This may sound like a silly question but, how does the guide know you've booked a DVC stay? My first trip home is in August so I'm just curious how my guide is kept in the loop.
They can probably get a listing of their member's upcoming stays. I usually get an e-mail from mine about a week before my trip, I'm sure it's computer generated. Never got a call except for the one time my guide left a message on my home answering machine while I was at WDW telling me that points were again on sale at BWV (when they closed the sales center and added rooms).
I've never added on since my original purchase in 1999, so she probably figures I'm not a top prospect.
We usually get a call from our guide Karen Guyder when we visit WDW since 1999. I appreciate it because I know she is taking time away from possible new sales when she is making a call to a previous client. Yes, we have added on twice since our initial purchase so there is a potential for a add on again. I think it is a nice touch even though we have never acutally been in the room when she has called. I think this is the mark of great customer service which we all seem to expect from Disney but complain when we don't get it.
Funny, KG has never called us.....not that I blame her either. We cancellecd our purchase with her when we found out we could buy resale at the location we really wanted. That being said, I am totally good with our arrangement as is. I would always think it's not a 'have a good vacation call,' it's more of a 'don't forget I am here if you want to add on call.'
Anyway, what else do they do other than add on points and selling new ones. What if all points are sold - then what do they do, since they don't book ressie or any MS stuff. And majority of us never speaks to them again unless we need more points.

Never called or been in touch when we are on our vacation. He is a nice guy but it would be a surprise if he did. He has always said when we come down to get in touch with him at the SSR DVC and he would treat us to an ice cream but we never have.
Our guide has always called us , welcomed us home & reminded us of the open preview hours for the mock up rooms & I appreciate it. But I wouldn't be heartbroken if he didn't.
My hubby is in sales and I don't mind when salespeople "stay in touch." To me that means they take their jobs seriously in the long term. That said, I am glad that we don't feel hounded by DVC to buy add ons, etc.
(I do feel bad though--our friends bought last year and I don't think they asked for him. They did use our name as a referral at least).
