and how old are they?

My daughter has one and she is 7. She is only allowed to have it on at certain times of the day/night, basically she is monitored on what she watches. :)

I never had one. :(

I said other. DS and DD have a small TV/VCR (yes from the pre DVD era) unit which they move back and forth between their rooms. It has never been hooked up to the satellite or even an antenna--it is only for wathcing movies (we pick up VHS tapes for a quarter at library sales). (BTW I did say "has never been" becuase it hasn't even been an optin since last May-we turned off the sattelite service last May thinking we would reinstate it after summer but no one misses it so we now have no live feed comming into the house--it's fabulous)

Both of mine do. I was in the camp of "my children will never have a TV in their bedroom," but when building the house, we had to nix the playroom because it wasn't going to work. That left nowhere for a 2nd TV in the house, except our bedroom - and I absolutely did not want a TV in there. DH works shiftwork, and having the 2nd TV in there would never work. So, I gave in. However, we have satellite, and I'm able to block all the channels I want. I went in and blocked everything except for Disney, Nickolodeon, PBS, and a few other channels. They both have under 10 channels to choose from.

yes, they are 15, 18 and almost 20.

15 and 18 yr old share a room and they have the DVD and games hooked up to theirs. 20 yr old has a VCR with hers.

They've had them in their rooms probably starting around age 6 or 7. But they still spend more time downstairs watching TV. They do have cable up there but just basic, I don't want them watching some of the stuff on the movie channels.

Yes and my son is 19. All 3 of my sons had tvs in their rooms starting at about age 12.

My kids have always had TVs in their rooms, but none of them have really ever spent much time watching them. When they were little, I would watch it more in their rooms than they did. When my oldest was little, he would play in his room and I would watch the PBS cooking show that use to be on during the daytime. PBS changed with my other kids and didn't have the daytime cooking shows on, but they still never watched that much TV in their rooms.

DS will watch DVDs at night and DD will watch Nick At Night getting ready for bed, but that's about it.

No. My boys are 12.5 & 14. I will not allow tvs in their rooms while they are still in school. Even after they graduate high school, I won't be buying a tv for their rooms. They spend enough time on electronics. Before bed is one of the few times they actually read outside of homework. I do allow them to sleep in the family room on Friday & Saturday nights, if they don't have to get up early the next day.

Yes, dd is 17. It's hooked up to the digital cable and I let her watch whatever she wants. She's introduced me to a lot of shows I'd never normally watch like America's Next Top Model and Little People, Big World.

My kids are all adults now, but I think they were around 8ish when they were allowed to have a tv in their bedroom. The boys shared a room and basically used it for their game system, and my daughter pretty much only watched tv in the family room anyway, the same Disney movies or the Wizard of Oz over and over and over.:)

I voted other. My 12 yr old ds has one but 6 year old ds does not. I told younger ds maybe in a few years.

No. Our house is small enough (1600sf) that multiple tvs would just be too noisy. Beyond practical considerations, I just don't think it's necessary. The kids won't die if they have to miss a particular show.

I have a TV, and I'm 15.
I usually don't watch it though, since I have a computer.
But when I do, it's usually movies instead of TV.

Yes, I have 3 kids all have tvs in their rooms but only one watches it, the other two keep it on the music channels.

Yes we all have tv's in the bedrooms and my 2 oldest have computers in there as well.

My DD has had a TV since she was 5 years old (14 now) but it's not hooked up to the satellite, she only can watch DVDs in there.

My 2 teen DD don't have one. The older admitted if she did have one when she was younger she would be sneaking and watching too much.
They don't care to have them now.

Both girls have tv with cable in their rooms and have since they were about 8 or 9. It's not a big deal, and usually they watch tv on the big screen in the living room.

No, and they never will. :)

No computers in their rooms, either...the computer will always stay in a common area of the house.
