Does your retriever, retrieve?

We have a Golden/Collie mix and she loves to retrieve.

Our 2 1/2 year old black lab loves to retrieve and will do so as long as you'll throw something (anything) for him. He also likes to retrieve things DH would rather he didn't (like dead armadillos - his personal favorite ;)). :rotfl2:

BTW, your dog is adorable, but I can't help but think that she reminds me of Chewbacca in Star Wars! :)

I have a golden/yellow lab mix whose attention span is so short that he doesn't have a thought process that lasts more than 10 seconds. He used to be obsessed with the marsh and small creek behind my house, and nothing could stop him from finding a way under the fence somewhere, somehow so he could go play in the water and pluff mud. I couldn't let him into the back yard unless I was out there with him. Fortunately, he outgrew that.

My son's black lab is never without his Super Kong. He walks around the back yard with it in his mouth. He sleeps with it next to his face. He only puts it down when he eats, and he puts it down right next to his food bowl. If I even talk to the pup, he brings his Kong to me and wants me to throw it, and he even shoves it in our other dogs' faces to get them to try to take it from him. He's hilarious!

My Golden/Pit mix loves fetch hours on end.She knows when I say drop, but loves a tug-o-war everytime!!After 4yrs and her growling to let go,she just LOVES it.NO,just that she is 1/2 Rednose PIT she has never BIT ANYONE.That was for the PitBull HATERS!!!Slober wet ball, yes. But love of play is all she gives..:flower3:

Our last golden would retreive 24/7. DH used to toss tennis balls over the HOUSE and he would run around and get it and bring it back. He had 2-3 balls in his mouth most of the time.

Now, the Irish Setter we have now can't catch a ball to save his life. He's great at pointing out birds and squirrels and will stand on point for several minutes till you can get him to break but for fun we toss his toys at him and tell him to catch or fetch and he just looks at us. :confused3

One of our golden's wants to retrieve so much that we have to put all the toys away to get him to leave us alone. If we say the word "ball" or anything that rhymes with ball he gets all excited.

Our other golden will retrieve but not all the time, only when he is interested.

Our first golden would retrieve then lay down! He was a one time retriever. lol

MichelleVW- we have a golden and an Aussie, too, and they are the same way. Our golden will retrieve just to take it away from the Aussie, but otherwise, no way. He does like to "eviscerate" the toys and remove the squeaker and stuffing, though. He also likes to "act", and has been in several theater productions (currently he is in Two Gentlemen of Verona). I swear he likes the lights and knows when he is on stage. He is extremely laid back, and his personality is best described as Dug from UP! Not the brightest golden on the planet....and goldens aren't the brightest to begin with!

Lol!! I have a border collie too and his goal in life is to steal things away from the Aussi!!! :rotfl:

My late black lab/border collie mix wasn't much for fetching (also didn't have the herding instinct....maybe the two genes cancel each other out?). I'd throw the ball and the first few times she'd go get it, but after two or three throws she'd just stand there and look at me as if to say "look...you threw it YOU go get it!". :rotfl:
