I have heard from a 5th grader today that some building skip floor 13 because of people who have Triskaidekaphobia. Does your building at work or home have a floor 13? :scratchin

No, it doesn't. None of the rooms are numbered 13, either. Strange that would happen today. :confused3

I've never seen a floor 13 in any building I've ever been in

The Contemporary does not have a floor 13 either. It was when I noticed this as a kid that my dad taught me why.

Our company's offices are on the 12th floor and the floor directly above, so I'm really on 13, but the elevator says 14.

We're only one story here. BUT at daycare this morning I was checking out the classroom that DS (10 mths old) is moving up to a from Monday (Halloween). The only empty cubby is numbered 13. I told his teacher I wasnt thrilled with that and she said she would see what she could do. Is that silly? To not want my son to have number 13?

I used to work in a 42 story building in Boston... no 13th floor there.

We booked a room at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland. It was a discounted price so I expected a view out the back overlooking the parking area. When we arrived the young lady at the desk said they had put us on the 13th floor and then looked like she was ready to be yelled at. I said that is fine and we had an awesome view of DCA. Of course the new park wasn't open yet so it wasn't as pretty of a view as it would be now.

Yes, very silly.
13 is one of my favorite numbers now.
But I used to have a touch of the phobia when I was a kid.

The building I work in has 20 floors. And YES, there is a 13th floor (which technically all buildings taller than 13 floors has a 13th floor). But in any case, yes, there is a button in the elevator for floor number 13.

Triskaidekaphobia
That is a Big Word.....

No, my office is only 2 stories, but most of the buildings around here don't have a 13th floor. I think the Hollywood Tower at MGM has a 13th floor.... (TOT) ;)

:jumping2:

I currently work on the floor above 12, which is labeled 14. Funny though, our office is the entire floor and in our old building we were on the 13th floor and it was labeled that way too!

Then do you tell people you work on the 13th floor or the 14th floor? :confused3

My building only has 5 floors.

My current only has 5 floors, but when I worked in a high rise there was no 13th floor. I believe hotels generally don't have floor 13, especially in Vegas!

They recently re-numbered the floors here at 5 Penn Plaza because the NYFD requested it. (lobby is now 1, etc.) Well, when they did that, they took away the 13th Floor.

I live in only a 3 story building now but the highrises I have lived in in the past did not label the 13th floor. They jumped from 12 to 14.

Myst

If I'm remembering right, last week at the Dolphin there was no 13th floor. We were on the 17th!

DS and I flew (on a commuter airplane) yesterday and were in row 14. I kept looking at the row numbers because it seemed to skip from 12 to 14, and I thought I was missing something. Then it dawned on me that they skipped row 13. I told DS that it was a good thing we aren't superstitious, because technically we were still in the 13th row!

I've never noticed on other flights whether there was a row 13 or not.

Yes we do. I work in a 21 story building in St. Paul and there is a 13. What is the deal with 13??

My work building has a 13th Floor and I work on it in Suite 1310. I'm not superstitious so it doesn't bother me. Whenever my middle DD is with me at work and we get on the elevator she comments that 13 is an unlucky number as she's pressing the button. She watches too much TV LOL.
