Just curious... does it have to be activated at the time your reservation is made?

Ashlet, you can make a reservation with an AP discount without actually having the AP yet. But you are suppose to have it at time of check in. I ended up ordering it and having it mailed after I made the reservation. Then, after check in at the hotel, I went to the Magic Kingdom and had it activated at guest relations. Carolyn

Ditto..we had to show the voucher at check in to verify the rate...but activated later at MK.

We checked in 8/16 at BWI only with AP vouchers. They asked us for nothing, and we got our quoated AP rate

The CM on the phone told me that I had to have an activated AP, not a voucher to check in. I didn't think that was right, but didn't argue with her. We won't be arriving until after 11PM, so how was I supposed to go to the parks to get my AP activated?

Funny how we can sometimes get more accurate information on these boards then from the CM's themselves :)

If I get to the resort and find that they want the pass activated, can I go to any park to activate? Since we are staying at BC, it will be near EPCOT and I'm wondering if I could just run over to International Gateway and activate it there.

You will not need an activated pass for check in, As long as you have the voucher and reciept that will be fine!:)

I have had all situations happen.

Voucher accepted.

Voucher accepted at checkin, but did have to come back after activation and show activated pass. I was told if I did not, I would not get my discount.

Also have not been asked, but did recieve comment that it was in the computer that I have an AP.

You can not activate your pass at the International Gateway, you will have to go to Guest Services which is at the main entrance of the park. At the Yacht and Beach I would go to MGM by boat.

You can also go the Guest Services at Downtown Disney.

I'm not sure if it just changed but I have activated my pass twice at the international gateway. You go to the little ticket window, only takes a few minutes.

Thanks for the update on the Gateway things change constantly at WDW and of course just as soon it can change again.

The official policy is that the AP must be activated in order to check-in. For whatever reason though, there's a lot of varying experiences as to what was actually required.

They are completely within their rights to deny you an AP rate if you don't have the activate pass.

The police are also within their rights to ticket you if you don't use a turn signal. Most police, however don't use a signal! :)

The point is there's a difference between what policy is, and what is enforced. For further proof, try and get the official policy on the refillable mugs. :teeth:

If worse comes to worse and they request an activated AP, stop the check-in process, go activate your AP and come back to checkin.

Have a great trip! :)

We were there in July, went to downtown disney and got our AP's. Checked into CBR and was never asked for proof of an AP. We also stayed at CS & AKL same trip and was never asked at either of the resorts at check in for AP's.
