being deposited in playgrounds and in normal trash. I've heard that one reason why some cafes have gone to wall-mounted sharps collection was because of employees getting pricked by needles that poked through trash bags or were just deposited on the floor, whether or not they were from illicit or legal drug injections. I get that some may feel that it's giving tacit approval of illegal drug use, but at some point there's a need to protect employees and even customers.
