When I'm working around the house and I need help with something, I always think twice before bugging DH if he's relaxing. Unless it's really necessary, I leave him alone.

If I'm relaxing (or DISing;) ), and he's working around the house, he calls for me constantly. It's almost as if he can't stand to be doing work while I'm not. "Grab me this", "Call this place", "Make some iced tea", etc. He's not a slave driver or anything, I don't even think he realizes he does it.

No, mine doesnt do that. If he wants tea or the phone or whatever he just gets it himself. Now if he really needs my help he will ask but usually he is very self sufficient :D

Actually, it's the other way around for us. My husband can't stand to relax, he's got to be doing something all the time (I tell him he's got Attention Defecit Disorder!). So I know when he's sitting and resting, I should leave him alone. But I never do! I'm always bugging him to help me with this or that.

Come to think of it...maybe that's why he likes to keep busy all the time. So I won't bother him!!

Sort of... it's amazing how my DH can't seem to do anything around the house by himself. It's things like, "You want to help me mow the yard?".. "You want to help me clean up MY mess", .. "You want to help me look for that thing?" .. etc...things like that the drive me nuts!

Yes, that's exactly what I mean!::yes:: Maybe we're married to the same guy.:p

Oh yes! Although is is really good about helping out and doing things he just seems to ask for help at the worst times!

You know those times, when I'm answering the phone, got a pile of clothes in my arms to put away, hopping on one foot because the dog is nibbling at the other foot and the neighbor is at the door wanting to borrow something.

Calgon take me away!!!

I have levels of tolerance on this issue. If he is perfectly healthy, and has spent the morning doing nothing (not even helping with the kids), then wants to take a nap when DDs are sleeping, then I usually find ways to keep him awake and helping around the house. Especially if I have been busting a** all morning.

But when I know he has been working hard too, I will let him relax.

I know I'm mean!! My other trick is that if he is sick, I will try to keep DDs out of the bedroom so he can rest/sleep. However, if he is "recovering" from a night out with the boys, then all bets are off. Come 8am (I've usually been up since 6:30 thanks to youngest), I open the door and tell DDs that daddy is in the bedroom! I have no sympathy for self-inflicted pain when we have 2 young girls to take care of!

What gets me is that my DBF and I go to work at the same time and I get home about 2 hours after him, he always says that he will make dinner because I did it "last night", so I will get changed out of my work clothes and when I am done he is still sitting on the couch. I go to the kitchen to start making dinner so I don't have to eat at 8:00 at night, and he says oh I will do it go sit down. He starts dinner and while waiting for water to boil or to brown hamburger he will sit back down on the couch and never get up to fix dinner again. I try to not get up and make him do it on his own but I end up getting up so the stuff doesn't burn!!!

When dinner is ready and done he says thanks for making dinner and then says, I would have made it. Ya right.
