Both my older DS's have worked for years--starting with paper routes when they were approx. 9 yo
They both have held steady jobs ever since, mainly at a popular gas bar/convenience store in town.
DS who is now 20 and works at an auto dealership--so he's been working now for 11 years!!
DS 17 is working with an eavestroughing(sp?) company and he has been working since he was also around 9--he just quit his job at the gas bar after 3 months because he wanted a break! Less than a month later he's working again making $9/hr and loving it...which isn't too bad for a 17 yo!
All of their friends have held jobs as well--they just didn't start as young as ours!
