Does your Spring Break change with Easter?

Like you OP our spring break is always the first full week of April but the kids do get Good Friday and Easter Monday off too. 2009 &2010 our spring breaks will coincide w/Easter so looks like we won't get back down to DW till 2011 :-(

Our spring break is always the 3rd full week in March. 17-21 this year. This is the only time it's ever coincided with Holy week that I can remember. We do not normally get Good Friday off.

Our school year is scheduled to end the Friday before Memorial Day, but with snow days we will finish the week after.

Is this Patriots Day a local thing? I only ask because 9/11 has been designated as Patriots Day and I just find it odd that there are two "holidays" with the same name. Obviously the battles of Lexington... came first, but I was just curious if this is a local holiday or an actual federal designation. :confused3

Yes it is a MA thing

Our district in NJ always has Spring break in April. This year the kids have it April 21-25. Since Easter is in March this year, they get Good Friday and Easter Monday off, but no change to the normal Spring break. I think it just depends on the town.

We always have Spring Break around Easter, been that way since I was in school here in Ohio(went to HS in the same district my kids attend).

2 years ago, we had spring break about 2 weeks before Easter. OMG people were going beserk.

The local paper ran a little article that the district approved next year's calendar. They made mention of SB being 4/6-4/10, though not notating that was 09. The district used the instant alert system(which was for emergencies, but is used for delays and snow closing, but I guess the phones ringing off the hooks at the schools and district offices constitutes an emergency:laughing: ), to mention that no they weren't changing break this year, that the dates in the paper were for 09 and please look at the website for the 08-09 calendar. :lmao:

Our district changed the Spring Break two years ago. It used to always be the week of Easter. Now, it's the last full week in March.

Wow, that is interesting! Way back when my kids were young and we did public school in Florida our Spring Break was always Good Friday and then the week after Easter. We have moved many times since then and most other places they just pick a week and it is always the same, such as always the last week in March, etc. Then, since Easter moves around, the break sometimes coinsides with Easter but usually doesn't.
I agree with whoever said it, not very PC these days to make Spring Break look like a Christian holiday. Most schools don't even call the Christmas Break "Christmas."
I guess there are not a lot of Disney fans in your school district. Like somebody said, when Spring Break and Easter do coinside it makes for bigger crowds at WDW, the week before and the week after Easter are some of the worst at WDW!!!
We homeschool now, but we still have lots of outsides activities to work around, probably won't be back until next fall:upsidedow !
BTW, the schools here (Plano, Tx) have break the week of March 17th, which happens to be the week before Easter this year.

It is a Massachussets holiday. it remembers a specific battle and falls in mid April. (I think it might be celebrated on the 3rd Mon of April) CT federal tax returns used to be processed in Mass and we would get an extra day to file if tax day fell on Patriiots Day since everything in Mass is closed that day.

i have actually never heard of 9/11 referred to as Patriots day.

Nope. Our spring break is over the exact same time period it was last year. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the 2 at all. When I was growing up spring break always came over Easter, now it has nothing to do with it. We have had there be 2 weeks between them.

Ours is always the last week of April and our winter break is always the last week of February.
